A/N: So yea, been a few months. I just quickly wrote this chapter. Kinda feel bad for leaving this hanging. Quality of this chapter's not so good, too many repetitive words.
Game
Stepping past the automatic doors to the Go Institute, Hikaru shook off the feeling of displacement he felt as he entered the building. It wasn't that he was concerned with the image he presented, wearing casual and comfortable clothes among all the well-dressed suit and tie or traditional garbed people, but it was that he thought of Go as merely a past time, a hobby. Sighing inwardly, he continued his trekking, stopping by the receptionist to ask for directions to the viewing room. Receiving the directions and a simple map of the premises, he went on his way.
Stopping before the door, Hikaru checked the name plate by the door to double check he was in the right place before pulling on the handle and opening the door. He took one step inside while taking a quick sweeping glance around the room, hoping to see at least one friendly face. He grinned as his eyes landed on Isumi, letting out a breath he wasn't aware he had been holding. Quickly striding towards the Go pro with as much confidence as he could manage to put up, he called out in greeting.
"Isumi-san!" The Go pro in question looked up to see Hikaru, and gave him a reassuring smile.
"Shindo-san! It is good to see you!" Isumi replied in greeting. He stood up and gestured for Hikaru to take a seat beside him. "How have you been?"
"Fine thanks," Hikaru answered, his grin still in place, as he sat down opposite of Isumi. "I thought it would be good to come and see one of Waya's games someday, so here I am."
"Waya will definitely be glad to know that," Isumi laughed. "He's been griping about how you never seem to have time to come see one of his 'awesome' games, as he describes it."
"Haha, I'm sure he does," Hikaru laughed along with Isumi. It was great to have someone to talk to in the stifling atmosphere of the observation room.
As he picked at the Go stones in the bowl, he noticed that the room was still relatively empty. Looking around, there were only about two others in the room. Turning back to Isumi, he asked, "Is it usually this empty here?"
Isumi looked up, quite surprised at the question; he too glanced around the room, and then answered, "No, more people should be coming just right before the game starts. You're just early."
"Oh," Hikaru nodded to the answer, he slouched down on the chair he sat on, hands digging into his pockets for his cell phone. Taking a look at the time, he commented, "So I'm early huh? I should take my time coming here next time."
Isumi smirked at Hikaru's comment. "Only if you want to fight for a clear view of the match."
More minutes trickled by, and just a few minutes before the game was to start, the door to the observation room opened, and in came a few other people, some insei, other pro Go players, and maybe one or two reporters to write an article for their respective magazines. Hikaru, however, did not take much notice to the people coming in the room, until there was a lapse in all the talk.
Looking up to see what caused the lapse, he saw the one person Sai had ever considered his true rival stand by the door: Touya Koyo, the Meijin.
Hikaru's eyes glinted dangerously at the sight of the man. This was the man he had gone to beg to play a game against Sai. This was the man who agreed to play on one condition, knowledge of Sai's identity if he won the game against Sai. This was the man who played Sai and lost, accepting defeat graciously and never pursuing for Sai's identity again. And this was a man Hikaru held in great respect.
Waiting until the others had stopped greeting the Meijin, Hikaru silently stood up and approached the man in silence. As he stopped and stood before the Meijin, Hikaru gave the man a respectful bow. The Meijin merely stood and watched as the young man greeted him.
"It is a pleasure to meet you again Touya Meijin."
Touya Koyo nodded to Hikaru, surprising him with the response, "And you as well, Fujiwara-san."
Hikaru looked up sharply at the response, staring at the Meijin for a moment before smiling.
"So you remember."
Sorry that it's also shorter.
