Disclaimer: Does anyone know the House address of Kishimoto sensei? I might become obliged in stalking him until he gives me the rights to Naruto.
Readers, my lovely minions, don't get your panties up in a twist that fast. I have said the story will be moving slowly at first for world building purposes for the arcs to come later. I am a writer who rather like to focus on character interactions and world building and then meticulously well planned fight scenes for later rather than rushing Naruto's ass to become some shallow, bullshitty Mary-sue character like a lot of the standard FemNaruto fanfics on this website. Besides, you can't have a story with just the main character. We need a great supporting cast and interesting environments to push the story forward without managing to lose the reader's interests.
Ok Feedback time.
Shadow Walker of Fire: Thanks man, I'm glad you like my work.
Guest(or Bree?): Thank you, It'll take time for Naruto and Kakashi to meet again. Don't worry you will get it for sure. That's a promise!
Arkelcy: These are the types of feedbacks I love. No matter how small my fanfic is compared to most, getting one review like this just encourages me even more to write this further. Which I undoubtedly will. Thanks a lot!
Chapter 4: Shisui Uchiha
Eyes flutter open.
There was a certain grogginess to our main protagonist right now. But it felt so good cuddling under the bedsheets with it. She lazily emerged from her bed with a large yawn.
Naruto looked at her clock and found out it's past 9.00 am.
'Damn, I overslept didn't I? Maybe I did eat a bit too much ramen yesterday. Then again, I doubt that would have been enough to sleep through the awful sound of that alarm.'
She got out of her bed and took some basic stretches. Now that made her even more relaxed. Too relaxed if she said so herself.
Her eyes were sleepy and her hair was undone and all over the place. She was still wearing her sleep pajamas and she had a very sultry smile on her face.
Today was a free day. The team assignments will only happen after one month for some reason. She agreed to start help Obito with training next week. She needed to figure out how to spend the next one week. She doesn't really know anyone in her age besides Obito. But she wouldn't meet him until next week. So what to do, what to do...
She figured that she'll think about that later. It was already late and breakfast isn't gonna make itself. She took her brush and toothpaste and started brushing her teeth. While doing so she went upstairs and into the roof of the house. Yeah she won't stay in one place during brushing. What can be said? Everyone has their own bad habits.
Naruto enjoyed the view from here. It was old and dusty at first but she fixed and cleaned it up. It still had two floors and a nice balcony.
On the pathways of the Uchiha clan compund, she saw women strolling their children around for a walk, men sipping tea and chatting their daily lives and she could see, on the very next acre, the soon-would be ninja children training with friends.
It was a very warm sight. From the time she arrived here, she didn't really know any of her fellow clan members around here, aside from the gatekeeper.
'I mean, I'm not a special snowflake of the clan or anything, I'm just a new member.' They don't have any reason for her to be somehow important. The adults were a big no-no. The non-shinobi adults looked nice but the shinobi are either, asocial, arrogant or both.
The children of her age is... well she had no Idea. Some of them did look a bit smug. And she really didn't like the idea of hanging around with bratty kids. She is 17 years old mentally.
'Whatever, I have a job, that's what's important.'
She went to washing basin and rinsed her mouth clean with water. She removed all of her clothes and walked into the bathroom for a shower.
The sleepiness was slowly going away, replaced with refreshment. The chilling water droplets were dangling and dancing their way through her smooth skin, the silky hair of hers that she couldn't help but enjoy it. She was humming some music track as she was doing so, and her body was moving also according to beat.
She emerged from her bathroom draped in a towel around her, and her hair dripping wet. She went over and sat down to take another towel to dry her hair. While doing so, she was replaying the events that happened yesterday.
It started out as a pretty poopy-doodoo day, but ended as something unforgettable. The graduation exams, meeting Obito, and the...
Kiss...
Naruto giggled at that. At the time, she was pissed as hell. I mean some boy kissing her on the lips while the teachers and the class watching will piss off anyone at the time. But now, she found it pretty funny actually. When they get older, this would be a funny memory for she and Obito to laugh at.
Obito was a really nice boy. She couldn't believe this was the same guy who started the fourth great ninja war and nearly ended the world in her time. She wondered what did he go through to gain such a drastic change in character. She knew the death of Rin Nohara was a cause, but, that can't be the only reason... Right?
Memories struck her as she remembered that it was Madara who manipulated him into turning him into the dark-side. So probably some bullshit, double-wammy about reality being cruel... or.. something.
