Paul was sitting in his room looking at the TV. The blonde was holding a notebook. He sighed and looked at it with sadness.
"Sorry…" The boy sighed
"Sara, why are the girls of your school terrifying?" Jayden asked
"Huh they are? They seem fine to me? Are you telling me they don't eat enough!" Sara shouted
"What no?!"
Kai and Sara decided to have Jayden stay with them while staying in the Human world to make up for lost time. Since they were cool with the Digimon Jaxomon didn't have to stay in hiding.
"Son do you eat?" Kai asked
"Please just call me Jayden...and yes I do." Jayden groaned
"Have things happened to your body?"
"Huh!? What are you talking about?"
"Why haven't you gotten taller?"
"HOW SHOULD I KNOW?!" Jayden shouted baring 'fangs'
"You should work on that."
"GRAAAAAHHH"
Jayden stood up from the coach and started to walk off.
"Do you know your way around? This place is huge ya know."
"I'll figure it out." Jayden stomped off
"Wait! We actually have to go to set, you are coming."
"Why…?" Jayden turned around
"Interviews of course! Our son just came back! The world needs to know!"
"No they don't. They really really don't"
"Enough crying and let's go!" The two shouted, grabbing Jayden by both arms and dragging him away.
"Bye Bye!" Jaxomon waved
"Jaxo! Help!" Jayden's screams were muffled out.
"So that's what happened." Shay said looking at Jayden. The boy was on his hands and knees hanging his head down. Shay, Tk, and Kari stared at the boy at the outdoor cafeteria.
"At this rate I might not be able to help in the Digital World." Jayden cried
"Im sure they'd let you go if you told them!" Jaxomon said
"I don't think they will. They're evillll." Jayden said dragging out the l.
"You over exaggerate. I'm sure being an idol is fun!" Shay said
"Right you want to be an idol, right?" Kari asked
"Well I want to act.." Shay said "But I don't think I'm right for it…"
"Huh why?"
"Oh some of the boys tell me I shouldn't say that i'm perfect for a maid."
"Who." Jayden growled
"Huh?"
"Who. Said. That." Jayden said smiling, anyone looking at the smile knew it was a dangerous one.
'Right he's super overprotective.' Tk and Kari both thought
"Oh! Uh I couldn't tell you mainly cause I don't know myself when I see them they just look like shadows and they haven't told me their names."
"Shay...don't let them speak to you like that. You are the strongest girl and I know. You're the girl who straight up slaps Digimon right?" Jayden told his sister
"Not my fault they were liars aniki." Shay huffed
"Next time they bother you just know they will be on the ground." Jaxomon said
"Don't kill them!" Shay shouted
"No no we won't do that." Jayden said cracking his knuckles
"Just focus on your idol work." Pixumon said
"What no! I'm not an idol! Just their son!" Jayden shouted "That's not how it works!" The boy cried anime tears.
"Hey Shay." The group turned to see Paul
"Heyo!" Shay smilied
Paul nodded and turned to Jayden and Kari
"We haven't been introduced. I'm Paul Ake, I like basketball and dogs."
"I'm Jayden. Not an idol! Tell everyone" Jayden said
"And i'm Kari." The girl smiled and Paul nodded
"I didn't know you liked basketball." TK said
"Hm.. I do. You as well?"
"Yeah! I played at my own school."
"We should play a match sometime. I may get competitive, forgive me if that happens."
"It's fine."
"I wanna play too!" Jaxomon cheered. Jayden eyes shot open as he turned his head to stare at his partner.
"But you're a Digimon.." Paul said. Jayden the turned to the boy
"Wha-wha-wha-wha-wha." Jayden sputtered
"I thought you were familiar. You were two of the kids who saved the world. I was there with you parents y'know."
"Oh.." Jayden said "anyways I wanna play to! I may be short and have never played before but I'm great with hand-eye-coordination from playing water polo!"
"You're on the swimming team?" Jayden nodded "Your practice started 5 minutes and 30 seconds ago."
"EH!? Really!?"
"Good thing you came to school early."
"Oh crap!" Jayden said, taking off.
