Chapter 3
AN: Thanks so much guys! Lots more people than I thought reviewed my story! I'm probably make my paragraphs slightly shorter because I find it makes them easier to read. This is where the story starts to get a bit more interesting because there are more people in it. Please follow me :) .
I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Me, Bex, Liz and Macey stare at the screen. I no longer cared that Bex didn't tell me she put cameras in Zach's room. If she didn't, we never would have known about the boys being here.
"So what are we going to do about this?" Bex asked. "What do you mean?" Macey replies, just as confused as I am. It's not like we were going to kidnap them or anything. Actually, knowing Bex, that probably was what she wanted to do.
"I mean, we can't just let them get away with not telling us!" Bex exclaimed. I just stare at her for a minute before saying, "Bex, we have't seen them for around one and a half years, why would they tell us. Plus we weren't actually that close friends with them!" Bex seemed offended that I thought we weren't really friends with them.
"Of course you don't think we're close friends with them, you only wanted to spend time with Zach," she argued. I glare at her and say, "Actually, I strongly disliked him!" Bex nods her head for a second. "That being in past tense of course, you clearly like him now," she replies. I glare at her again.
Sure Zach was an incredibly hot and mysterious spy boy who often appeared in the dangerous moments of my life. But that doesn't mean I like him, well not really. I don't think. I mean, he doesn't really tell me anything and often tries to stay away from me 'to keep me safe' but i'm a spy, I can't believe anything.
"We could prank them all," Liz says quietly. We all turn to look at her because:
She hadn't spoken in a while
It was a very good idea
"We should definitely do that! They deserve it, I don't know what for, but they deserve it," Macey says. We all agree and set to work and try and think of some good pranks. Some include:
— Add temporary hair dye to their hair gel or spray so that they will look like someone did a terrible job of dying it since they will probably only put it on the top of their heads (idea credits to Macey)
— Take all their clothes so they have to go to meals in their pyjamas (idea credits to Bex). I pointed out that they may sleep in just their boxers. Bex just grinned and said, "Even better!"
— Make a trail that leads to Mr Solomon rooms so that they go inside, thinking there is something in there, when it's actually just an angry Mr Solomon. (idea credits to me)
I notice that Liz has been pretty quiet while Me, Bex and Macey had been brainstorming.
"Are you alright Lizzie?" I ask. She grinned at me. "I have it!" she says and we look at her confused. "An amazing idea for a prank!" She explained exasperatedly.
In that moment I seriously worried for the boys because Liz was our smartest roommate and had probably had thousands of ideas in her head. And she had managed to narrow it down to one.
"Yes, what is it?" Macey demanded impatiently. We look expectantly at her as she says "Macey you will have a very important part in this prank, we should put waterproof makeup on the boys that makes them look like they have hickeys!"
We all stare at her for a minute before Bex and Macey say things like "Bloody brilliant!", and "OMG yes we should totally do that!"
"No," I say. My friend all look at me. "Why the hell not?" Bex asked questioningly, and I could tell she would argue with me until she got her way. But I argued anyway, I was going down without a fight.
"Because when my Mom sees them she will come for us- mainly me- and when Mr Solomon sees them he will definitely come for them, more specifically Zach!" I explain exasperatedly. I tell them that because Mr Solomon was my dad's best friend, he tries to protect me, and if he sees a hickey on Zach's neck, he will probably assume that I have one too. And then Zach will be dead.
"You seem to care a lot about Zach being dead but not much about Grant and Jonas," Macey says slyly, "you definitely like him!" I decide to let them do the prank, to prove I wasn't that sappy. "Fine, we'll do it," I say. My friends share a triumphant look, knowing that that was going to make me say yes to it.
I glare at them as we start getting ready for bed. We planned to set alarms for two am, sneak down to their room where Macey and Bex will do the makeup while I guard from outside the room and Liz guards further down the hall.
We pack the necessary equipment: comms (which Liz has specially designed to get past the blockers that the school had), waterproof makeup (some of which was only legal in Switzerland) and a small bottle of temporary hair dye (Bex insisted that we pack it for an emergency, even though I doubt hair dye would be very useful in an emergency).
