"What the hell was that Rachel!" Finn yelled. His temper had been rising ever since the duet started. He disliked Quinn with a passion and it was no news that she reciprocated that hate.

"We were just doing our assignment. I don't understand what you're getting so worked up about," Rachel said knowing full well that she and Quinn weren't just doing their assignment.

"Are you cheating on me? Is that why you wouldn't answer my text and why you wouldn't tell me who you were with."

"Finn I'm not cheating on you! I just sang a stupid song that meant nothing! I told you I was with a friend and that's the truth! Why can't you get that through your head!?" At this point, the diva had had enough. She felt miserable when she was with Finn. He controlled every aspect of her life and was desperate to be free.

"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to get you mad," The tall boy quickly let out hoping to stop the next words from coming. Even he knew when to stop pushing Rachel.

"No! I'm done with you, Finn. I can't live when I'm with you. Every moment of every day you have to know what I'm up to and I've had enough. We're over Finn Hudson," With that Rachel walked away. She didn't care what he would say. All she cared about at that moment was Quinn. Little did she know she had already ruined any chance she had with her.

--

On the drive home, Quinn's phone started to vibrate rapidly. It almost matched her uneven breaths due to her rising temper. Singing that song with Rachel and getting that kind of praise from Mr.Schue was too much for her to handle.

Quinn was broken-hearted to put it lightly. She'd had a crush on the diva for a long time and she put herself out there when she kissed her. Rachel told her she wanted Finn instead felt like a slap in the face, especially because she knew Finn wasn't what she deserved.

Snapping out of her thoughts, the blonde glanced down at her phone once she reached a stoplight. A confused expression made its way into her face when she saw who was calling her. Taking a deep breath to calm herself down, she answered the call.

"Quinn?" She heard the barely familiar voice. It was a voice she hadn't heard in a long time. Although it had been a long time, Quinn quickly picked up on the worried tone.

"Laurel, hi, what's wrong?"

"All I said was your name and you know something's wrong. Gosh, I'm a mess," The girl spoke in a quieter voice when she got to the last part.

"I know you, Lance. Something's wrong."

"It's Sara," She let out after a beat of silence. Quinn's heart stopped when she heard that. Sara was like a little sister to her, "And Oliver," Laurel added after another beat of silence.

"What do you mean?" The blonde asked in utter confusion and concern.

"O-Oliver, he and Sara, they…they were together behind my back."

The silent confession made Quinn's grip on the steering wheel tighten. Her knuckles turning white from the force. She cared for Laurel and she hated when the people she cared about got hurt.

"How can I help?" Was all the blonde offered in response.

"Can I stay with you? I don't think I can be here after finding out. I already talked to my dad and he's okay with whatever I decide. Please Q-" Quinn hadn't let her finish due to already making a decision.

"Of course, you can stay with me. I'll drive up there to pick you up if I have to."

--

That was how Quinn found herself outside of the Lance household with her car loaded with Laurel's stuff. Quentin had eagerly welcomed her with a tight hug when he saw her. Laurel nearly cried when she showed up.

"Thank you for this," The police officer said when he got Quinn alone. He was well aware of the misfortune that came upon the blonde after she got involved with his daughter. She had no reason to help Laurel after everything but she did nonetheless and for that he was Quentin was thankful.

"Of course, Laurel…she means a lot to me. You all do. You're my second family regardless of what happened," Quinn said shrugging off his gratitude. He was about to reply when his daughter came outside carrying the last of her things.

"You ready?" Laurel asked as she made her way to the car. Quinn nodded before turning back to Quentin to say goodbye.

"You're a good kid Q-ball. Don't change okay?" He said before pulling her into a hug. She nodded against his chest before leaving toward her car giving Laurel time to say goodbye.

--

"You didn't need to do this," The brunette said quietly.

The two had stopped at a motel due to it too late and dark to drive. Greyson had been informed and he'd assured them that they wouldn't have to worry about school the next day.

"It's nothing Laur," The said spoke from the bathroom. She was washing her face when Laurel spoke from her spot on the small bed.

Laurel didn't respond, instead, she sighed and closed her eyes taking a few breaths. She allowed her only a few moments throughout the day to calm down and clear her head.

"I just…thank you. I know things didn't necessarily end well between us and you have every reason not to help me," The brunette explained once she saw the blonde step out of the bathroom.

"I care about you regardless of how we ended, Lance."

--

That night neither girl could sleep much. The blonde insisting on Laurel taking the bed while she slept on a small couch pressed up against the wall.

Quinn tossed and turned on the uncomfortable couch, but despite her greatest efforts, she couldn't sleep. Her mind was clouded with thoughts guts screaming at her. All of them focused on two girls that occupied her heart. Seeing the brunette brought back feelings she hadn't realized she still had.

Laurel wasn't that different. Her mind was filled with thoughts of Oliver's betrayal along with the blonde only a few feet away. When she was desperate for an escape, Quinn showed up and swept her away to Lima, Ohio. Being close to the girl brought back a rush of memories from years past.

"Q?" Laurel's quiet voice came breaking the unbearable silence that had settled over them.

"L?" The blonde replied as she moved to lay her head against the hard armrest of the couch.

"Why do you think they did it?"

"Honestly? I'm not sure," Quinn's response was quiet and sympathetic. How anyone would hurt Laurel was beyond her.

Beats of silence passed and Quinn had assumed the brunette had fallen asleep. She was about to turn over when she heard a quiet sniffle making her aware that Laurel was crying. Instead of saying anything, the blonde stood up and made her way to the small bed.

Without a second thought, Laurel lunged into Quinn's open arms. Comfort was the only thing she wanted at that moment.

--

The next morning, the two girls awoke feeling see from the hard bed against their backs. Quinn had spent the night holding the crying girl offering her as much support as she could. Her heart ached for Laurel.

"We should get up if we want to make it to Lima before sundown," The blonde spoke breaking the peaceful silence around them. Laurel groaned in disproval before snuggling further into Quinn's side. At some point throughout the night, they stopped caring about the contact they shared.

Quinn laughed quietly before wrapping her arms tighter around the girl bringing her impossibly closer. She'd come to realize that she missed the feeling of having the brunette in her arms.

"Ten more minutes," Laurel mumbled against her bringing the covers up to preserve as much warmth as she could. Unable to say no, Quinn obliged and sighed contentedly. Maybe Laurel was just what she needed right now.