"He's fast if nothing else." Patamon said
"Wait for me!" Jaxomon shouted trying to fly after him but TK grabbed him.
"I think it's best if you stay with us."
"But I want to see him swim! Goma has taught him a lot!"
"Seems like it. I thought the swim team was set in stone a while ago." Kari said "Mr. Suima would only add someone if they were really impressed."
"His name is pretty ironic." Pixumon said, getting a look from Shay.
"Hey Paul you just as tall as my brother." Shay said
"Did you just notice?" Paul asked
"Let's go see Aniki practice!" Jaxomon said
"Yeah, I want to see how fast he is." Tk said
"Are you talking about that new boy." A girl with brown hair in a split ponytail and bright blue eyes asked them. She was wearing a sweater, skirt, and a tie.
"Yeah."
"He was so cute!" A girl near her said
"I mean he is our idol principal's son." Another said
"He was super fast." the one who went up to them said "We were going to watch their practice. For some reason they're always filled." The group of girls started to walk off.
"Well we better hurry up." Shay said, walking off holding Pixumon in hand, Tk and Kari in tow holding Patamon and Jaxomon respectively, even though the latter complained about it.
Paul was about to walk behind them
"Save me Pauru." Paul looked around and gasped "Free me. Use Courage and save me….or...my mission."
'What was that.' Paul thought looking around. 'Is Shay telepathic. If so, I'm sorry...that I'm weak and useless.'
"Go Go Aniki! Go Go Go!" Shay and Jaxomon shouted
"Why do you never use his name?" Pixumon asked
"Aniki is fun to say." They both said at the same time.
"They share a wavelength." Pixumon said shaking
"He really is fast." Kari said. As punishment for being late the boy had to swim 50 laps.
"You think they'd let him introduce himself." Tk said
"I think he's introducing his skill to them. He's skill is telling them I'm better back off." Paul said
"Back off from what?" Patamon asked
"Who knows."
"Hey look at that foreign looking boy's stuffed animal." A girl said to her friend
"Hey that's cute! Maybe I should ask him where he got it from. I would like one." Another said
"Oh Look, Kamui has one to. It must be great if she has one!"
"They really respect you." Tk said to the girl
"I think it's because they feel bad for me." Shay said
"Nonsense. You are just nice to people except for when you're not." Paul said
"Thanks Paul."
"Oh looks like practice ended." Kari said
"We meet up in the computer lab after class." Tk said Shay and Kari nodded
'I forgot I have to do this bit.' Jayden grimaced. The boy didn't have great people skills from when he still lived in this world. He code switched when talking with his friends. Unfortunately for him he was the only one in his grade.
"We have a new student joining us today. Come in." Jayden walked in and wrote his name on the board. "This is Jayden Kojima joining us from America."
'America!? Just what do my parents do?'
"Hello, Im Kojima Jayden. I'm originally from Japan so you don;t need to worry about the language barrier. Please take care of me."
'That's him." "The cute, small boy." "He looks like an idol." "Well he is a Kojima."
"Quiet down class! Ugh… You can take a seat next to the girl in the tie."
The same girl from earlier raised her hand and Jayden walked over to her.
"Lucky…."
"Hey..how are you?" Jayden asked
"Good."
"What's your name."
"Kawai. That's all you need to know."
"Oh ok." Jayden turned to his bag. 'At least they packed well.' Jayden said to himself, unknowingly to him the girl stared at him with a betrayed look.'
Jayden, TK, Shay, and Kari headed to the computer lab.
"We are just waiting for Tai right?" Jayden asked
"Yeah. Knowing him he might already be there since it's the Digimon." Shay said
The group opened the door where the 3 Digimon were waiting.
"It's been so long! I was scared that I'd have to take mind erasing methods!" Jaxomon cried
"Which are?" Tk asked
"Maaaaaagic!" Jaxomon said
"Jaxo Lust...then mind erase." Pixumon said much to Jaxomon's chagrin
"Don't say!"
"Hey sorry i'm late." Tai said opening the door.