But regarding the fact that, Obito had a really shitty life to begin with, and he, right now can be easily tricked if he was in a mentally vulnerable state.
She needs to be there for him to make him get out of that thought he was alone. She wasn't doing this out of pity or just because she needed to get her job done more quickly, no.
Because she understood the pain he was going through right now. They have a lot of similarities and they talked about this. They are both Uchihas, both are orphans, both don't have any friends besides themselves. Obito put it, Quote "Chained-together birds".
She giggled and then muttered, "I didn't even know he was capable of poetry."
After she got her hair done, and she decided to let it loose today because she was at home, she went to her wardrobe to put on some clothes.
She put on black leggings, and a white neutral sweater.
She went on prepare breakfast but when her pan was put on the stove, she heard a loud thumping noise from above. 'What was that?'
Is that a stray cat or something?
She immediately recognized that it was not an cat, but an actual person, determining by the sound of the thump, up in the attic.
What kind of theif would dare barge into the house of the great, Naruto Uchiha?
But the chakra signature is small for a fully fledged ninja, it's almost like a child... wait a second.
She fired up her Sharingan to see that yes, it was a little kid.
She did inherit the emotion sensing ability from Kurama since she still had the chakra of all tailed beasts inside of her. And what she found was... odd.
The kid didn't mean any ill intent. What she felt from him was
Innocence, Happiness.
And through her Sharingan, she could see that he was just sitting there.
Deciding to know what the whole ordeal was, she suppressed her chakra and started sneaking upstairs quietly. Yes, his chakra is low, but for a kid this young it sure was big. So it was safe to assume he has knowledge in shinobi arts.
She reached the spot and looked up to see the door of the attic in the ceiling. She prepared herself. Quick and easy.
One...
Two...
Three.
With one jump, she barged opened the door and landed four feet away from the kid that was caught red handed.
The attic is the one place she hadn't cleaned yet, so it was still dusty and a bit dark.
She looked at the kid and raised an eyebrow at what she was seeing.
The kid was looking at her like a deer in the headlight. He was sitting on the floor and to say he was shocked would be a massive understatement.
She looked to see beside him, there was a spilled box of... Ice cream?
He probably accidentally spilled when she made her surprise entrance. But then she looked at the kid's face.
His mouth was full like a squirrel who filled up it's cheeks with nut, and around his mouth were dripping with, well, Ice cream. How is he not getting a brain freeze at this point?!
Just imagine the awkward situation when a kid is caught stealing a cookie in the jar. Well, instead of cookie, It was a box of Ice cream.
"Swallow it, kid." Naruto said Naruto dryly.
The kid did as said and Naruto could actually tell his face now. It was the little kid who was watching her when she returned from the shop a couple of days back.
"What are you doing in my house kid? You know you shouldn't sneak into a stranger's house without permission. Are you here to steal? Is that Ice cream nicked or somethin? Is that why you're hiding?" Naruto went full interrogation mode.
The kid started panicking. "Nononono! I'm not a thief, please don't tell anyone please,"
Ignoring the 'then why are you hiding' from the older girl, he continued, "I was walking home, but I got called by the Ice cream inside so I decided to pay a visit."
Naruto was unimpressed. Even Kakashi can make better excuses than that. "Kid, If there's one thing I hate, it's liars. So speak the truth or else... I'll go complaint to your parents and tell them what you were doing inside here."
The kid's pupils dilated. Then his eyes were starting to water up. "I'm sorry... My dad said I couldn't eat Ice cream anymore this month and I couldn't help it... I... I took the box from the fridge and ran here... No one stayed in this place before... so I usually come here for stuff my dad wouldn't allow me normally... I'm.. I'm a... nghh..." The kid said through sobs and at the end finally started crying.
Naruto ran and sat next to him and engulfed him in a warm hug. "There, there... That wasn't so hard was it? You could have told me that instead from the beginning, now, now, it's ok." The kid hearing this, buried his face under her neck and continued crying. She gently stroked his hair. It was just like she imagined, instead of being the standard spiky Uchiha hair, it had a slight curliness to it. It was very soft too.
The kid lacked any arrogance. He is pretty safe to be around with.
"Now, let's go down to the hall, you've made a mess out of here." She looked at the spilled Ice cream box. "Oh, and don't forget to wash your face."
The said kid blushed and then watched in awe as she created a solid clone that can function on itself to clean up the mess. They both climbed down the attic and went to the hall.
The kid was not sure what he must feel as of right now.
