The next day, Rachel hadn't seen Quinn anywhere. The blonde's brothers were around but she was nowhere to be found. Rachel's worry grew when the blonde hadn't shown up to glee club. Despite Quinn's remarks about the club, Rachel knew that deep down, she loved it.
The entire day Rachel had a knot in her stomach. Being one to believe in superstitions, she took this as a sign that something was wrong. It only made her grow more concerned for the blonde.
--
The next morning, Rachel hadn't seen Quinn either. The blonde wasn't present in any of their shared classes and she hadn't been at lunch either. This is why the diva was shocked when glee club came around. She hadn't expected to see her in glee club. Let alone see her with someone else.
"Mr.Schue, shut up for a moment. I have someone who would like to be part of the club," The blonde said cutting off the teacher.
"Okay, you have to audition first, but I think you'll make it. Everyone to the auditorium," Mr.Schue said desperately wanting to avoid an argument with the blonde. Everyone stood up and walked to the auditorium despite knowing that the new girl would get in anyway; Mr.Schue never denied anyone entrance to the club. Rachel was going to tell Quinn about the breakup but decided that this wasn't the best time.
With the club in the auditorium and the new girl on stage, Mr.Schuester told her she could start. Quinn sat watching the girl with laser focus. Her hazel eyes followed her around the stage as she belted out the lyrics.
Ooh, ooh ooh ooh, ooh-ooh, ooh-ooh
You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war
You and I go rough, we keep throwing things and slamming the door
You and I get so damn dysfunctional, we start keeping score
You and I get sick, yeah I know that we can't do this no more
But baby there you go again, there you go again, making me love you
Yeah I stopped using my head, using my head, let it all go
Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo
And now I'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid crawling back to you
So I cross my heart and I hope to die
That I'll only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
But I'll only stay with you one more night
Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes
Try to tell you stop but your lipstick got me so out of breath
I'll be waking up in the morning probably hating myself
And I'll be waking up feeling satisfied but guilty as hell
But baby there you go again, there you go again, making me love you
And I stopped using my head, using my head, let it all go
Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo
And now I'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid crawling back to you
So I cross my heart and I hope to die
That I'll only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
But I'll only stay with you one more night
Yeah baby give me one more night
Yeah baby give me one more night
Yeah baby give me one more night
Baby there you go again, there you go again, making me love you
And I stopped using my head, using my head, let it all go
Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
So I cross my heart and I hope to die
That I'll only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
But I'll only stay with you one more night
(Yeah baby give me one more night)
So I cross my heart and I hope to die
That I'll only stay with you one more night
And I know I said it a million times
But I'll only stay with you one more night
She added her own tone to the song making it sound better than the original vocals. Mr.Schue was blown away, he loved it. Even Rachel had to agree that the girl had talent.
"That was great! I didn't catch your name though," Mr.Schue said as his hands gripped his hair in astonishment. He wore an excited expression, already coming up with the setlist for sectionals.
"Laurel, Laurel Lance."
Rachel instantly felt her heart shatter as she recognized the name.
--
"Quinn, can I talk to you?"
"Um, sure. I'll meet you outside Laur," The blonde said giving all of her attention to the girl beside her.
"Kay," Laurel replied giving Quinn a quick kiss, "Don't take too long," she whispered before turning to leave the room.
"I see you and Laurel are back together," Rachel said once the new girl was out of earshot.
"Yeah, some…things came up in Starling so she gave me a call and I let her stay with us. One thing led to another and we ended up together again."
"I broke up with Finn," Rachel blurted out not being able to hold it in any longer.
"Why? I thought you wanted to be with him," The blonde said feeling her stomach churn with nothing but anger.
"I did, but I thought things over and you were right Quinn; I did feel something when we kissed," Rachel said reaching for the blonde's hand.
"What the fuck Rachel," Quinn muttered, pulling her hand away. She was confused and angry with both Rachel and herself, "You tell me this now after Laurel and I get back together. After I sleep with h-"
"You slept with her?" The diva let out in a hurt voice cutting Quinn off.
"Like I said one thing led to another. Besides, that kiss meant nothing, right? You shouldn't have ended things with Hudson, you love him," Quinn had a cold edge to her voice when she spoke, of course, it was only a façade but she wouldn't let the brunette know that. Rachel had broken her heart after all.
"Quinn, I'm sorry about what I said. I wasn't thinking straight, I don't want him I want you. Please just give me a chance," The diva all but begged.
"I'm dating Laurel, Rachel. I love her. You had your chance and you blew it," Quinn didn't give Rachel the time to respond because she turned around and left.
"Hey, are you okay?" Laurel asked noticing Quinn's clenched fist when she joined her outside.
"Yeah, something unexpected happened, that's all," She said relaxing when Laurel reached for her hand and unclenched her fists. Laurel smiled and looped her arm through Quinn's and began walking.
"When does cheer start?" The brunette found herself asking.
"Same time Football does, tomorrow. Why do you ask?"
"I was thinking of cheering you on while you play and what better way than joining cheer. Besides I need some cred, I'm not in Starling anymore," The brunette said leaning her head on Quinn's shoulder as they walked.
"We'll be the new power couple, ruling the school. Plus, we're both hot," Quinn joked making Laurel let out a giggle.
"Who said you're hot?"
"You did. Last night when you were laying in my bed under me," The blonde said making a blush appear along Laurel's cheeks.
"I say a lot of things when you're pleasuring me. Half of which are true," Laurel added with a playful eye roll.
"So, you don't love me?" The blonde let out in a playful tone when they made it to her car. Laurel stood with her back against the passenger side and Quinn in front of her. Her arms wrapped around the blonde's neck while Quinn's arms snaked around her waist.
"No, no, that's true. I love you very much, Fabray," Laurel said leaning up for a kiss to add emphasis to her statement.
"And I love you, Lance. Do you have any questions about McKinley?"
"One, but it's not necessarily about the school."
"Ask away."
"It's obvious something was going on between you and Rachel, but what?" Laurel found herself asking. Unlike Quinn, she hadn't missed the longing gaze the diva sent her way.
"She was dating Finn Hudson. We spent the weekend together as friends practicing for a glee assignment, then we kissed. She said she couldn't be with me because she was with Hudson and she left. When we were practicing we argued and I left. Later that day she broke up with Hudson, but I was with you."
"Do you want to be with her?" The brunette asked mentally bracing herself for the response. Quinn paused for a moment before replying with:
"No, I love you and I want us to try again. Rachel is just a mistake that happened when we were both caught up in the moment."
That statement wasn't fully true but Laurel didn't need to know that.
