Drew blinked several times as she got used to the light in the room. She looked over at the young man who was viewing the screen on his mobile. Already dressed in his black trousers and white undershirt, Phillip looked up and smiled at her.
"Morning," he said as he stood up to stretch.
She sat up in bed and stretched as well. She looked at the alarm clock. "Did I sleep through the alarm?" she asked as she stood up.
"I figured I'd let you sleep in a little bit longer," he shrugged.
She yawned. "What time did you get up," she asked as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
He looked at his Rolex. "Around eight o'clock," he said.
"Why didn't you wake me up," she said slapping him on the chest.
He kissed her cheek. She shook her head smiling. "I should get ready," she said as she kissed his cheek.
He watched her grab a change of clothing from her duffle bag before she exited the bedroom. He took a deep breath as he headed to his closet.

Drew rinsed her mouth after brushing her teeth. She looked up at her reflection in the mirror and smiled to herself, thinking about what had transpired the past couple of days.
She blew out a breath before walking out of the bathroom. She entered the bedroom with her folded sleepwear and toiletries bag. She looked up at Phillip as she placed the items in her duffle bag.
Phillip had put on a crisp white long sleeve dress shirt. He looked at himself in the full-length mirror as he held up several neckties. He turned to face her as she stood next to him.
"So, should I go with ruby red," he said as he held up each tie next to his chest, "emerald green, or sapphire blue?"
Drew canted her head at him for a moment. She gently took the ties from his hands. "What color's your jacket?" she asked, half-jokingly as she placed the ties on his dresser.
"Right," he said, shrugging, as he looked sincerely at her, "so the black-tie, then?"
Drew laughed as she ran her palms over his chest. "You're going to make me look extremely underdressed, Phil."
Phill looked at her. She wore a long-sleeved maroon Adidas shirt, dark blue jeans, and her black trainers. Phil sighed.
"Wow," she said as she unbuttoned his top button, "I've never known you to be this tense before. Were you always this nervy when you did the whole 'meet the parents' thing?"
Phil chuckled nervously, "I was very much composed, thank you very much. I'm incredibly good at first impressions.
"Besides, their parents were more awed at the fact that their daughters were dating a celebrity athlete."
"You're incorrigible," she said, taking a hold of one of his sleeves to roll it up. He smiled and shrugged. She continued, "You've met my family before, Phil. They adore you."
"Yeah," he said rolling his eyes, "that was when I was 'Phillip Martinez, Drew's amazingly handsome and athletic best friend.
"Now, I'm just 'Phil Martinez, Drew's amazingly anxious fiancé."
Drew laughed as she worked on his other sleeve. She looked up at him, "I know it's said that when you marry someone, you marry into the family. And sometimes you feel like you have to act on pretense.
"Phil, the only opinion that should matter is ours. Especially mine," she said as he laughed. She looked into his eyes as she took a deep breath, "We can always skip the whole brunch thing."
"No," Phillip smiled.
"My parents love you, Phil. And if it weren't for this," she said as she pointed to the engagement ring, "creating some sort of Greek tragedy, they would have adopted you by now."
He kissed her on the mouth. She kissed him back. When they broke their kiss, he placed his forehead on hers as he took a hold of her hands.
"You're right," he said.
"I'm always right, remember," she said as they both laughed. "We should head on out. We don't want to be late for your first brunch."
He laughed as he let her hands go. She took a step toward the bedroom door.
"So, no tie or jacket, then," he asked one last time. She gave him a smirk. He put his hands up, surrendering. He followed her out the door. "Alright, kidding."
They both bound down the stairs and walked to the fireplace. Phillip opened the box with the floo powder and presented it to her.
"You should do the honors," he said as she grabbed a handful of the sooty Wizarding powder. "The wards will recognize you. They'd probably sound the 'stranger danger alarm' if I were to call it."
"You are such a prat," she said, smiling as they walked into the fireplace. She called out the familiar Wiltshire address as they vanished.

"Ah," the platinum blonde patriarch said as he looked at the small, blue-eyed one-year-old on his lap. "Sounds like Mum's here."
Mr. Draco Malfoy stood up as he nodded at his wife. "Why doesn't everyone take their seats. Drew's here," the wizard said.
The heads of the Malfoy family exited the large family room to welcome their only daughter. Draco allowed Andy, still a little wobbly on his feet, to lead him into the foyer. Hermione reached the foyer first. She smiled at the new arrivals.
"Mummy," the little boy squealed as his grandfather let his hand go. The boy ran toward the pair, "Daddy."
Phillip kneeled as the boy jumped into his arms. Phillip suddenly choked up as tears rolled down his face. Drew smiled as the young father hugged the boy.
Draco extended his hand as Phillip stood up, carrying the toddler. "I'm glad Drew finally extended the invitation, Phillip," Draco Malfoy said as he nodded. Phillip shook his hand and then kissed the Malfoy matriarch on the cheek.
"Welcome to Malfoy Sunday Brunch, Phillip," Hermione Malfoy said.
"Let's head into the family room," Mr. Malfoy said, "I'm sure the rest of the family will be happy to see you two."

"Well, I'll be damned," the mediwizard smiled as he stood up to greet the new arrivals. He extended his hand to the former professional basketball player. "I guess Friday's dinner went well."
"You're so going to get it," Drew said smiling at her brother as the rest of the guests laughed.
"Uncle Phillip," Trey said as both he and his younger sister hugged Phillip's legs. Andy seemed to be rather amused as he laughed at the whole scene.
"Today's not Saturday," Paige said as she looked up at the routine Saturday lunch guest.
"No, you're right, it's not Saturday," Phillip said as he looked at the pair.
"Come on, you two," their father said as he tapped both of their heads. The two children stepped back and walked with their father to their seats.
"Alright, alright," Draco Malfoy said as he headed to his seat, "Let's all have a seat and start brunch. I'm famished."
Everyone laughed as the food appeared on the table. Drew nodded at Phillip as she led him to her usual seat, next to which was another place setting as if the family anticipated Drew bringing a plus-one. Both Drew and Phillip sat down. He held Andy on his lap.
The young man nodded at Drew as they smiled at each other. Drew looked around the table and smiled to herself. Everyone began to tuck in.