"It's fine we wouldn't leave without you." Jayden said nervously
Jaxomon hummed at Jayden
"Right let's go!" Shay shouted, preparing herself before she started spinning "Digiport Open!"
"That's what we're doing?" Jayden sweatdropped
Paul was walking home hands in his pockets. He thought back to earlier in the day when he heard Jayden talking about protecting Shay. "Why can't I be like him. He's stronger than i'll ever be. I have that power to help if I'd just figure out who wants to ruin her." Paul had a big idea on why he thought Shay was being targeted because of himself. "If it's who I think it is it's because of my cousin." Paul didn't hate his cousin because he couldn't be sure he was the reason for Shay's pain but it's what he believes. "They make her dress up like a doll because of my cousin's bad reputation and if it's him...it's because he's embarrassed that his older brother got beat by someone related to a weakling than me." Paul said out loud.
"Huh you a weakling." Paul turned to see his cousin staring at him "That talk isn't permitted here."
Paul looked around and gasped that he found himself at his cousin's apartment.
"Looks like fate brought you here and that I happened to go get my mail at this time. Now tell me what's up.
"And you think it's your fault and also mine..?"
"Not yours mainly mine...if I had listened to you, you wouldn't have to fight his brother and if I was stronger or braver I could stand up for her."
"So why don't you start now."
"Huh?"
"Go find her and apologize."
"Why?"
"You hate apologizing even when you're wrong, well scared of it so go and apologize so show you got braver."
"Ok…" Paul didn't understand but he trusts his cousin. Paul got up and started to run
'Their meeting in the Computer Lab right? Then I should head there, with courage." Paul thought running as fast as his legs took him.
"So what are we looking for?" Jayden asked
"We should probably look for the Digimon Emperor or a Digimental." Tai said
"He is still such a mystery for me." Jaxomon said "I haven't seen him just his rings."
"We'll figure out something." Patamon said
"Wait...Who'd the Digimental even go to?" Tk asked "Nobody else has this new Digivice."
"Well we got ours when I touched the Digimental of Virtue so maybe so more will spawn." Jayden suggested.
"Maybe." Tai said
"Alright Tai where should we look?" Jayden asked
"You tell me aren't you supposed to be in charge?"
"Well yeah but what does that truly mean...ha ha ha" Jayden said awkwardly why Tai looked at him.
"Tai! Tai! Come quick!" Agumon shouted running from the bushes
"Woah! Where'd you come from!' Tai said from shock
"This way I found another Digimental!' The others gasped
"Well let's go!" Tai shouted, running behind Agumon the others in tow.
"Looks like it's time for another game to begin." The Digimon Emperor said holding his hand over the Diatrymon button "Same sis couldn't be here."
Paul had just made it to the school gate.
"It's still open. Hopefully I don't get questioned.' Paul said running into the school. He ran through the halls upstairs to the Computer Lab. Huh? Where-" His thoughts we cut off as the computer glowed shooting out a blue Digivice. "What?" The Digiport started to beep and open up a portal and it dragged Paul in.
Paul fell out of the portal.
"Where am I?" Paul said standing up he looked over his body and was shocked to see that he was in a different outfit. He had a blue sleeveless jacket on with a purple shirt under it. He had on black shorts with his digivice clipped onto a belt loop. He had blue sneakers and white socks. On his arms he had gloves and his black armband.
'Guess I should look around." Paul said walking forward.
"Look at this." The Digimon Emperor said, looking on a monitor. "Lost and defenseless are we. Hm.. a digivice might be good to eliminate him now." The boy smirked and clicked the button of the Diatrymon sending in 8 after the boy.
Paul heard stomping behind him so he turned to see the 8 Diatrymon running after him. They were far away but the boy saw that they were going fast.
"I think I need to pick up the pace." Paul shouted, taking off.
"That's what happened last time but why is it just one?" Jayden asked. Tai touched the egg and the blue Digivice flew out from it but it didn't go to Tai. "So it's another kid's Digivice but who does it belong to?"
"Maybe we should head back to see if we can get a clue on who it is." Kari suggested
The group walked out of the cave were they were greeted by the sound of heavy footsteps
"What's happening!" Shay shouted
"Let's go!" Jayden shouted, taking the lead running ahead.
