A/N: Merry Christmas? Sorry it's short? I don't even have ideas fleshed out.
Hikaru no Go: Nostalgia Ch. 24
Gap
Setting off with Ohka chatting animatedly – well, as animatedly as Ohka can get – beside her, Akari just smiles at the happy boy. This brought back memories of when she and Hikaru were children themselves, especially after she'd found out Hikaru was one day very interested in Go. Lost in her thoughts, Akari didn't notice Ohka was asking her something.
"-ndou-san, Shindou-san!" Ohka's voice cut through her reminiscing. She shook out of her thoughts and gave the boy a smile.
"Yes, Ohka-kun?"
Finally getting the woman's attention, Ohka pointed and asked, "I wanted to take a look at that booth over there."
Akari looked up at where Ohka's finger was pointing at to see a booth set up just a ways ahead of them. The sign board beside the booth read 'Play Against Go A.I.s'.
"Okay, let's go see what they have there," Akari agreed.
When they reached the booth, the two quickly found out that from the pamphlets placed on a table by the entrance that certain companies had decided to foray into creating A.I.s that would be able to beat humans at the game of Go. Incidentally, there were showings of videos of the games played between pro players and the A.I.s, at the same time as having a section for people to try playing against different versions of the Go-playing systems.
While Akari was immersed in watching the videos and talking to the volunteers manning the booth, Ohka had signed himself into a time slot to play against the A.I.s. While this was something that he had seen being used as a tutorial in many games, he had yet to play against a program before. He wanted to test his current strength against an A.I., to see what kind of gap there was between him and a program. Soon enough, it was his turn at the computer.
"Good luck and have fun, Ohka-kun!" Akari encouraged from behind him.