He loved Ice cream. He loved the taste that it brings to his mouth. That was not the only reason why he loved it so much. The memories...
The memories of his mother feeding him with his favourite butterscotch flavour Ice cream after dinner or whenever he really impressed her.
Dad isn't tolerant about his unhealthy obsession with the delicacy. He didn't do as he said however and his dad banned him from Ice cream for a month.
But he can't have any of that. He never told him the other reason why he likes Ice cream so much. He is feeling kinda shy thinking about the conversation that would go on if he did.
So he did what he had to do. Nicked the hidden box of Vanilla ice cream and eat it at his usual hiding spot.
Only to find out the hiding spot wasn't his anymore. He just barged in there like two months ago and now it's bought by a person.
The said person was munching pancakes and maple syrup in the opposite chair of the dining table he's sitting in. She'd asked he'd want any, but he said he's already had breakfast.
When she caught him inside the attic he was freaked out. A million thoughts were going on in his head at the time. Will he be punished, Will Dad be disappointed, yadada you get the Idea.
Thank god she wasn't the usual Uchiha stoic type or else this situation could have gone a whole different way.
He looked to see that she finished her breakfast and was now looking at him.
"So, you bust in here on a regular basis Huh?"
He nodded slowly. "Yeeaaah... Everytime for stuff like these. But only two or three times a month."
Naruto hmmed and continued. "Whatever it is the case, don't you know busting inside someone else's property without permission, even if it was not owned before, is a punishable offense?"
He stiffened. Again? Didn't she drop the subject a few moments ago?
"I'm sorry ma'am, I promise I'll never repeat again i swear i swear pleasedon'ttellmydadpleasepleaseplease!"
His hands were on top of his head, His eyes were shut tight, He was shivering... Until he heard a laugh. He looked up to see she was laughing her ass off.
"I swear kid, you are too easy to tease! Oh god, if you gakis are this fun, I want ten of you AHAHAHA!"
The kid frowned. Maybe she isn't as good as he thought he was.
Naruto after clearing tears of laughter off her eyes, noticed his pout. "Oh, come on, can't a girl have some fun now and again~" She poked his nose.
He was fuming with a red hot face. "It's not okay to mess with someone's feelings for fun."
"Okay, okay, sorry for being a bitch. I can't help it, pranking is in my blood! Well, just remember that from now on knock at someone's door before barging in Okay?"
He chilled down and nodded "Okay, I'll never repeat it again."
Naruto observed him for a bit. "Say kid, you said you came here so your dad wouldn't catch you eating ice cream right?"
He slowly nodded and she continued. "Well, due to my interference, you spilled all of your ice cream right? So allow me to apologize." She stood up and went into the kitchen.
He was sitting there looking at the kitchen door wondering what she was upto. His thoughts were cleared and eyes were widened when she came back and placed a box of butterscotch ice cream on the table.
"Not my favourite, mine's orange flavor. But you can manage this right?"
His eyes sparkled with stars. "That's my favourite flavour! Thank you!"
Naruto smiled. "Don't mention it kid. Now, eat up."
Naruto took a large scoop of Ice cream and put it on a large bowl. The kid started eating his delicacy with pure glee. Naruto was leaning her chin on her hand and looking at the kid with a amused smile.
"Say kid, I have some questions. If you can answer me."
The kid nodded her to continue
"I told you I am new here, but when I was back from the store a few days back you were staring at me weirdly. What's up with that?" She asked.
The kid swallowed his Ice cream. "Well, just like you said, I haven't seen you in the compound before and...and..."
Naruto prodded. "And...?"
"You were really pretty!" He said it and immediately covered his face with both hands.
Naruto muffled her laughter as much as she could. "Well, Thank you kid! Since you have such a high impression on me, can I ask a favour?"
The kid nodded. "Sure, anything I can."
"You know I'm pretty new to this compound, I don't know jackshit about the whereabouts and the monuments present here. And it would be a bummer if I, as an Uchiha, didn't know about any of it. And even though you are pretty young, by your vocabulary and ninja skills in this age, I can assume you are pretty well informed. So... can you help me out? Atleast do it for the Ice cream? Pleeeaase...?"
The kid thought for a moment. She seems pretty nice after all. Plus if this means he can finally get someone to talk to in jolly, agreed.
"Sure, we can hang out around the village too! I can show you a lot of cool places I visit."
Naruto nodded. "Well thank you, oh, you haven't told me your name yet."
The kid smiled a goofy grin and said. "The name's Shisui Uchiha! And yours?"