"Help!" The group heard a familiar voice shout
"Paul!" Shay shouted
"Shay!" The group saw Paul come into vision "I'm being chased."
Jayden turned to Tai "Show Paul to the Digimental we'll handle this." Tai nodded as he Paul and Kari ran back into the cave where they came from. Agumon and Gatomon followed.
Jayden looked at everyone still there. "Ya ready?" The other 5 nodded. "Then let's go!"
"Digimental Up!" The 3 shouted grabbing there Digivice
"Jaxomon armor digivolve to...Sparksdramon! Electric Virtue!"
"Patamon armor digivolve to...Pegasusmon! Flying Hope!"
"Pixumon armor digivolve to...Sandabadomon! The birds of Tenacity!"
The 3 chosen got on their respective partners. Getting ready for the upcoming Digimon.
"They're coming fast." Shay said
"I got a plan. Hold on tight Jayden and stay under my wings." Sparksdramon said
"Ok."
"Pegasusmon, Sandabadomon provide backup."
"Got it."
The dragon took off at the horde of Digimon and stopped in front of them and layed down on the ground.
"Um...what are you doing?" Jayden asked
"We're going to weaken them a little bit."
"Ok" Jayden prepared himself as the 8 Digimon piled onto Sparksdramon
"Your under my wings right?"
"Yeah."
"Ok. Voltage!" Sparks and Lightning started to come from his body creating a massive shock to all of the ancient bird Digimon. He flew up and landed by the others. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah!"
"Phew. Alright let's go! We can't let them recover!"
"Right!"
"Shooting Star!" Pegasusmon took the air attacking the group
"Storm Shot!" The thunderbird followed suit attacking.
"Sparking Tornado!" Sparksdramon flipped in the air and turned himself into a tornado before shooting himself at the Diatrymon ending up on the other side.
"They aren't going down easily." Shay said
"Then we have to attack harder." TK said
Two Diatrymon recovered from the shock and went after Sparksdramon
"Woah there fast." They ran after the dragon who flipped back. He then punched one before flipping and punching the other with fist of lightning. "Not fast enough though."
"Hm I see...that one in particular uses his speed to hit a multitude of attacks. His power is normal but his speed is excellent. That's one I have to look out for." The Digimon Emperor said "That boy...I hate his aura, he and that dragon need to be taken care of."
Paul was catching his breath.
"Geez they were faster than cars." The boy said
"Unfortunately you have no time to rest, we need you to see something." Tai said
Paul followed him where he saw a flaming egg?
"Huh what's this?" Paul asked curiously
"It's the Digimental of Courage." Tai said
"Whose is it?"
"Yours!" Agumon said Paul was taken back
"Are you sure?"
"Only one way to find out."
Paul looked at the eg- Digimental before walking over to it and picking it up. A huge glow shot out from the egg.
"What's happening…" Paul said. In the light a Digimon was formed, a blue dragon was curled up in the light. He opened his eyes before looking at Paul.
"Finally!" The dragon smiled at the boy jumping out of the light. "Im Veemon and your Paul right?"
"Yeah…how'd ya know."
"Well you're the one who pulled up the Digimental of Courage right? Then you and I, our partners, knights of the golden child!"
"Wait what?" Tai sputtered "You're a knight of Jayden?"
"Well not officially but he has to right! I was close to bringing him back if it was him! Of course I got sealed away for a couple of hundred years but let's not talk about that." Veemon said
"I'm confused. But I think the others need our help." Paul said.
"Right!" The group ran out of the cave where the others were fighting.
"Cool…" Paul gasped
"Hey Paul you need to say "Digimental Up' so we can help!" Veemon said
"Right. Digimental Up!" Nothing… "Huh?"
Jayden noticed this and jumped off of Sparksdramon. "Paul, that symbol is for courage y'know. It won't activate like that."
"But I don't.."
"That's a lie. If you were able to pick it up then it's made for you. I noticed you spying earlier and when I said I'd protect Shay you seemed sad. If this is about not being there for Shay then leave it in the past. Open the Digimental with your burning courage."