At two am we all wake up, put on comms and grab the bag with the necessary makeup. We creep quietly towards the east wing, where the boys room was located. We stopped suddenly hearing footsteps. We all pressed ourselves against the nearest wall and waited for them to pass. Based on the frequency of the footsteps and the force at which they touches the ground, I predicted it was Professor Buckingham.
We arrived at their room and Bex unlocked the door. I watched her and Macey sneak into the room and start applying the makeup while I guard. From what I could see in the dark, they were looking pretty realistic. They were soon done and we creep back to our room and go to sleep.
The next morning when we wake up (at 8:00) we start planning how we are going to react.
"They are going to be expecting us to be surprised that they are there, therefore we need to not be surprised at all," I say and my best friends all agree. I have another plan which I secretly decide to do when we are having breakfast, and i'm not going to tell my friends what it is.
Macey makes us dress slightly nicer than normal and puts makeup on all of us. i tried to get away but failed miserably. And since the waffle bar didn't open until 9:00, I had no excuse to get out of it.
We walk to breakfast slightly earlier than usual, but not enough that it would be suspicious. We sit down at the table and eat some cereal while we wait for the waffle bar to open, and 10 minutes later, it does. We get up to get some and just as we sit back down, the boys enter the hall.
They are smirking as they walk between the tables towards ours. We all glance up at them and then go back to eating our waffles. In the reflection of the orange juice, I see a look of confusion pass between them.
They sit down at our table, Grant and Jonas opposite Bex and Liz, Zach opposite me and Macey.
"Hey boys," Macey says, not looking up from a textbook she brought to the table. I look at them. They don't seem to know what is going on at all.
I pretend to study Zach's neck before pointing at it and saying, "What's that?" He looks confused and looks at my hurt facial expression (completely fake of course). I see him look in the reflection of his glass and even more confusion registers on his face. I savour the fact that I know something that Zach doesn't. This rarely, even better, never happens.
"Cammie I-" he starts, but I don't let him finish, "Look Zach, I don't want to hear your excuses, or how or when you got that, you lie to me all the time and never tell me anything," my voice cracks as I continue (I am a great actor), "so there isn't much point in you trying to explain," I finish.
His face looks really sad as he looks down at his hands. I feel really bad but a lot of what I said was truth, and that was probably why I said it. Macey was no longer looking at her textbook and instead was glaring at Zach- who looked kind of heartbroken by the way.
Macey shifted her gazed onto Grant and Jonas. "I see you have them too, what have you been doing since we last saw you?" Macey asked them with a wink. Grant and Jonas noticed that they had hickeys on their necks too, and looked more confused than they already were.
Bex and Liz pretended to be sad, but didn't say anything. We sat in silence for a few minutes before Bex started giggling. I glared at her but soon we were all full on laughing. I could see tears of laughter streaming down Bex's face and Macey looked like she was about to fall off of the bench we were sat on.
While gasping for air, Bex said "You…look…so…confused!" and then went straight back to laughing hysterically. "It's a prank, dummies," I explain and realisation dawns on their faces. Zach looks up from his lap and glares at me. I want to know why he is glaring at me and not all of us, did he think I was the only one to do it or something? Maybe it was because he was angry at himself for 'hurting me'. I will have to check with Macey later.
I stood up and walked out of the hall and patted Zach's head as I went. "Poor Zachy," I tease as my friends stand up to leave as well. He mutters something under his breath that sounded suspiciously like 'you worried me' but didn't think much of it.
Me and my friends exit the hall and shut the doors behind us, still laughing. We could hear them talking about us angrily. We probably should have been scared because they were probably going to do something much worse to us, but then we heard Mr Solomon talking to them with quite a stern voice and we laughed harder (lucky we were out of earshot by that point).
We were at the top of the grand staircase when suddenly my mom came out of her office and she looked at me. She told me she needed to speak to me and so I told my friends to go to the room without me. I walked into my mothers office, wondering why she needed to talk to me, and if it had anything to do with the circle.