She smiled. "The name's Naruto Uchiha."
"Well, I'll call you Naru-neesan." Shisui proclaimed.
Well doesn't that bring memories of a certain goggle loving, blue scarf wearing cutie from her previous timeline. This life was slowly getting better and better.
"Of course you can, Shisui-kun, now today is a free day so lead the way!" She shouted and both of them went out of the house for a walk.
Smooth it glides upon its travel,Here a wimple, there a gleam
–O the clean gravel!
O the smooth stream!
(…)
Patience, children, just a minute –See the spreading circles die;
The stream and all in it Will clear by-and-by.
A poem that she was taught in the academy came to her mind as she sitting under the cool shade of the tree watching the beautiful Naka river flow smoothly with the water as crystal as sapphire. It was such a beautiful sight.
It had been two hours since she and Shisui started their little excursion. Suffice to say, everything she knew about Uchiha from her previous life, is wrong. Well, atleast the place is.
She thought it was some wickedy old vampire mansion where everything and everyone is dark and edgy and all that shit. Sounded like some haunted bungalow.
But now she really wanted to smack herself in the face because this is one of the most beautiful parts in all of Konoha.
It's really the political tension and manipulation of Danzo that led to the eventual downfall of this otherwise prestigious and loyal clan. Even the clan members weren't even that bad. She'd met a lot of them with Shisui. They were asocial and kind of stoic yes, but they weren't assholes either. She could sense the Kindness emotion radiating from them. So Sasuke was right. Uchihas have a lot of love for their own kin. They just don't know how to express it. Poor bastards.
She wondered where Shisui was. He said he'll be right back and told her to stay here until he does.
"Naru-neesan!"
'Oh you little rascal'. Speak of the devil, Shisui arrived with a big sack filled with something.
Naruto raised an eyebrow. "What are these?"
Shisui dropped the sack and the inside contents were revealed. It was a lot of bright pink peaches. "It's one of the best types there is! Here in the Uchiha district, we have special trees for it that we grow these. It's really good! I thought you wouldn't want to miss it."
She looked at the fruits. Yeah it's a lot of shades of pink brighter but, it's just peach right? She'd eaten a lot of peach before, so what different is it gonna be from the one's that are from the outside forests? She took a bite to see why. The next moment her eyes widened.
"Wow, these are not from around here are they?"
Shisui nodded. "Yep, the trees here were exported from the land of flowers a long time ago. These are kind of staples for every merry occasion in the Uchiha clan."
Naruto quirked an eyebrow. "I thought it was tomatoes?"
"Ewghh... Tomatoes suck ass"
Yikes. Sasuke wouldn't like to hear that. They continued to eat until Naruto brought up a question. "Hey, Shisui, what is that building over there?"
"Which?"
"That." She pointed a finger to the said building.
Shisui looked and said. "Oh, that is the Naka shrine. It is the place where the Uchiha clan was born. It existed even before the village was even formed."
Naruto's interest piqued. "Cool, what's inside of there? Can we go inside?"
Shisui shook his head. "No, access is only permitted to higher level shinobis. My dad said that I shouldn't go there. But I have heard from one the Uchiha police members I showed you that inside that shrine, there exists writings and clan secrets only people with a unique type of Sharingan can get access to. I didn't know what that meant."
Naruto knew exactly what that meant. 'So that's where the secrets written by Indra otsutsuki lies'. The knowledge there are incredibly powerful yet sickeningly deadly.
"Ah, forget it, save that for later. So, not gonna Shisui, I really like the compound. I didn't have the same opinion a few days ago."
"Well thank you neesan, glad you liked it."
Naruto really didn't like judging people, but one thing really bugged her. "Hey Shisui, I really liked the people you introduced me to, like that guy in the pastry shop, those nice ladies in the apple orchard, those cool police force members, but... why didn't you introduce me to kids in your age group?"
The said Shisui stiffened. She sensed Nervousness radiating off of him. "You are getting nervous Shisui."
"W-what? H-how did y-"
"I can sense emotions. My chakra sensing abilities are quite gifted so I can feel what emotion you are experiencing. You are getting really nervous." Naruto briefed.
Shisui shuffled, he was trying to act cool but it clearly didn't show. He stopped when he felt caressing through his soft curly locks of hair. He looked at Naruto.
"It's okay Shisui. No need to be tough guy in front of me. Just loosen up and tell me."
He waited a moment and then sighed. "I don't have any friends in the compound."
