Author's Note: This is going to be something way different from my other stories. Give it a follow if you're in for a wild ride! I started intending to write one concept, but the more I wrote, the more this morphed into something different that I'm super excited for. ChristyWIX, this is for you. You'll know what that means 😉
This starts in New Moon, right after Edward finished his speech in the woods about why he was leaving Bella and turned to run away. This is partially an Edward/Bella story, but it also heavily features a non-cannon couple that I won't go into detail about yet because spoilers. Later chapters will be much longer. This is just the intro. Here we go!
"Wait, please! If you have to go, then I-I understand. But-please let me show you something first!" Bella begged, fearing that wasn't enough to hold his attention, but she only needed it for a few seconds, and then she could show him exactly what she meant. She knew there was one thing he had wanted more than almost anything, and she finally felt like she could give it to him, but she had to hurry!
She had maybe thirty seconds if she was extremely lucky to catch his interest before he ran through the forest and out of her life, perhaps for good. "I can let you read my mind!" she shouted, praying that it would work as she focused on lifting her mental shield.
She dared look in Edward's direction, and though he was already several feet away, he was standing still, curious, his expression frozen into an emotionless mask. She felt an energy that she had only recently learned she even possessed and tossed it away from her as quickly as possible, flooding her mind and hopefully his with the most intense emotions she could muster. Love, fear, anxiety, passion, desire, need.
Bella showed him exactly how much she loved him, even now that just seconds ago, he had absolutely shattered her heart and all of her happiness to pieces. She also showed him exactly how she would feel without him, as if he were ripping away her entire soul and everything good in the world.
The intensity of her emotions overwhelmed her, and she fell to sit on a large log, not daring take her eyes off of him as she frantically thought of as many memories of him as possible, so that he could feel exactly as she did. So that he would understand.
The spark of an unexpected touch. The soft brush of his hard lips and how her heart raced with joy each and every time. The dazzling sensation of his breath. The loving sparkle in his eyes. A thousand memories of admiring his face and his adorable, crooked smile.
Bella's eyes filled with tears and she was shaking uncontrollably, her sobs filling the air as she barely held herself together, focusing all of her attention on making sure he knew absolutely everything before he had a chance to run away.
She had no doubt why he wanted to leave her. She had nothing to offer someone as amazing as him. She wasn't really a part of his world, no matter how much she wanted to be. She was weak and fragile. She couldn't hold a candle to Edward.
She let him know that she understood if he had to leave, and to please not feel guilty about it, but also showed him just how much she didn't want him to go. How much he meant to her. How she loved every single thing about him, down to the messiness of his hair and the way he said her name. The way he smiled gently, always amused when she asked a dumb question like if he could turn into a bat. The way he fidgeted nervously or spoke in funny phrases from another century.
As she thought her feelings, her memories were still present too, pushing their way through to him. How he sounded like an angel when he saved her from James trying to kill her. How happy she was to see him approaching and saving her from the men in Port Angeles. How she really thought for a second that he might bite her at prom, keeping her with him forever. She wanted nothing more. Nothing at all, except for him.
The weight of her feelings was too much to bear and though she hated to tear her eyes off of him, Bella curled up in a ball, feeling a massive hole in her chest where his love had been before.
She cried until she couldn't breathe and started to choke. Nothing mattered now. She had finally overcome the barrier of her mind and showed him everything, and it wasn't enough to hold him. He was gone. And so was her heart.
It started to rain gently, but Bella didn't care. She could die in these woods.
Bella wasn't suicidal, but she had no motivation to get up or do anything without Edward. She couldn't stop the painful trembling and shaking, but that was the least of her concerns.
He never spoke. And she never heard him move. It hadn't been enough. She hadn't been enough. He was gone.
She nearly screamed when he fell to his knees in front of her when she believed him long gone. His eyes were haunted. His expression pained. He lifted her chin gently in his hand and she held her breath, the coolness of his touch terrifying her and yet soothing her all at once.
He looked deep into her eyes and she could see that he was terrified too, but he had no reason to be. He was the one in control of the situation. It had been his choice to leave her. Edward didn't love her.
