Where It All Began
Chapter 11-Kara
Post Navy, Kara struggled to find direction. It was an agreement she and Danny made. If he was done, so was she; but they were both too young to be retired. Danny became a cop and Kara went back to school and become a high school history teacher. She actually enjoyed it, but it was a small school, and the teachers often took on extra duties, coaching sports teams or heading up various clubs to help make ends meet. Finances weren't so much an issue, but Kara got bored easily so she began helping coach softball. One day; the principal approached her with a suggestion.
"So, I read on your file that you handled weapons systems with the Navy?" Principle Abbott asked.
"Yes. That was my specialty." Kara answered.
"We formed a team last year for some rifle work. Have a couple girls interested, but it would be more appropriate to have a female coach. Is that something you'd be interested in?" Principle Abbott asked.
"Yes. That's how I got started. Was labeled an 'at-risk' juvenile due to my family situation. A coach got me interested in the Navy and the rest is history, so to speak." Kara explained.
"Excellent. The range is close to the softball field. I can take you down there tomorrow after school. The girls that are interested will be there." Principle Abbott explained.
"Perfect. Thank you." Kara answered before leaving the lounge. Her day was done; so she picked up Frankie from after-school care and her little girl; Zoe, from the babysitter. Zoe was ten months old and was spoiled rotten, mostly by Danny and Frankie.
That night; when Danny got home from work, she explained the new responsibilities to him. Like her, he had some difficulty with not always having something to do. In his case, he took extra training and become the SWAT leader and helped with jail operations. There was always something for a deputy from a small department to do. Kara had struggled but she might finally have found her 'thing.'
Super short chapter but I got the point across. It just didn't work to have Kara reunite with someone. I will go more in-depth next chapter with Danny, and his might include some sort of reunion. Thanks for the reviews.