Naruto took in that. "Is it only a problem in the compound?"
"Yeah, basically. I have a couple of friends I know in the village. They are my dad's teammate's kids or other people I met. But I see them rarely, so when I'm in the compound, which is where I spent a big chunk of my daily time in, no kid pays attention to me."
"Why's that?"
Shisui looked into distance where the sight of the flowing river ends. "Ever since I've been able to walk and talk, the all I wanted to be is become an outstanding ninja and a beloved member of my clan. But most of the kids in my peers always seem annoyed of me. They are always quiet, asocial and arrogant so when I go up to them and try to make friends with them, they reject me. I talked about this problem to my dad and he said that I'm not acting mature. He said I should start being like that or else I wont be easily recognized as from the Uchiha clan."
'What a bunch of bullshit. What kind of parent would want their child to be like that?'
Naruto herself knew what awaited her if she didn't start behaving like that.
But Naruto doesn't give a fuck.
Who cares if you don't have the approval of some self centered gakis.
"No need to be like that Shisui, you're likable as it is. Your face doesn't suit that type of attitude. Even if you try your hardest to be like that, everyone could see through you because that's not who you are on the inside. If you ever feel alone, feel free to drop by my house."
Shisui looked at her with a smile. "Thank you. Maan, It sure felt sad walking around the compound all alone watching other kids playing with their friends. Can we hang out when you have free time. I heard from neighbours that you're already a Genin."
"Sure, I am a ninja now, but my team assignments will only happen next month. And I have a friend I have to help train to make his skills a bit better. But that's only for a week and after that I'm fully free this month. So I don't mind hangin out."
"Thanks neesan. It was been boring lately. Dad somedays doesn't even come home, saying he has missions to attend."
"What about your mother?" asked Naruto.
"She died. She was a part of the Anbu black ops squad and she was killed by facing an entire platoon of Iwa-nin. It was two years ago."
A grimace formed in her face. The lives of kids were awful during these times. A few years later, Shisui himself will have to enter the battle field. A child soldier.
"What about your parents neesan? I already know you moved from Kiri. Where are your parents then?"
A sad look passed on her face and Shisui instantly doubted if he said anything wrong. "Both of them are dead Shisui. My mom died from giving birth to me. Me and my father were living in secret in Kiri because the Mizukage Yagura, is a mad tyrant who orders his men to hunt down any people with Kekkei genkai because he says those people are 'demons'. As you know, I'm an Uchiha so I have the Sharingan in my possession." She flared her Sharingan for Shisui to see.
Shisui was gaping with awe. He had only seen the Sharingan in adults in the clan. And here's his neesan with a pair of Sharingan with two tomoes. 'I know she's older than me, but still, this young?'
"One day, both of us blew our cover and those bastards began to chase after us. My dad stalled them until I could get away. I did escape eventually. But my father was killed. It was the worst day of my life. I was then found by a friendly Konoha ninja, and I was escorted back to my real home, here."
Naruto really didn't like to be sentimental. But god did she need some right now. Tears were starting to jerk out, maybe she shouldn't have told about her past and-
Something wrapped around her. She looked down to see Shisui hugging her with both his hands and legs like a Koala clung to a tree.
"Before my mom died she told me hugs are good for soothing people from sadness. I used to give her hugs all the time she got sad."
Naruto had gone from sad, to getting a warm feeling in her heart.
"It's okay neesan. Life is like a giant novel. And every person in your life is like each chapter. After time, just like the length of the chapter, your time with that person ends. It's sad but, you shouldn't see it that way. Instead, you should make new loved ones and make new memories with them. Isn't that the fun of life? Like a book, what's happening now is a smaller part of a larger story. And the end will be definitely worth it."
"Your a good girl neesan. I had that feeling about since the first time I saw you. Now, now, no need to cry."
Naruto couldn't hold it in any longer. She hugged Shisui back tightly and started planting kisses all over his face.
"Ahaha S-stop it neesan it tickles haha!"
Naruto calmed down and wiped the tears off her face. "Well you clearly stole my heart you cheeky little dork. Your mom was clearly lucky to give birth to son like you. And now, I ain't ever letting off my sight." She pinched his left cheek.
Shisui let out a goofy smile. "Well, since you said that, can I ask a favour?"
"Sure, go ahead."
"I really, really want to be great ninja by no one would train with me. My father said I should be strong but he doesn't spend time to train me at all. I don't have any one else to ask so, please will you train me neesan?"
