On the island papaya was a lot hustle and bustle that must be because of the tournament. With a taxi we drove from the airport to the tournament area, where Master Roshi got us enlisted. "Wow there are a lot fighters", Krillin said as we looked around the area. "Scared boldy?" I asked him. We were with distance the youngest participants but I was confident that we would beat them. "Of course not." "That's the right attitude. I've got a present for you", Roshi said and opened the trunk he brought with him in there were orange combat gears. Here I also retreated to get changed. Like always with this clothes I only could wrap my tail around my hips after I made a hole in the bottom of the pants otherwise it was just to uncomfortable. As I returned to my campions two other people where standing there. "Ah Vic there you are. May I introduce you to Bulma and Yamcha", Kakarot said and pointed at the two teenagers. "You are friends of Ka-, Goku?" I asked and they both nodded. "And you want to participate in the tournament?" I wanted to know that could only be a bad joke. "Only Yamcha I'm only here to support him", the blue haired girl said. I nodded understanding. Shortly afterward the participants where called to the great hall, Yamcha, Krillin and Kakarot said goodbye to Bulma and the others while I was going ahead. "You're a pretty tuff guy", Yamcha said as he caught up with me and slapped me on my shoulder. With a growl I took his hand from my shoulder and stood in line to draw a number for the preliminary fights. We where lucky and the numbers we drew where so much apart that we landed in different groups so we would meet each other in the quarter finals.
As expected the opponents weren't a big challenge. Kakarot, Krillin and Yamcha also qualified for the live battles. Other than the four of us where Bakterian a big scruffy guy, Jackie Chun such a disgusting guy as Roshi with gray hair, Nam a monk and Giran a dragon. The host explained the next steps for us, he would call our names and than we should step forward and draw a ball with a number. "Now let us start first Jackie Chun", he said and the sleazebag stepped forward, he drew number three. Than was Yamcha's turn he drew number five, than was I with number four. So I would compete against Jackie that should be easy. After everybody had drawn his number the parings looked as following.
Bakterian against Krillin, Jackie Chun against me, Yamcha against Nam and Kakarot against Giran. I grinned to defeat Kakarot in the finals would be a huge satisfaction.
While Kakarot and the others watched the fight of boldy intensely I had retreated to the building. "Don't you want to know what the two of them can do one of them could be your opponent." I looked up in front of me stood Nam who was watching me intensely. "Why should I they're no opponents for me", I said after a snarky snort. "Arrogance has brought down a lot of big fighters", he said und went away. Unnerved I rolled my eyes lucky I soon would get rid of the planet and his annoying inhabitants. Krillin won his fight and Jackie and I were called into the ring.
The gong rang and the fight started. The guy was pretty fast for a man his age and dodged my punches often and landed one hit after an other. He pushed me to the edge of the ring but I was able to dodge once more. I jumped into the air and wanted to hit him from above but it seemed that he had anticipated that so I landed full force on the ground of the ring. I stood still a little dazed and Jackie took his chance grabbed me at my wrists and threw me over the edge of the ring. Like a wet sack I sat outside the ring, this couldn't be true I lost against a normal human though it was only because of a mistake, so I wouldn't be able to defeat Kakarot. I got up with a sigh, maybe Nam was wright with the arrogance and I really should become more modest.
Now I was watching the other fights spellbound maybe I still could learn something. To my shame I had to admit that Kakarot wasn't so bad for a third-class warrior. After all I fought in the final against Jackie. The fight lasted quite long until something strange happened. Kakarot was laying on his back and his body started to shake. "Not again", I heard Yamcha say beside me. "What?" I asked him. "The full moon if Goku sees it he turns into a giant ape", he said and pointed at the sky. Quickly I turned my gaze back at Kakarot and the idiot actually turned into an Oozaru. My tail also started twitching but I took care not to look at the sky people had already enough to do to keep one giant ape at bay, so I didn't need to transform as well even if I could control my Oozaru form unlike Kakarot. While Kakarot started to crush everything around him to ash and dust, the humans started to run away screaming which let me smirk. Suddenly Jackie Chun aimed an energy wave at Kakarot and as the smoke cleared the Oozaru was gone. "Have you gone mad. You killed Goku!" I heard Bulma scream. "What are you talking about, your friend is fine", Jackie said and pointed at Kakarot who was laying naked in the ring. Slowly he regained consciousness and got up und wanted to continue the battle right away but the host interrupted the fight so he could get dressed again. After Krillin had lend him his battle gear the fight continued. After everything Kakarot lost against Jackie.
Together with Yamcha and Bulma we left the area as we crossed path with Roshi. "There you are you missed the whole tournament", ranted Bulma. "I saw everything perfectly", he said grinning. "And what are we going to do now?" Yamcha wanted to know. "Looks like we have to train even more", I said with a side glance to Kakarot. "That's wright. But I can't teach anymore to you and Goku it's best you go on a journey", said Roshi. Kakarot and I exchanged a glance than I shrugged and said: "As you wish." I raised two fingers to my forehead and waved at them like that and disappeared.
