Chapter 3: Dinner table
Ben isn't taking part in this conversation; he is just there. Aware that the others can still see him but not offering any advice. Five, now owner of a time travel briefcase is already putting a plan together. They need to bring the fight to the commission, attack the headquarter. After a heated discussion Vanya suddenly excuses herself, she has an important concert the next day, they are invited and they don't need her anyway for a mission. No one stops her and that makes Ben feel a bit guilty. Vanya is their sister but most times she get´s ignored, like Klaus. Before he can change his mind Ben follows her.
"Good luck with your concert. I will come and listen." Ben tries to smile but he still feels a bit of the anger towards all of his siblings, still Vanya is the one that didn't have it much better as a child.
Surprised Vanya turns around and looks at Ben. Before she can say something Ben feels how the energy he gets from Klaus disappears. Klaus must have fallen asleep. Not the best moment but Ben can´t change it. Vanya still stands there looking confused around. "Thanks." Vanya takes her bag and leaves the academy.
Back in the kitchen Ben listens to the plan. "We need to get our hands on the handler and find out what causes the apocalypse. With her gone we can have a reasonable conversation with whoever takes over the commission. We can find out what it takes to let Klaus and his soldier in peace and save the world in the progress." Sounds good to Ben and the others nod and stay uncharacteristically silence.
"We fucked up." Diego suddenly says. Ben isn't sure he knows that he is here but who cares. It has to have benefits to be a ghost.
"Idiot." Five says. "Of course, we did. It´s not like we had a role model to know what a family is supposed to look like. But we are adults and live in the real world where we can find out what is good or bad on our own." It sounds … humble, Ben would say. Who knows what their brother had done in those 45 years in the apocalypse. Maybe he read some books, other then about math and physics.
"So, Klaus will leave after we prevented the apocalypse and stopped the commission from killing his boyfriend?" The thought makes Diego sad and Ben sees the regret in his dark eyes.
"As if anyone of us had any contact with him before. It will be like before. Klaus never was here. He disappeared and never really returned except to steel from us." Oh Ben wishes for some power to kick Luther in his giant monkey ass. Five rolls his eyes.
"Yes, Luther that's exactly the wrong way to think and the reason one of our brothers will leave." Five turns around and leaves the kitchen.
"Sometimes I wonder what you have up there in your head, a brain, it´s not a brain." Diego gets up and follows Five, they wait until the morning. Until Klaus and Dave had the chance to sleep.
"What did I do?" Luther asks but Allison just shakes her head. She isn't really agreeing what he said but he isn't wrong either.
"Let´s get some sleep. Tomorrow will be a long day." With a hand on his arm Allison pushes Luther out of the kitchen. That leaves Ben behind. He looks at the empty kitchen. Where all his siblings had sat an hour ago. Now he is the only one left. Ben sights and goes to the living room. He would prefer to stay close to Klaus but he would give the to love birds the night.