Naruto brightened. "Sure, chump! Let's go to the training fields right now!"
"Really?!" Shisui asked.
"Really! I want to see what you are truly made of. So let's go right away." She grabbed his hand and walked away to training fields.
While walking Shisui looked at the hand he was holding and then to her face. Is this the feeling of having a sister? It felt so nice.
Both of them walked to the distance.
Having kids is like a dream coming true.
The months of waiting, the problems moving to certain places, always in need of supervision can certainly be annoying. But atleast they will be negligible at the payoff you would get at the end.
Mikoto Uchiha was currently nine months and waiting. She was sitting on her sofa and thinking about their yet to be born baby.
Fugaku was in general, can be a really stoic. But even he couldn't hold in his joy when he heard that he's going to be a father. After embarrassing himself in front of her, he tried his level best to act like that never happened. But that obviously didn't last in front of Mikoto's teasing.
It had been long discussed, but they came to agreement that if it were either a girl or boy, they'd name it Itachi. Fugaku was happy with Mikoto's name choice. Itachi Uchiha was definitely a striking name.
There are a lot of sparks brewing that may lead to an eventual war between the five nations. Maybe minus Kiri.
Due all the fuss and tension happening, Fugaku had been busy with the Konoha executives for planning precautions and counter measures. The best way the Hokage wants is to somehow prevent war and continue in peace for the sake of the village. But it looks like that might not work out in the state that were in.
So, Fugaku is not in the house. Her few cousin sisters are here to help if the situation arrives.
It was too good for her to be honest. She always dreamed of having children. What life she had in store for the future she doesn't know. But hopefully it would be merry and unforgettable.
A mild popping sensation flashed through her abdomen, followed by a trickle of fluid she couldn't stop.
"Neesan! Neesan!"
She heard the sound of fast moving footsteps closing in and reaching to her room. The door opened to see her cousins looking at her.
"Oh my gosh it broke. It's time! Take her to the Hospital!"
Other few clan members also came to assist and Mikoto was taken to the Hospital.
CRASH!!
Dust settled that were created by Fire style Justus. And after that it revealed a certain Shisui Uchiha plastered to the middle of a tree in a comical pose.
He somehow got out of and wobblingly came to the middle of the training ground.
There were stars and birds circulating around his head. His earing were ringing. And when his hearing became normal, so did his eyesight.
And what revealed to be Naruto standing in front him with a few scratches here and there, but overall fine.
'Holy fuck is she strong.'
When asked for a friendly spar by a genin, this was not what he expected. Sure he was not even a ninja yet and she is. But he didn't expect this much of a power gap. She is way above genin at this point.
"I guess that's enough for today, neesan. I really wish to be alive a bit more."
Naruto laughed. "It's okay Shisui. You are really strong. One thing's for sure. You are even stronger than I was in your age. You're four and you already know Fire style Jutsu. I didn't even start elemental manipulation until I was six."
That boosted up Shisui quite a bit. "Really?!"
"Really." Naruto was impressed by Shisui's fighting prowess. He had a ton of potential so why didn't she ever hear about him in the future? Was he also a victim of the massacre?
"Well chump, that's enough training for today. Let's take a break." Earning a nod for Shisui.
They sat on the plain, fresh grass fields. The was cold as it evening and nightfall would happen soon. But the clouds were darkened.
"Say Shisui, it's about to be dark. Won't your father ask?"
He shook his head. "No neesan, Dad is on a mission and he said he won't be back after tomorrow noon."
A lightning struck in the sky and after a matter of minutes, it was raining.
There were also cold gust of wind blowing, so the fresh, newborn rainwater was flowing sideways like heavy watery breezes.
They were standing there taking it all.
"Hey neesan, should we go get shelter?!"
"No! No need!!" Both of them screamed to exchange voices clearly during the heavy rain's roaring.
Both of them just stood there. Enjoying the chilling sensation the raindrops gives.
Naruto took in the fresh smell that the ground gives off when kissed with the wet rain. She started walking forward, lifted her eyes into the sky, twirled around, raising her hands into the air.
Barefooted as she was dancing, her wet hair flowing free in the watery breezes, Shisui was watching with mesmerized eyes.
He always craved for affection and care. Something he never got since the passing of his mother. Platonic, affectionate love.
He too joined in started to dance with her under the rain. Throwing away all of his sorrow, he started to smile again. Sincerely after a very long time.
A few hours later, it was still raining. Nightfall draped all over the village of Konoha.
