"Your friends…you know they were worried about you."
Raimundo flinched, his eyes dropping down, "I don't think I've ever regretted anything more in my life."
"We all have our regrets. No one is perfect and all tend to make mistakes. In the end you proved yourself Loyal to the Xiaolin side."
Raimundo sighed, "I joined Wuya on my own will. I betrayed both the Heylin and Xiaolin side. The monks at the temple think I don't hear them." Raimundo's fist tightened as he trembled. "The whispers I hear. They doubt me, they no longer trust me, and I don't blame them."
"Do the other apprentices know? Have you talked with them?"
"No, how could I? After what I almost did? I thought, maybe, just maybe if I became strong enough, I could make things better for my family. That I could be someone my siblings can look up to respect and I could be someone worth a damn, but I failed." Raimundo glared at the ground, clenching his fist, "I'm still the same poor and weak dumbass I was before I got here."
"Someone weak wouldn't have had the courage to walk back their mistakes." Naruto pointed out. He could see that Raiumndo was holding in a lot of pain from the choice he made and was now carrying the burden of guilt. He supposes since he wasn't close to the boy it made him the perfect wall to vent his thoughts and frustrations against.
Then why did I join the other team for glory and power?" Raimundo snarled.
"The lure of darkness, it can be seductive, and I've seen it in action more times than I would care to count." Naruto begin his explanation as he let out a wistful sigh. "…that kind of seduction isn't born from nothing. You were unhappy at the temple, weren't you?"
"I just feel like I didn't belong. That I wasn't good enough. Especially since I'm reminded every day that I am not living up to the potential of the wind dragon legacy." The undercut of bitterness was beginning to leak out. "So, I thought why should I even bother stay here? Everyone clearly likes you better and why would the xiaolin side need two wind Dragons?"
Wounded pride. Jealousy. The pressure to live up to the Legacy. Poor background. It was a melting pot of things that led to the disastrous situation.
He could see why it was so tempting. While he wouldn't admit it out loud Wuya was exotic and highly attractive. Her body was magically enchanted giving her curves a rare ratio not often seen naturally in this world and he could see how her power might be an allure for those who lust for strength. With her experience and knowledge, it would be child's play to manipulate a broken teenager.
One he could have prevented if he acted sooner instead of staying on the sidelines." Forgive me Raimundo, I failed as a predecessor."
The teen looked to him with confusion. "Wait what? Now I'm confused, what did you do?"
"I noticed it. I saw you could have gone the wrong way, yet I sat back and did nothing but observe to confirm my own bias. You may think yourself a failure, but you're not a bad kid Raimundo. Because funny enough you not only remind me a bit of myself, but also of my old friend Sasuke and if we can bring out the best of both of those traits plus your potential you might become the best wind dragon ever known to the Xiaolin order."
Raimundo was left speechless at this. No one, not even his parents spoke with so much fate of his potential. No one had ever believed in him so strongly. "How do you know I won't fall again? Sometimes I have these thoughts. What if I didn't intervene? What if I stayed on the Heylin side?"
"It's because those of us who experienced darkness and turn away from it are the ones that gain the strength to say 'no' when faced with that choice again. While I can't say you won't hear that voice at the back of your mind from time to time, just remember, you don't have to listen to it, but your heart. Your heart will always guide you and remember if you ever need someone to talk to my door is always open. If not, me then talk to Master Fung or Omi, Clay, and Kimiko. You don't have to carry this burden alone. Just have faith in yourself. You're my successor for a reason."
Raimundo smiled softly, "Thanks, sensei."
A few more weeks had passed and so far things had been peaceful. Currently the warriors were using the Shen Gong Wu to finish their chores with ease.
"Stand on your marks!" Omi instructed holding a timer watch. "Set yourselves! Commence with chores! Gong Yi Tanpai!"Omi, Kimiko, Clay and Raimundo ran forward to start doing their chores.
"Third Arm Sash!" Omi began to clean the windows while the Third Arm Sash scrub the floor.
"Lotus Twister!" Kimiko used the Lotus Twister to clean out the dirty objects underneath a sofa.
"Jetbootsu!"Clay used the Jetbootsu to fly up and held a duster to clean the lanterns on the wall.
" Shroud of Shadows!"Raimundo was in the kitchen and used the Shroud of Shadows to clear away the dirty dishes in the sink. "All done." Raimundo remarked.
"Excuse me?" Omi questioned.
"Just because I am not a Xiaolin Apprentice doesn't mean I have to wash your dirty dishes." Raimundo said.
"Come on, Raimundo.
"Kimiko said while cleaning the floor. "The sooner we finish our chores, the sooner we have time to hang."
"Yes." Omi agreed as he walked out of the kitchen. "Although I might choose a different activity."
"It's an expression, Omi." Kimiko groaned in disgust when she found a rotten pizza underneath a sofa and Clay landed down.
"I was looking for that."
Clay remarked and ate the rotten pizza. "Nothing like pizza for breakfast." Clay went back up while Kimiko shivered in held onto a pillar to clean the last dusty parts of the ceiling.
"Smudge!" Omi snapped. "You are no match for my three arms!" Omi continued cleaning the floors as a bee flew up to Dragon of Water used the Third Arm Sash to send the bee away." Bees!" Omi chuckled. "You are also equally warned!"
Kimiko began heading outside." Hurry up, Clay!" Kimiko called out. "I'm done!"
"Me too." Clay responded. "I am done than a rock of ribs at a Texas barbecue." Kimiko, Omi, Clay and Raimundo were hanging out in the obstacle stopped the timer watch and sat down." Now that we mastered the art of battle and Raimundo has trapped Wuya in the puzzle box." Omi said and became sad. "Perhaps chores are the only use we'll have for the Shen Gong Wu."
"It sure was a lot more fun when we had someone to fight against." Clay commented.
"Still waters may blanket the greatest of unseen hazards." Master Fung admitted as he walked forward.
"There he goes again." Raimundo said with a small frown. "Can someone get me a translator?" Master Fung took out the Shroud of Shadows and it revealed the dishes Raimundo didn't wash in the sink.
"Oh that's where those dishes went." Raimundo chuckled bashfully while Fung handed Raimundo the dishes.
"Over-confidence can be more dangerous than a lack of confidence." Master Fung stated with a smile.
"We kicked evil's butt." Kimiko complemented. "Why can't we just kick back for a while?"
"Stop everything!" Dojo ordered as he slithered forward. "Did you tell them about the new Shen Gong Wu?"
"I was just about to." Master Fung responded and took out the Ancient Scroll from his sleeves. "The Shard of Lightening is a most interesting Shen Gong Wu. It gives the user the power to travel at the speed of light, but only for short flashes of time."
"Let's go get that shard!" Dojo admitted." Oh darn, now I will not have time to finish my dishes." Raimundo said with a smile.
"They will be here when you get back." Master Fung snickered in amusement as Clay, Omi, Kimiko and Master Fung walked growled in anger and accidentally drop the dishes causing them to break on the Dragon of Wind gives a nervous grin before quickly following after his companions.
