"I just want it to be on the record that I disapprove of this union," Quinn said as she helped her grandparents clean up from the barbeque that they had just thrown. "Also why aren't they helping?" Quinn nods towards the couple that was curled up together under a large patio umbrella, sharing the same hammock. She suspected that the two had fallen asleep ages ago, and for some strange reason neither one of her grandparents or Rachel seemed keen on waking them up so they could help.
"We know dear," Artemis said, her tone slightly reproachful as she turned to look at the couple that had fallen asleep. Her granddaughter had found her fated person, it was all that she had wanted for her granddaughter.
"Why isn't anyone taking this seriously?" Quinn griped. "She abandoned Charlie twice, she was willing to let Charlie marry someone else. Why are we all pretending that she didn't all but ruin Charlie's life for years?"
Rachel gently touches Quinn's arm, trying to stop the rant before it really got started. She'd been like this for the entire year since Charlie had introduced the family to Santana as her soulmate. "My parents wanted me to break the bond as well, and it wasn't as if there weren't days that I didn't think that they were right. Especially during your recreational drug phase. Are you suggesting that you wouldn't have forgiven me?"
Quinn immediately blanched at the accusation, and she can practically feel her grandfather's shit-eating grin at Rachel's query. "Of course, I would, but I know you certainly wouldn't have allowed me to marry someone else. The moment you figured out that we were soulmates you would have made it very clear that we were meant to be in some grand romantic gesture," Quinn points out. "I don't see why Charlie had to dive head first into this relationship, she's only going to get hurt."
Lawrence looked at his own soulmate who sighs at Quinn's dramatics, it had been like this for months. Though Quinn seemed to know better than to actually comment on Charlie's life decisions in front of Charlie. "Because for the first time since that fateful day, your sister is actually happy. She hasn't been faking for our sakes. Whether you agree with it or not Quinn is inconsequential. Charlie simply decided that there was nothing in their past that would stop her from loving Santana, and forgiving her."
Artemis glanced at the hammock where Santana seemed to be stirring, and watched as Santana sat up and studied Charlie carefully before gently brushing some of the hair that was probably in Charlie's face aside. "She tried to make up for it, she gave up her claim because she thought that was what Charlie wanted, it wasn't. They figured it out Quinn. And you should be happy that Charlie's finally happy. Hasn't she called you more?"
"Yes but—"
"She visits us more too," Lawrence said cheerfully. "Plus, her acting has gotten much better, right Rachel?"
"She now has a well of emotions to draw from, anger, sadness—there are talks that she's going to be nominated for an Emmy this year Quinn, and she's got several Oscar worthy projects in the works," Rachel says helpfully.
"You're supposed to be on my side!" Quinn insists immediately.
"But you're wrong?" Rachel blinks and smiles at Quinn's outraged expression. "You wanted Charlie to have what we have; you've always wanted that if anyone should be happy it's you."
Quinn is about to respond when Santana suddenly approaches and everyone turns to look at her causing her to stop and stare back. "Charlie's going to get burnt, I'm just looking for the sunscreen," Santana says meeting Quinn's gaze.
Before Quinn can respond, Rachel is reaching for her purse and pulling out some sunscreen and handing it to Santana. "You should always carry this brand around, they're awful at remembering it. And they're especially awful when they get burnt, all the whining."
"I don't whine."
"You were just whining," Artemis points out.
Santana flashes her a smile and takes the bottle from Rachel, "Thanks I'll bring it back when I'm done and I'll make a note of it." She heads back to the hammock and pokes Charlie in the stomach. She's rewarded by a sly smile from Charlie even as her eyes were closed. She can't help but laugh and shake her head at her soulmate, breaking the bond had been the biggest mistake of her life. It wasn't as if Charlie completed her or anything so drastic, she wasn't a teenager anymore, but Charlie complemented her in ways that she wasn't aware that she needed. "You need sunscreen."
Charlie opened one of her eyes, "Are you going to help me put it on?"
"Your grandparents are watching, and the last time I helped you—well you wouldn't stop moaning. Quinn already hates me."
Charlie turned to look at her twin who was indeed watching them and immediately held her hand up and flipped Quinn off causing her twin to scowl at her and then roll her eyes. "Well now she doesn't like either one of us, and you can help me put sunscreen on."
Santana snorted, and squirted some of the lotion into her hand and looked at Charlie who pushed her chest out. It's enough to cause her to shake her head and immediately go for Charlie's exposed skin. Touching her arms and placing a generous amount of sunscreen on her nose. "Don't be such a dork. You're supposed to be a famous celebrity."
"A famous celebrity who is also a massive dork," Charlie corrected as she traced a pattern on Santana's hand as she rubbed the sunscreen into her arms.
Santana flicked Charlie's nose, "No. I don't mind an audience, but we're not doing it in front of your grandparents. And your twin, she'll think I corrupted you." Santana whispers to Charlie her cheeks flushing as Charlie flashed her a small smile.
"When we both know that I corrupted you."
"I'm pretty sure you were insatiable once you had your first orgasm," Santana argues. "I mean I did corrupt you."
"You gave me an orgasm—"
"Seriously!" Quinn shouted causing both Charlie and Santana to turn to look at her. "We can hear you!"
Charlie once again raised her hand and immediately flipped Quinn off again before sitting up and kissing Santana. "I love you," she murmurs against her lips. She finally had someone to fuck with Quinn with, her life was perfect, and she no longer had to see her therapists. She felt like her old self again.
"Your sister is going to murder us in our sleep," Santana says glancing at Quinn. "Stop antagonizing her—at least in front of your grandparents. We can go back to fucking with her after," she takes Charlie's hand in hers and feels a familiar squeeze, like Charlie didn't truly believe that this was real and smiles. Things hadn't died down in the slightest between them, if anything she was certain that they were still heating up. And for the first time in a long time she couldn't wait to see what the future held.