Naruto and Shisui were walking back to the compound because it was getting late. The training sessions went well. It was time for some dinner and some sleep.
But when they arrived at the compound, they were met with an odd sight.
"Aye, what's going on here?!" Naruto asked.
All of the clan members were out in the open and some everyone was running to what seemed like the centre of the Uchiha district.
Shisui didn't know what to say either. "Must be something important. I haven't seen our people go like this for anything other than very important clan meetings. Let's follow them shall we?"
Naruto nodded and both of them followed where the crowd went.
And at last everyone stopped at the place. The Uchiha main family house.
Naruto and Shisui tried their best to squeeze their way through the crowd. But not only was the crowd thick, but it was still raining heavily and it was dark as well. Everyone was soaking wet so it was really difficult.
They eventually gave up and jumped to the roof of a nearby house. From here they could see things even more clearly than from ground.
"What's all the fuss about? Why is everyone looking at the front door like idiots?"
Shisui shrugged his shoulders. "Dunno, probably some main house clan... thingies.."
All of the clan members were looking at the front gate of the house with great anticipation.
Naruto still didn't get what this is all about. Is this supposed to be some big reveal?
Minutes passed by and nothing happened but still, both of them sat on the roof taking the heavy rain as did all the clan members on the ground.
Their patience brought result as the main house's door was opened. Naruto and Shisui watched keenly.
There were large sunshades in above of the main door for the main house members to stand under.
The first to step out were a bunch of clan elders. Then came a few women who looked to be nurses. And last but not least, one man stepped out.
Fugaku stepped out of the front door looking steady and straight. There was also a small bundle in his arms. Naruto instantly stiffened.
Fugaku cleared his throat. "My fellow clan members, tonight the gods have gifted me a great gift, possibly to the whole clan as well. This will be regarded as one of the most memorable days Uchiha had this age."
Fugaku then lifted the baby with his arms for everyone to see. "The next heir to clan, Uchiha Itachi!!"
A huge lightning struck across the sky the moment he said it.
The clan members all started clapping and celebrating the birth of their future leader. The thunderous sound of the celebration was send across all of Konoha even during a loud rainy night like now.
Naruto was dumbstruck. Itachi is born today. Itachi Uchiha, Sasuke's brother is born today.
"Wow, could you believe that? The clan head now has a child. I think there might be something special to him if Fugaku-sama appraised him like that. You think he'll be remembered as a legend someday?" Shisui asked.
Naruto paled. 'Yeah, if being forced by the council to massacre your own clan and joining an S-class terrorist group is what you call legend, go ahead' is what Naruto wanted to say. But she settled with "Yeah, I think he will be". To which Shisui replied,"Cool."
Naruto thought intently in the rain which soaked her wet.
There's now another person she has to protect now. Itachi was the entire reason the clan was wiped out and Sasuke deserted the village for power and in the end became an S-class criminal.
She could not afford that to happen. Hopefully she'll be able to make a change.
Fugaku went back to the house and the door was closed. Everyone present slowly walked back to their respective houses.
Naruto looked at Shisui. "Well, that was pretty cool. Let's go get dried up. You wouldn't want to catch a cold."
Shisui nodded. "Thanks, and uh... you wouldn't mind me staying in your house?"
"Of course not. It's fun to sleep together especially on a rainy night."
(A/N: No, I did not mean anything naughty or sexual in the above line. What's the matter with you perverts? It's just innocent children doing innocent things. I can read your minds when you click on this fanfic. So think about anything like that again, I'll sent you to Horny jail.)
Both of them went back to Naruto's house. They both dried up quickly and after telling the little Shisui cutie some epic chapters from Tales of the gutsy ninja, they both went to sleep.
Timeskip: 20 days later
CLING!
CLANG!
WHACK!
THUD!
"Oof!!" Obito stumbled back grabbing his stomach.
"It doesn't matter how much force you put when you swing the kunai, Obito! Without precision or focus, you're pretty much wasting your time. Now, don't hold it too firmly and not too loose either, now come at me again!"
"Hai!" Obito did as said and charged towards Naruto. This time he went carefully and swiftfully.
Naruto tried to slash Obito with her kunai but he evaded it gracefully. Multiple attempts were made but he avoided it like all the same.
Until Naruto kicked the kunai off his hand and up into the air. She then quickly climbed on his knee and jumped high backwards and did a front flip in the air to kick and shoot the kunai straight to Obito's face.
Obito barely evaded that and he got a small cut on his cheek.
"Holy crap, that was close. You're insane Naru-chan!"
