Part I: Sanda
My name is Wes Atkins and I have come face-to-face with some of the most dangerous and strangest animals all over the world. But none can compare to the creatures that we will be encountering on our journey...Kaiju! These are some of the most powerful living beings on the Earth today but they are also the least understood. I seek to change how they are perceived so that we can all better understand these magnificent beasts. Now join me on this fantastical adventure into the Wild World of Kaiju
The camera turns on to a fixed shot of a lush tropical jungle. A sound of footsteps against the jungle floor starts to get closer until a Causcasian male, dressed in jungle attire, walks into view of the camera.
"Hey there, I'm Wes Atkins…"he says with a smile. "... and I am fascinated with all kinds of animals. But I study a certain group of animals that are housed right here on Monster Island. I have gotten special permission to show the many different Kaiju here to the world. Today we will be exploring the Gargantuan monster known as Bigfoot Sanda."
The camera then follows closely behind Wes as he treks through the various tropical plants in his way. With some giving him more resistance than others.
"I cannot express how excited I am to finally see my first Kaiju in person, and what a one to start with. The researchers here said that Sanda is incredibly docile to humans, meaning that we will be perfectly safe when we encounter him. But we'll still have to make sure not to get stepped on by him of course" he says with a chuckle before continuing on.
While using his hands to push apart some bushes, he looks back at the camera.
"For all you folks at home, even though we are dealing with a harmless Kaiju they are indeed still dangerous. I am a professional Mega Zoologist so do not attempt to do anything that I will be doing. If a Kaiju is in your area quickly evacuate or make your way to your nearest underground shelter. Sorry for the moral lesson bit here, just thought I should get that out before continuing. Anyways let's go find our monster." he enthusiastically says.
Wes stops to take a momentary break in a small clearing and takes out his canteen to take a drink of water. He then hands his container of water to the person behind the camera which they promptly take.
"We've been traveling through this jungle for about forty minutes now. So we're gonna take a bit of a breather here..." he says to the camera that is still pointing at him.
"...not for my sake of course but for my out of shape camera crew" finishing his statement with an audible laugh.
"Shut up Wes" a voice chimes in behind the camera causing Wes to laugh a bit more.
Wes then composes himself and reaches behind the view of the camera to take back his canteen.
"Well it's time to get going. Come on you two, hop to it." Wes' remark was met with loud audible groans.
But just as the camera was about to follow Wes back into the jungle. A sudden vibration is felt through the ground that stops him in his tracks. There was a brief pause until it was felt again. The vibration happened again but a bit stronger; strong enough to slightly shake the trees surrounding him. The vibrations started to become more frequent and growing in intensity.
Wes had a very wide smile as he observed the surrounding jungle shake as he knew exactly what this meant.
"He's getting closer" he excitedly says before rushing into the jungle, which the camera promptly follows him.
Wes begins to run up an incline, quickly moving through the trees and making his way uphill. The vibrations become more intense and are now loud enough to be picked up by the camera's audio.
The camera is having a hard time keeping up with Wes, barely being able to keep him in view. Wes then mysteriously stops allowing the camera to catch up with him. Wes looks into the camera with a delighted expression and points to his upper right. The camera follows to where he's pointing to reveal the back of a large body just several meters away from them. The creature looks around its environment and utterly towers over Wes, so much so that the camera can clearly see all the features of the Kaiju. The camera focuses on the creature's brownish blonde hair that is covering most of the monster's body, besides its hands and face. Underneath its coat is a bumpy dark brown skin that looks almost like rock.
The camera then cuts back to Wes just in complete awe as he is observing this creature closely.
"This is truly remarkable ladies and gentlemen. Such an absolutely stunning creature. You see, every living Kaiju is a survivor and each one has developed a certain survival trait to allow these ancient creatures to still go on living to this day." Wes says while trying to contain his excitement.