Paul stared at Jayden before looking determined.
"I'm Sorry." Paul said before smirking 'that's a start'. "Digimental Up!"
Veemon started to glow. "Veemon armor digivolve to...Flamedramon! The fire of Courage!"
"Paul hop on."
"OK!" Jayden ran over to Sparksdramon and hoped back on.
"Let's Go!"
"Mega Dash Impact!" Diatrymon charged while Sparksdramon stood there, Jayden went under his wings. The dragon started to spark himself up. Before charging towards them.
"Woah." Paul gasped "Come on Flamedramon after them." Flamedramon nodded before running towards them.
"Voltage." Sparksdramon collided with the head Digimon which got them to stop.
"Paralyzing Screech!" Sandabadomon paralysed the rest of the bird Digimon.
"Silver Blaze!" Pegasusmon attacked one getting the ring off
"Nice." TK cheered
"Knuckle Fist!" Flamedramon shot a fireball from his fist hitting another dark ring.
"Two down." Jayden said
"We aim for those rings?" Paul asked
"Yeah that's what keeps them under the Digimon Emperor's control." Shay said
"I don't know who that is but he doesn't sound good."
"Destruction Roar!" The 6 Diatrymon still affected by the ring let out an enormous roar. The children and their partners were flung back.
Jayden grunted as he tried to get up. "Is everyone alright."
Tk stood up "yeah."
"What was that?" Shay asked on the ground
"Paul are you ok?" Flamedramon asked
"Yeah…" Paul huffed
"What do we do now?" Sparksdramon asked, Jayden thought about it.
"Sparksdramon you should run around them to distract them."
"Okay.." Sparksramon said
"Everyone else when you find an opening attack."
"Got it." The others nodded
Sparksdramon started to run around the Diatrymon.
"Hey come and get me." The dragon said running.
The Diatrymon turned onto him and started to charge. After a bit it looked like Sparksdramon got cornered.
The dragon turned around and saw the Diatrymon all a ways ahead. Two of them got ready to charge the dragon.
"Mega Dash Impact!"
"Knuckle Fire!" Flamedramon punched one dark ring off of one.
"Double Lightning!" Sparksdramon took care of another.
Down the path Pegasusmon and Sandabadomon took care of two more.
"Flamedramon join me for this one." Sparksdramon said jumping into the air spinning.
"Yeah." Flamedramon jumped in the air and covered itself in fire.
"Sparking Tornado!" "Fire Rocket!" The two shot themselves at the remaining two Diatrymon
"Yeah!" The kids shouted
"So that's how you got here.." Shay said
"Yeah." Paul said "So um Shay..I'm sorry." Paul bowed
Shay looked surprised "It's not your fault, it's most likely mine."
"How about we compromise, it's no one's fault." Paul said and Shay smilied
Veemon stared at Jayden and Jaxomon with stars in his eyes.
"Uhh…" Jayden stared back
"Golden Child!" Veemon jumped into Jayden's arms "It's me, a loyal knight ready to aid.."
"Huh? Knights?! Since when?" Jayden panicked
"No, no. I think he's a digimon from a Digital World way back. If I remember correctly our kinds are kinda similar."
"Huh really?"
"Yeah.. Take a look." Jayden looked at the two and saw nothing in common.
"I don't see it."
"We have the same on our heads, see."
"That proves nothing." Jayden crossed his arms and Jaxomon sighed
"Um.. Aniki." Paul said to Jayden
"Hm yeah?"
"Thanks for your help. Please let me on the team."
"Of course you're on the team, why wouldn't you be?"
"Thank you I won't be a burden."
"Me either Aniki!" The two bowed
"Maybe that should be your new name." Shay suggested smirking
"Nooooo!" Jayden cried holding his head
"Why not? Nothing's wrong with it. You complain too much."
"Yeah Aniki." "Aniki." "Aniki.""Aniki.""Aniki.""Aniki.""Aniki." The whole group started to repeat over and over.
"Please stop!" Jayden shouted running away
