Chapter 2

Weekend is my favorite time of the week. It's not only because that there's no work but I get to hold my camera and go to nearby places alone and take pictures of nature. I also get to sit on the grass, look at flowers and just see nature. If I am not feeling good to go outside, I stay inside and get hold my pencil and paper to write poems, my experiences in my diary or read books or short stories. This is me: a newbie writer, a reader and a nature lover.

Today, I am going out to behold the beauty of nature. I drank my coffee and ate a simple egg sandwich. I took crackers and water with me in case I get hungry in the middle of my nature walk. I put on a simple white shirt, my most comfortable jogging pants and my only pair of rubber shoes. I took my backpack containing the few things I might need, got hold of my camera and I stepped outside my house.

"Hmmmmhhhhh" I breathed deeply while closing my eyes feeling the warmth of the ardent sun and the hug of the cool wind. Sun and wind are opposites. Sun can be seen and is warm while wind cannot be seen and is cool, but when they are combined, it makes you feel that something good is going to happen. I hope so.

After two short rides of jeepney, I am now walking while whistling to a part of the woods. I carefully looked at the trees, its wondrous height, robust trunk and numerous leaves. I took pictures of delicate flowers, gorgeous plants and tiny insects. After several hours of walking through the trees and plants of the mountain, I decided to rest. I took a gulp of my water and nibbled a cracker. I tried to find an area to sit and relax while whistling Regine Velasquez's song "Araw-Gabi".

The perfect spot registered to my eyes and a smiled played on my lips, I immediately walked towards the spot but I did not expect the next thing.

"Ouccchhhhhh!" I stepped on a sharp edged stone causing me to fall forward. My shout scared few birds that flew away, poor birds.

"Well, well, well if it isn't the woman who is waiting to get harmed" said the serene silvery voice I can recognize from that night. My head shot up to the source of the voice. He extended his hand as an obvious sign of offered help.

"Excuse me" I answered back irritably while glaring at his extended hand. I tried to stand up on my own to redeem my pride but it is a wrong move. Just as I extended my arm to push myself above, a very sharp pain registered to my senses again making me cry out in pain, again.

"Ouchhhhhh!" I yelled again. I am sure my face is very contorted reflecting the pain that's currently assaulting me.

"My goodness, why are you so high on your horse and so stiff-necked?" he said as he helped me up.

I looked at him and did not expect what my eyes had seen. He is gorgeous. His eyes are emerald green; he has a perfect slope of nose, rosy thin lips and his hair is bronze. He is strikingly beautiful. He is wearing a dark blue shirt, gray jogging pants and a rubber shoes with a white towel draped over his shoulders. I snapped myself from my mind revelry.

"Thank you. Sorry to bother you" I said to him while rolling my eyes.

"I did not say that you are a bother, but can you at least stay away from any possible harm from you?" he answered back shrugging his shoulder as if it is the most obvious thing in the world.

"Look mister…"

"It's Edward. I believe I already told you my name that night." He interrupted.

"Look, Edward…"

"You know my name, what's yours?" he interrupted again like my students when they do not want to be scolded.

"I am Bella. Will you please listen to me first?!" I used my don't-mess-with-me look I often use with my students who do not listen.

He lifted his hands in surrender but simpering at me.

"Look Edward, I don't usually get harmed okay. I am a woman who can take care of herself. I am independent for a long time. I supported myself. That night I was not harmed. Today I just had a little accident. Accidents happen to everybody okay?" I expounded my points to him.

"Okay, Sorry" I heard him mumble.

I started to walk away but the pain from my wounded elbow is still persistent.

"This is very painful and I thought this would be a great day." I irritably said.

"Wait! At least let me help you. An exchange for how I acted towards you" he pleaded.

"How? Do you have a medical kit with you?" I asked raising my left eyebrow.

"No, but I have it in my home. Not far from here" he replied.

I thought about it for a few seconds. Weighing the possibilities of this man being a rapist or a murderer, I guess not. If he were a rapist or a murderer, he would've done it that night we saw each other at the church or immediately grabbed his chance when he saw me slipped on the rock. I opted to accept his help. I will just observe the path we are going to take in case I need to run for help.

"Fine, where to go now?" I told him. He started to lead me to his home.

After walking for fifteen minutes, very much slowed down because of my painful foot, we arrived in front of a high-gated place. He inserted a key to the key hole of the gate to open. It was a very stunning place. It is not a modern place but more of a gorgeous old-fashioned house like a mansion from 1960's.

The chandelier is exemplary. The vases are obviously expensive. The floor is marbled and the furniture is classically outstanding.

"Wow, this is your home? Or do you just work here?" I asked upon taking in the place.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you Ms. Independent but I own this place," he answered to me while snickering.

"Sit down there first; I'll just get the kit" pointing on the sofa. I just nodded.

"Aro, where are you?" he said as he calls for somebody.

"I'm here Sir Edward. What is it?" a man around early fifties appeared from the hall. He looked flabbergasted when he saw me sitting on the sofa.

"It is not what you think Aro. I just offered her help she got into an accident. May I have the first aid kit so we can treat her wound?" Edward immediately clarified.

"Ye..yess Sir. I'll just get it" Aro stuttered.

"Why? What's wrong? Not the usual girl you bring into this house?" I joked.

"You don't understand what you are saying," he answered back displeasingly.

Aro came back and Edward started treating the wounds on my arms. Aro still looked startled about my presence but tried to act normally.

"Aro, where are you? Is sir Edward here already?" I heard a voice of a woman. The woman entered the living room and suddenly stopped with a shock on her face when she saw me.

"Jane, I'm just helping her she is hurt." Edward said immediately seeing the woman's reaction.

Weird, Is my presence really that shocking? I thought.
