Chapter 5:

"What is going on here?" Stiles exclaimed.

Theo and Liam sat up, but neither of them could bring themselves to put any space between each other, though their hands did disentangle.

"Uh..." Liam stammered. He didn't know what to say.

Scott lifted his nose to the air, sniffing at it. Malia does the same. When they look down, their faces are appalled.

"This isn't the first time," Scott gripes.

"What do you mean?" Stiles turns to Scott, the perplexed look on his face becoming laced with anger.

"The smell is too strong for this to be a one-time thing."

Theo took a subtle, experimental sniff of the room. Then he leaned towards Liam, whispering in his ear. "Your room smells like me." Liam shivered as his breath hit his ear.

"No! No! Stop that! Stop it!" Stiles screamed at them.

Theo smirked at this greatly presented opportunity. He leaned over toward Liam, keeping his eyes on Stiles the entire time. He leaned closer than closer, wrapping his arm around Liam and taking the other to turn his face towards his own. Before their lips could meet in a kiss, Stiles chucked a pillow at them.

"Ew! No!" Stiles screamed as he threw it.

Theo deftly caught the pillow and used the brief moment of cover to press his lips to Liam's in a quick, fiery kiss.

Stiles, and this time Malia and Scott, let out a yell.

"When...when did this happen?" Stiles asks furiously.

Neither Liam nor Theo answered. Instead, Theo got out of bed, shuttling everyone out of his room. Scott, Malia, and Lydia went easily, all too stunned to do anything more than follow Liam's guiding touch. Stiles was a little more difficult, and after escorting the others out of his house, Liam had to go back to his room and push an angry and sputtering Stiles out. He locked the doors and the windows as quickly as he could before running back up to Theo. Liam opened the door to find Theo shivering, despite the layers of covers he was under.

"I'm cold," Theo pouted.

Liam let out an amused laugh.

"And you just about got me killed by our friends."

"Your friends," Theo corrected, still smirking.

"You still almost turned them into raging werewolves at me."

"Stiles isn't a werewolf."

Liam rolls his eyes. Theo takes this opportunity to snuggle into Liam, letting out a low, satisfied growl as he does.

"What am I going to tell them?" Liam questions.

"I don't care."

"That isn't a good answer."

Theo pulls back, an annoyed look on his face.

"What does it matter what we tell them? To be honest, it is none of their freaking business."

"They are going to ask, I need to have something to tell them."

"Just, I don't know, just tell them that, um..." Theo trails off, obviously uncomfortable and unsure of what to say.

Liam flops onto his pillow, staring up at his ceiling. He doesn't know what to do, how to figure this out. Last night, everything had been so simple. It had just been him and Theo, alone, together. It was perfect. There was nothing at all complicated about them. Liam wished that it could always be like that, but of course, that isn't life. Theo curled up into Liam.

"I'm sorry." He whispers. "I'm sorry Liam. This is all my fault. This shouldn't have happened."

"So you're saying this was what, a mistake?"

"Yes! I never should have kissed you. You're just baby wolf and I never should have done this."

Liam can feel tears pricking at his eyes and he hates it. He hates that with just a few words, Theo has successfully made Liam want to cry. He hates it. And he hates that he knows Theo can smell the sadness on him. When he feels Theo's hand on his shoulder, he turns away.

"I'm sorry. I didn't..."

"Didn't you though!" Liam yells at him. "Didn't you mean that it was a mistake? I know you did! Just go Theo!"

"Liam," Theo tries.

"No! Just go!" And, reluctantly, Theo does.

As the weeks go by, Theo and Liam stay as far from each other as possible, which is hard to do since they are living in the same house. Without the comfort of each other next to the other in bed, neither boy sleeps very well. Theo's nightmares are full of new vigor and Liam begins having ones about Theo, dying. It is terrible. Liam suffers more than Theo, who is extremely trained in pushing down his feelings, does. Not only is he sleeping less, but he eats less and practices twice as hard. He ignores all of his friend's pesterings.

Mason and Corey try to talk to him, figure out what is going on, they even tell Scott to call and check up on him, but Liam just dodges their questions and ignores Scott's numerous voicemails. No matter how many times they try, nothing works. As Liam gets skinnier and the bags under his eyes grow deeper and darker, they all wonder if maybe it is time to resort to the last person who they think might help.

Theo.
