Bella, the Vanderbilt Vampire:
Recap: Bella's POV:"Alright, see you on the road Sam." He nodded and got back in his truck and we got into our vehicles littered all over the road. Everyone started their engines and we began our journey across the United States.
Chapter 17: Road Trip!
We have been on the road for hours. We had made it into Oregon a few minutes ago. I suggested to Edward who was currently driving in the lead that we stop at the visitor center. He nodded his head in agreement because the wolves were thinking about their hunger and their bladders. Poor Edward has had to listen to those silent complaints for a while now. I made out the little building a mile up the road. Edward sped up a tad and pulled off at the exit. He parked the Volvo and we waited for the others. Alice pulled up with Jasper in the Porsche, Carlisle and Esme followed in the Mustang, Rosalie and Emmett came flying through the parking lot in the monster Jeep, and the wolves came rolling in last on their motorcycles.
"What's up Bells? Why'd we stop?" Emmett asked.
"We needed to stop for a quick snack for everyone and a bathroom break." I explained. He nodded his head and took Rosalie's hand as they walked into the forest behind the building. The wolves raced to the restrooms, pushing and shoving each other as they laughed. The rest of the Cullens made their way to the forest for a quick hunt. I turned to face him as Edward slid his arms round my waist.
"What shall we do love?" Edward asked me.
"That is a good question." I said.
"One that needs an answer," He replied and tapped my nose.
"I can certainly think of quite a few things to do. But unfortunately none of them are appropriate until after marriage." I teased.
"Then what kind of fun can we have love?" He asked.
"Well, what if we made this trip into a fun sight-seeing road trip?" I hesitated.
"Well what is there to do in Oregon?" Edward mused.
"There are national parks we can visit." I suggested.
"I like the idea, but we just need to check with our traveling companions." He stated.
"Alright, but in the mean-time, how about we do something else?" I hummed.
"I don't know, love" Edward mocked.
"Well, have it your way. I can refrain. It won't kill me to keep these lips to myself." I taunted.
"Now Bella, play fair." He demanded.
"Like you have, trying to make me beg for one small simple kiss?" I acted offended and turned away from him so that he would not see the smile stretching along my face. "I should make you earn a kiss from me," I said.
"Oh, how may I ever earn one of your soul-shattering kisses love? I cannot bear this existence without the feeling of your lips upon mine." He moaned dramatically.
"I suppose if you want my kisses then you shall have to catch me," I said and took off at a human pace for the trees. I ran out of the human's sight and then sped up and jumped through the trees.
"Bella, I believe that you have forgotten that I am the fastest in the family," He said from directly behind me. I twirled around to face him.
"Edward, my beloved, you have forgotten that I am in fact the trickiest to catch." I said and jumped down. I ran faster and in odd patterns so that he would hopefully lose me. Then I circled back to the edge of the tree line where the rest stop was located. I waited for a minute or two before deciding that I had lost him and made my way towards our caravan. Then I heard a rustle of leaves and turned in time to see Edward lunge. He was able to grab me and we rolled through the freshly cut grass. Both of us laughed as we rolled. We finally stopped rolling with Edward landing on top and pinning my arms.
"I believe I caught you love. Now for my prize," he said and swiftly dove in and captured my lips with his. I melted at the electricity thrumming through my undead veins from his heated kiss. Edward pulled up when we heard wolf-whistles being thrown at us from our friends.
"Get a room Bells!" Jake hollered.
"Get a life Jake!" I yelled back at him as we made our way over to where the pack was waiting. "Did you all have a chance to get a snack and use the facilities?" I asked everyone. They nodded as the rest of the Cullens made their way back to the group.
"Do you want to tell them love?" Edward asked me.
"Tell us what?" Rosalie asked.
"Well, I was thinking we can make this trip memorable by sight-seeing along the way. What do you all think?" I asked the group.
"I think it sounds fun!" Embry said.
"Yeah, we've never been outside the rez before." Paul said.
"Where are we going to go?" Quil asked.
"I have a list of attractions here that we can look at." I said and pulled out the flyer from my pocket. Everyone passed it around, quietly thinking for a minute.
"Can we go to Crater Lake? It is supposed to be the deepest!" Jared exclaimed.
"We can dive to the bottom!" Emmett agreed,
"But, what about the witch's hut in Forrest Park?" I asked.
"What about it Bella?" Jasper asked.
"I don't know I just have this feeling that I need to go there." I said looking at the ruins on the page in my hand.
"It might be the Venustus Eligitur Salvatoris instinct inside of you," Sam interjected. "And if it is, then a supernatural needs your help there. You should definitely go to the witch house."
"I hate to keep you all from something you want to do though." I explained.
"What if we go to the witch house first and celebrate afterwards at Crater Lake with a picnic?" Esme added.
"That sounds fantastic. What do you think, love?" Edward asked.
"I agree. Let's go hiking." I said. Everyone agreed and we loaded up our caravan. We plugged in the coordinates of the trail and headed that way. I wonder if this supernatural entity will need help. Can I help them? I don't want to let anyone down. And I definitely don't want to drag everyone on this hike if I will be unable to complete my duties as this infamous Venustus Eligitur Salvatoris. Hopefully, I can help.
"Love, what are you thinking about? I can hear the gears turning in your head." Edward said from behind the wheel.
"I am thinking about this hike. What if it's all for naught? I don't want to drag everyone around because of this feeling I have." I explained.
"You need to believe in yourself Bella. If your instincts are pulling you towards this old witch house, then this is where you need to go." He said.
"But what if everyone gets mad at me for dragging them along?" I asked.
"These people are your family. They want to help you in any way that they can. In this case that is being by your side as we hike to the house. We want to be beside you the entire way Bella. Every one of us loves you. But remember no one can love you like I do." He stressed.
"Alright. I believe you too. And I also believe that I love you way more." I said and leaned across the middle and kissed his cheek. He grabbed my hand and pulled it to his mouth and kissed the back. He kept a firm hold on it and ran circles with his thumb making my entire hand tingle.
"I will work every day the rest of my eternity proving you wrong. I love you more than birds love the wind beneath their wings." He said as we pulled up to the trail head. He parked and zoomed around to open my door. "After you love," he said. I hopped out and into his arms. He pulled me into another earth shattering kiss as the group arrived behind us. We pulled away quicker than normal.
"Is everyone ready to hike?" I asked. The pack and the Cullens all gave me affirmation. I nodded and faced the forest. "Let's do this," I said more to myself rather than the group. We began our trek into Oregon's wilderness. I hope this goes smoothly. Everything else in my life has been kind of rocky. But I have faith.
(AN: Hey everybody! Sorry this has taken me over a year to update. I have been incredibly busy! I am in the middle of my residency and have been unable to solely focus on all of my stories. I hope you enjoyed this chapter though. It was shorter than normal. I have a big chapter for next time planned. It has lots of action and some new characters that I hope you will immensely enjoy.