"And Sanda here is no exception to that rule. Sanda was originally discovered in the Bavarian Alps, in Germany, which has a significantly colder climate than here on Monster Island. So how is he able to live here you say? You see, the hair that is covering his entire body allows him to regulate his body temperature very easily. Sanda appears to have control over his hair fibers, which can become more densely packed together to insulate heat or incredibly loose to allow heat to vent from his body. Think of a jacket that can turn into a tank top whenever you want. This unique trait grants Sanda the ability to quickly adapt to any climate.
Sanda bellows out a loud roar which gets the attention of the camera as it focuses on the ape-like face of the giant. Although not on camera, Wes expresses his delight with a brief laugh.
"I don't know how big he will look on the footage but he looks to be about Sixty meters and that is massive. For a reference, he is twice the length of an adult blue whale.
Suddenly Sanda begins sniffing the air around him, with each of his inhales being clearly heard. The creature then starts to walk again, taking large lumbering steps that shake the ground like before. Curiously, the monster takes only about four steps before stopping and then squatting down to the jungle below.
Wes walks into view of the camera being careful not to obscure Sanda. "If this is what I think it is then we are in for a real treat, let's go check it out shall we?"
The camera feed cuts out and then turns back on showing Wes significantly closer to Sanda than before. "Sorry about that folks, but it took us a good while to get to where Sanda is. Although it was a few steps for him, it was a little under a kilometer walk for us. But we made it and thankfully he's still here."
The sounds of Sanda bellowing a low growl and vegetation being ripped apart fills the air. Wes takes advantage of this and decides to get a bit closer to Sanda. Even though he was squatting, the camera couldn't keep all of him in the frame.
Wes eventually gets close enough to his liking to see Sanda uprooting trees and consuming them with his powerful jaws.
"It is surprising, isn't it? A large muscular creature, such as this, is actually a herbivore. And it appears that he has developed a taste for banana trees." he says with a chuckle as Sanda takes a bite into another tree.
"Incredibly large muscles, like Sanda's, need protein to develop and grow. But plants contain very little protein and usually large amounts of it are only in eggs and meats like beef and chicken. However, even though Sanda only eats plants, he is able to still have a muscular build due to a special bacteria inside his stomach. Very much like modern day gorillas, the bacteria inside his stomach also feeds on the vegetation Sanda consumes and in return the bacteria creates protein which gets absorbed into his body.
Wes then looks back at the camera gesturing to the cameraman to look at Sanda's chest. The camera shifts its focus from Sanda's face to his torso which has some noticeable cuts on it.
"If you see there, it seems that Sanda got into a scuffle with another Kaiju before encountering us. With so many different species living here, it's practically unavoidable. The Defense Forces here have built countermeasures all along the borders of each Kaiju's territory to keep them from encountering each other, but sometimes it inevitably happens. Despite how nasty his wounds might seem, all Kaiju are incredibly tough. Those cuts are basically like scratches to him and he will completely heal in just a few days."
The sounds of grinding vegetation stop and after having his fill, Sanda stands back to his full height. Before moving again, Sanda spreads his arms out while slightly puffing his chest out.
"Are you getting this? He's stretching, he's actually stretching! Haha"
The creature lets out a low animalistic groan and retracts his arms to their normal positions. Sanda then begins to move his left leg, raising it over Wes and briefly casting a large shadow overhead as he steps over the adventurer and plants his foot meters away and continues the process again with the right leg. The camera watched Sanda until he disappeared behind a valley wall. Wes was left speechless as he finally turned around to face the camera with his mouth agape.
For a moment he was at a loss for words and was just processing his recent experience. He finally utters two simple words "bloody fantastic!" he says with an even bigger grin than he had before.
"That truly was amazing in every sense of the word. While Sanda was stepping over us, I was able to get a good look at his feet. Despite it being part of his name, his feet are very proportionate to his body. They're just big compared to us. With that I say we conclude this very eventful day.