"So, did you spend the whole fundraiser dinner catching up?" Junior asked as he took a bite of his ham.
Drew and Phillip looked at each other before they both answered, "No."
Everyone laughed. Phillip took a sip of his coffee and nodded at Drew.
"Uh, we were at separate tables," Drew said as she took a sip of her coffee. "He was three tables over."
"Yeah, em," Phillip said. "I was at the same table as her boss."
"So, how'd you two," Heath asked as he pointed to the both of them.
Both Drew and Phillip laughed. "Em, it was the after-dinner event the hospital had set up," Phillip said.
"Yeah, a dating auction," Drew said as she looked straight at Junior who shrugged.
"It seems as if her doctor friend, Marco, made sure she was one of the dates to be auctioned off," Phillip said.
"Way to go, Marco," Hans said raising his coffee cup. His wife, Catherine slapped him playfully on the arm. Everyone laughed.
"We have a feeling Junior and Aston had a hand in it as well," Drew said as she smirked at her brother.
"You caught me red-handed," Junior smiled. "So, I'm guessing you won the bidding war?"
"Em, yeah," Phillip said as Drew interlaced her left hand with his right hand. "I was bidding against Marco. I outbid him in the end."
"How much did you pay for the date, Phillip," Mr. Malfoy asked as he smiled at his wife.
"Em," Phillip said as he looked at Drew, "A million dollars."
All heads with shocked looks on their faces seemed to turn to the couple. The pair shrugged.
"That's like an indecent proposal in some sort of Hollywood movie," Mrs. Malfoy said. Everyone laughed as the matriarch broke the tension in the room.
"Well, he pledged another nine million to Dr. Johansson if he let him follow me out to the parking lot," Drew said, laughing.
"Wow," Junior said, "You really didn't want to let her slip through your fingertips again, huh?"
"Drew's one of a kind," Phillip said as he smiled at her bringing her hand up to his lips to kiss.
"Looks like we can officially welcome you to the family, Phillip?" Mrs. Malfoy smiled as she saw the engagement ring.
Drew blushed as Phillip looked at her. They both shrugged.
"Congratulations, you two," Payton said as everyone started to clap. The children joined in as they wondered what the adults were referring to.
"When did he ask, Drew?" Caroline asked.
"After breakfast, yesterday," Drew smiled as she shrugged.
"I'd like to make a toast," Mr. Malfoy said as he stood up holding his cup of coffee. "To the betrothed, may you always find happiness in each other as your mother and I have."
"Here here," everyone chimed in as they raised their drink vessels. Phillip smiled at Drew before kissing her cheek. Everyone started to ask questions all at once.
"So when's the big day?" Hans asked.
"Were you planning to move back to London?" Junior asked.
"Where's the wedding going to be?" Heath asked.
"Boys, they just got engaged yesterday," Mrs. Malfoy said as everyone laughed.
"We have a lot of things, still, to iron out," Drew said as she looked at Phil.
"Well, I'm sure everything will work out in the end. They always do," Mr. Malfoy said. With that, everyone nodded as they continued to tuck in.

Phillip, holding hands with Drew, rolled the sleeping child in his stroller into the foyer. Hermione held hands with her husband as they accompanied the couple to the flooing chimney.
The rest of the Malfoy clan had left within the last hour. Junior and his family were the last to leave but not before getting a confirmation from Phillip that they'd be seeing him the following Saturday for another round of wand training.
"So we'll see you on Tuesday, Phil?" Mrs. Malfoy said smiling.
"Yes, Ma'am," Phillip nodded. "I have a lot to learn as far as taking care of this little dude."
Everyone laughed. The goodbye hugs and kisses made their round. Mrs. Malfoy looked into her daughter's eyes. The matriarch smiled at her daughter as the younger doctor shrugged. The witch nodded at the young couple as they walked into the fireplace. The young man dropped the floo powder and called out the Grosvenor address.

Drew and Phillip spent six hours at the Grosvenor home. Phillip packed a suitcase with two weeks' worth of clothing for his stay at the Los Angeles residence.
Andy had awoken an hour after they arrived at the Martinez home. Drew helped Phillip prepare dinner; ribeye steak and tossed greens. The family of three enjoyed the quiet meal. The little boy was already quite attached to the former athlete.
When it was time for them to leave for the L.A. home, Phil looked around the familiar living room. He turned to Drew and nodded for them to enter the fireplace where the Muggle doctor called out the London pub and then the L.A. eatery. From there, she called out the address in the Los Angeles suburb.

Drew gently placed the one-year-old into his crib. Phillip pulled the boy's shoes and socks off. The first-time father wrapped his right arm around Drew's waist. She looked up at him and smiled. They both took a breath. He kissed her cheek.
"So, what happens now?" she asked as she turned to face him.
He ran his forefinger down the side of her right cheek. He canted his left eyebrow as he pulled her in closer to his body. She exhaled, closing her eyes as she felt his lips on the side of her neck. She knew how lucky they both were that the recent series of fortunate events worked their way into both their lives.
"Bedroom?" he whispered.
She laughed as she looked up at him. He nodded at her as they exited their son's room.