She wanted to curse and scream and ask him why he was dragging this out, but she also wanted to beg him not to leave.
God, he infuriated her sometimes!
He was so confusing and never just said what he meant. He was always speaking in contradictions. One sentence it was "I'm not good for you" and the next it was "I never said I didn't want to be friends." One day it was "You are my life now." and then it was "I don't want you to come."
She wished with all of her heart that she didn't have this supernatural, unexplainable, nearly painful attachment to him, but she did, and she adored him. She loved him. She wanted to punch him. She needed to hold him. She hated him. She worshipped him.
He still looked into her eyes and she was too lost in her own thoughts to realize that he was continuing to hear every thought, feeling every emotion as she did. He was frozen, overwhelmed with the intensity of it, unlike anything he had ever felt before. She had no idea how much power she held over him.
"That's it! You're coming with me!" he growled in a low, commanding voice just before he crashed his lips into hers, kissing her breathless and causing her heart to thunder harder in her chest. Her hands immediately shot up to grab his hair, holding him as close to her as possible.
They kissed with a passion he had never allowed before. She happily gave her full self over to him, feeling alive for the first time since he started being distant with her a few nights ago. Every brush of his lips against hers gave her pleasant chills and an arousal the intensity of which she had never felt. He still heard every single thought and felt each emotion.
She had no idea what was going on, but she had absolutely no intention of fighting it. This was everything she needed.
He pulled away, panting, and loudly, possessively growling. His eyes were black as night.
Edward grabbed her roughly and stood up, tossing her on his back. Bella barely even registered the pain of her body landing against his granite skin before he started running through the woods. She held him for dear life.
She closed her eyes and breathed his scent deeply, resting her face against the side of his neck. She was still trembling. Tears falling from her eyes. She was terrified. But also completely enthralled, pulled to him by an invisible force stronger than any human could comprehend.
Edward didn't stop running for an hour or two, and Bella was shivering not just from fear, but from the coldness of his skin. He abruptly turned around and sat her on her feet, facing him.
He looked deeply into her eyes again, his still completely black. He was incredibly, painfully handsome. She was overcome just with the beauty of him.
"Never again!" he growled, kissing her roughly as one of his hands slid down to her waist, holding her tightly against him. She felt relief with each touch of his lips on hers, yet she needed more. She could never get close enough to him.
He brushed his tongue along her lips, and she opened her mouth, giving their kiss a new depth of sensation. She was quietly whimpering from the pleasure of him and the feeling of being given what she needed most. Him. Her mate.
Her tongue got too close to Edward's sharp teeth, but he didn't stop her. Instead, he kissed her more forcefully, holding her still tightly to him as he intentionally brushed his teeth against her tongue, introducing his venom into her body.
Edward kissed her more gently as her mouth started to burn. He pressed his lips to hers a few times before he pulled away to bite her neck, sinking his teeth quickly into the soft flesh and growling quietly, but now with contentment, as he drank the sweet, overpowering blood of his singer.
His body was consumed by a warmth and a love unlike anything he had ever felt before. Every sense and thought of his was overwhelmed by her and by the indescribable pleasure of her warm nectar sliding down his throat.
Edward drank himself into a crazed frenzy, growling loudly when her blood nearly ran out and he knew his pleasure was soon ending.
She ran her fingers through his hair, and he snapped out of it instantly, sealing his bite with his tongue and then a gentle kiss. He rested his face against her neck, savoring the taste of her in his mouth, on his lips. He was moaning from the pleasure. The smell of her sweet blood was now starting to mix with his own venom. He still supported her in his arms.
She started to scream uncontrollably. The change was beginning. Edward wouldn't change his mind ever again.
Charlie came home from work early to surprise his daughter with a pizza for dinner and a rented movie. Her truck was in the driveway with her backpack still sitting in the seat. Kid must not have any homework, he thought. Good, maybe she will be excited to spend time with ol' Pops.
Except, Charlie Swan's daughter was not in the house. In fact, she wasn't anywhere near Forks. Neither were the Cullens...
