Marinette was still talking to Master Fu when her phone started going off. Surprised, she fumbled with her device to try and figure out what was the matter. It was an akuma alert, and also a message from Alya.

"An akuma?"

The bluenette ignored her friend's message for a minute to click on the live news report.

"Don't be bemused, it's just the news. This is Nadja Chamack, reporting live from in front of the Louvre Palace. Just minutes ago, as the Louvre directors and a small group of researchers began their examination of the Yucatan Albino, tragedy struck. It's speculated that an akuma attacked the group and stole the body!"

Marinette gasped, looking to Fu. Both knew that if they wanted to prevent Hawk Moth from getting a new miraculous, they had to act immediately.

"After the akuma bit everyone in the room, it took off, fumbling into things, setting the museum's silent alarms off. Police arrived too late to stop the villain from leaving. We can only hope Ladybug and Chat Noir are able to prevent us from losing such a priceless piece of history! So far, those attacked have yet to come to. Police say they lost a lot of blood..."

"Looks like there's no time for planning, Master," the teen said, standing up.

"Good luck, Marinette."

"Good luck," Wayzz said with a wave.

"Tikki, spots on!"

No longer hungry, (blank) looked at her new surroundings. She couldn't tell what anything was. There were some sort of stone structures, not made of anything she had seen before. Some textures were completely smooth and transparent like calm water, while others appeared to be as black as a starless night sky.

Then, there were those loud creatures that belched black smoke and roared as they raced past without legs. They also made weird, loud noises whenever she stood too close to them, but never attacked, so they could be docile. Not to mention those smelly cylindrical containers full of odd things and food.

It was hard to navigate anything, especially since she had to avoid stepping out into the sunlight. She had accidentally done so, her left arm burnt and blistered. As soon as she got something in her stomach, it would go away, so she wasn't worried. It did hurt, however.

Hurt.. How long has it been since she's hurt? Well, there was that ritual... Everything hurt once the liquid had touched her skin.. and those thorns cut her forehead.

It sounded bad, (blank) but supposed it made her feel more human than she had for many moons.

She did have to wonder how long she had remained secluded in that cave. She had woken up in such a strange land. Everything was so crowded. The people looked so different and wore such odd outfits.

Everything was confusing, new. Their language.. didn't make sense. Her head pulsed as she attempted to decipher what they said, but it was no use.

(Blank) had to get somewhere safe. If she had been taken and revived, there was no telling how much time was left before they released... him. And, by the gods, she would escape his grasp. The chief may have sacrificed her, and Itzamna may have marked her, but she would fight her destiny anyways. Her life would not be dictated by others anymore, at least, not willingly.

Another mortal stumbled into her path. The man seemed to have tripped over an incline in the stone ground. With how fast the sun was setting, she guessed humans had a hard time making certain things out. Her eyes didn't. They worked best in the dark.

She stood off in the shadows created by the structures on either side of them, creeping silently closer. Just half of this man's blood would give her the energy she needed to wait out the sun. Then, she could travel freely and find a distant land to hide out in. One step at a time, however.

Feeding first.

When Ladybug arrived at the Louvre, she was met by police and several ambulances. They were finishing up loading gurneys into the backs of the wee-woo vehicles when her presence was noticed

"Ladybug!" Sabrina's dad called out, running to her. "Thank goodness you're here!"

"Don't count me out," a voice tutted. Chat Noir slid down his extended poll, leaning on it once he landed.

"Mr. Raincomprix, tell us what happened."

"Where to start? An akuma attacked the Louvre directors and a handful of researchers that were investigating that body brought over from Mexico! We only found out about it after coming to see why the silent alarms were tripped."

"Did anyone see where the akuma went?"

"No. It was gone when we got here."

"I see. Is there anything direct behind, maybe?"

"No, not at all! The only thing we know is that all the people present in the room were bitten, and seem to be unconscious. The paramedics are trying to find out why."

"Bitten?"

"Yeah. Had puncture marks on their necks, according to the EMTs, and saliva."

"Can we take a look at the security footage, maybe? So we can see what we're up against?"

"Follow me."

He led the pair of superheroes to the security room, having the staff member bring up the recording and play. There were no cameras in the room that they were doing the examination, only one in the same hallway.

They watched as the door to the room flew open off its hinges by itself. Nothing seemed to cause it, yet something had to have. Even more baffling was the fact that the body wasn't being taken, either. If it had been an invisible akuma (as they've dealt with that before), you would at least see the body floating around while being carried. But for both akuma and corpse to disappear? It was impossible!

"What is going on?" the heroine asked herself.

"You're guess is as good as mine, m'lady. Perhaps it's a vampire?"

"Vampire?" she asked skeptically.

"You must watch movies, don't you, Bugaboo? Unable to be recorded, bites people, super strong? I bet it's a vampire akuma."

"Pfft, please, Chat, be serious. Since there's no trail to follow, we need to start searching the city."

"But we don't even know what we're looking for! It'll be like finding a needle in a hay stack!"

"Then we better get started, kitty."

Oh, I forgot to mention at the end the last chapter. The first chapter was more than a week after the Camazotz cave was first found. The explorers spent more time excavating items found in the cave, and only came across the albino girl some time after the initial discovery. Thought I would clarify in case things seemed to be moving too fast in regards to examining the body and such.

Also, the name is blank for a reason.
