A/N: First of all, yes I know it's been a while. I'm just not motivated to write, let alone think of a plot for the next chapter. Second of all, yes this chapter is pretty short.
Tsukiatari
Hikaru, feeling slightly guilty for missing Waya's match, decided that he would make it up to the Go pro somehow. After finding out from Akari that Waya was to be at a Go convention over the weekend, he quickly filed for a few days off to attend the convention if only to somehow make it up to the pro. Hearing his plans, Akari was ecstatic and quickly packed an overnight bag for Hikaru as well. A few hasty phone calls to both Taguchi and Ohka, made sure that the two boys were aware that Hikaru would be away from home for the next three days.
The next morning, Hikaru was rudely awakened by Akari flinging cold water over his face. He quickly sat up from the shock when he felt the coldness touch his skin. Wiping away the water with the T-shirt he slept in, he glared at Akari. This was not how he imagined waking up that day.
"What?" He grumbled irritably at Akari.
"It's already 8 a.m. mister Shindo," Akari said in a reprimanding tone, her hands on her hips in a hostile stance. "Yesterday night you promised to be ready by 8 a.m. this morning. And I come to find you still lazing about in bed."
"Ugh," Hikaru groaned as he pulled himself off the bed, and heading to the bathroom, "I'll be ready in a few, Akari. No need to rush."
"At the speed you're going, we're going to be late to the opening ceremonies," Akari called at Hikaru's back.
Hikaru only waved in response.
True to Akari's words, the couple was indeed late to the opening ceremonies. Hastily, Akari took out a pen, pad of paper and a voice recorder, ready to take down notes for her article. While Akari headed off to join with the crowd at the stage where the opening ceremony was being held, Hikaru wandered off to look at the booths available. There were many different vendors at the convention that he had never knew existed about the Go world, that he became rather immersed in looking at each and every interesting booth in detail. He would ask many questions to the people running the booths about each of their themes or products, and adding all the new information into his mind.
After looking about for a while, Hikaru decided to take a break and headed off to a food vendor to buy a snack before continuing on. While standing in line and waiting for his grilled squid, he overhead a few of the other convention goers mention a free play area for Go players to use to have matches or simply practice. Deciding to visit the free play area next, Hikaru nodded to himself, and waited for his grilled squid.
The free play area was in the center of the convention space, so it was relatively easy for Hikaru to find. As he walked around the free play area, happily munching on his grilled squid, he noticed that there was a crowd around one of the sections in the area. Curious, he walked towards the direction of the crowd, wondering what was going on for there to have caught the interest of that many people.
Finally reaching the crowd, Hikaru slowly pushed his way to the front, hoping to see what was so interesting. What he saw surprised him.
"Waya!" He shouted in surprise as he saw his friend sitting on one of the seats across the table from a teenage boy.
Waya looked up as he heard his name called out by a familiar voice, and was shocked to see Hikaru looking back at him wearing a similar expression on his face. That expression on Hikaru's face, however, changed in an instant to a smug looking grin.
"Hey, long time no see buddy," Hikaru greeted the shocked pro, giving him a lazy salute.
Shaking himself out of his shock, Waya grinned back, "Took you long enough to get here."
Next Chapter: Hikaru and Waya hang out for a bit and Waya gains a crush on Akari.
