Reiko leaned over Aang.
"What is it?" He was awake.
"I-I need to see your memories." Reiko whispered.
"Why?" Aang asked. "You look scared."
"I-I don't want to be afraid of you." Reiko whispered again. "But Avatar Kiyoshi kidnapped me. I need to see...I need to know you aren't going to hurt me."
Aang was silent for a moment.
"Then look in my memory." Aang whispered. "I will not hurt you. I promise."
Reiko put her hand on his arrow.
She could see Aang's memory, just his memory. She saw him in Avatar State, fighting the Fire Nation. She remembered Kiyoshi protecting her people, thinking Reiko would save her people.
The Avatar wasn't a monster. He was a Savior.
