Trigger warning for a suicidal character, and swearing because Bakugou Katsuki swears more than I do so I couldn't help it.

Disclaimer: I don't own My Hero Academia.

They reach the top of the stairs, open the door silently, and file out onto the roof.

"Hey there," Izuku says gently. "Mind if we sit with you?"

The figure turns out to be a girl—middle school age. She's standing on the edge of the roof like she hasn't a care in the world. Her body is loose and relaxed. She's a skinny kid, all knees and elbows, wearing shorts and a baggy T-shirt. Her shoes are removed, and sitting neatly next to her.

The girl doesn't answer his question, so he motions for Uraraka to speak, gesturing to both himself and her. She nods.

"Hi, my name's Uraraka. How about just Deku and I come over? We could talk? Trust me, Deku is a great listener."

The girl doesn't move. Izuku gestures for Sero and Uraraka to get a little closer, but they stop at the sound of a small voice.

"No."

Izuku tenses. If the kid jumps now, they can rely on Dark Shadow, but he wants to fix the matter without her going through the trauma of actually jumping. Besides, he can't take any risks. He needs to get her talking.

"What do you mean?" Izuku says.

"I saw her at the sports festival. And I saw you guys down in the park. You're heroes. I know what you can do, so stay away!" She shouts the last part, never looking away from the ground below.

"If you know we're heroes," Izuku says softly, "you know we want to help. Talking helps, I promise."

"What do you know?!" She snaps. "I bet if you knew why I wanted to do this, you'd thank me!"

Izuku, taken aback, racks his brain for a response. Before he can think of one, Kaachan steps forward.

"Now listen up, kid. Deku wouldn't wish death on his worst enemy. And why the fuck would you think any of us would want you dead? We're heroes. We save people and shit."

"You...you wouldn't understand!"

"Tch. Try me." He says.

Izuku lets out a breath he's been holding. Kaachan's harsh, yet confident words seem to reach her more than anyone else's tentative, delicate tones.

Her fists clench, and her head raises to look above the trees below, into the blue sky and the soon to be setting sun.

Izuku meets Kaachan's eyes, and knows he does understand. He'll be there if he's needed, but for now, Izuku will let Kaachan do the talking.