Naruto landed on the floor and gave him a goofy grin. "Well, you need a bit insane in you to survive in these times. Well, I gotta say Obito, your skills went leaps high in just one month. Your Taijutsu is a lot better since I taught you the Interceptor-fist, and that's a lot better than the garbage Academy style one. Your Bukijutsu is great. Although you still need to control your ridiculous adrenaline when you get your hands on one of those things."
Obito's cheeks went warm and did a rosy blush. It's not everyday someone appraises him. "T-Thank you, Naru-chan."
He then looked straight to her face. "I can't put into words how grateful I am for you. I was so hopeless a while back. And then you came... and, I feel so happy after a long time."
"Obito... no need to be, you are a fellow Konoha shinobi and my friend. It is my duty to ensure your safety."
Naruto walked upto him and put a hand on his shoulder. "Besides, you're not hopeless. Anyone who thinks that is a fool. Just wait until they see you become the Hokage!"
Obito grinned. "That's right! I'll prove myself no matter what!"
"Good, now, let's work on your elemental jutsus. Do you remember that one I taught you last week?"
Obito nodded. "Yeah, I've been practicing ever since. I've memorized the handseals and good to go."
"Good, because you only knew the Fireball jutsu before. Don't get me wrong it is a very strong jutsu but a real ninja shouldn't be a one trick pony so you need versatility. Now perform the jutsu."
Obito nodded and walked to the middle of the training ground. He went through the handseals.
Snake, Dragon, Rabbit, Tiger
"Katon: Ryūka no jutsu!!"
A giant dragon head made of flames brew up out of Obito's mouth. Unlike the The great fireball jutsu, which just incinerates everything in it's path, this jutsu is more like a projectile which can be aimed at a specific target or a single point. The flame dragon head did as that and destroyed the large training stump on the field.
"Woohooo! Obito you did it!"
"Hell yeah I did!" He was so giddy. Wait till that Kakashi sees this!
"Well, Obito, that's enough for today." She took a storage scroll and unsealed. It revealed to be two bentos. "Let's eat lunch."
They both sat on the plain fields and both of them opened their bentos.
Obito liked what he was seeing. His bento had three onigiri with smoked salmon fillings, some picked onions, pasta salad, a tamagoyaki, and a small ball of wasabi paste on the side for taste.
Obito arranged his chopsticks and picked up an onigiri and took a bite. He was awed. It was delicious. He ate the rest of the onigiri and then went over the pasta salad, pickles, another bite of onigiri with a little wasabi paste, but his favourite was the tamagoyaki.
It had so much flavour and taste to it. Sure it was an eggroll, but when the simplest dish has the greatest taste, it stands out more than the others.
The taste of the eggs were amped up by the unique taste of spring onions and the tanginess created by chopped chives. It was creamy too. She must have put a lot of butter in it.
Naruto peeked over. "What are you looking at it for? You like it?"
"Yeah, its delicious. You did put butter in it didn't you? You cook a lot like my grandma did before she died. She used to have a saying that any dish is good with enough butter."
Naruto laughed at that. "Yeah, I did put butter. I just like the creamy texture it gives."
Obito nodded. "It's really tasty. Man, Naru-chan, you will make a great wife!"
Naruto blushed hard. "W-Wi-Wife?!"
"Yeah! Imagine the luck of the guy that marries you, he can get these type of stuff everyday!"
"Mmm.." Naruto mumbled looking down blushing while also poking her fingers.
"Well, tomorrow's the team selections. I can't wait to know who will be on my team. I hope it's you!"
Naruto already knew who was gonna be on Obito's team. So she corrected him to not get any false hopes. "No, Obito. I didn't attend the academy years like you did. So, your team must already be pre-planned due to the grading system. We have the least chance of teaming up."
Obito's face fell at that. "Aww, that sucks. wonder what kind of asshole I get."
She cheered him up. "Don't worry Obito, you'll get a great team."
They both smiled and started to walk away from the training ground to their homes.
"What would you think will be awaiting us when we become fully fledged ninja's Naru-chan?"
Naruto thought for a moment. "I dunno, Obito. What I do know is that a shinobi world war is right about our doorstep and it may come raging any minute. After we are trained enough, we will be sent into the battlefield as child soldiers."
"Woah, I didn't know it was that bad. Although I don't mind that either. I'm more than happy to put my ass on the fire for the protection of my loved ones. So I guess it's a happy news for me."
Naruto smiled at his self-righteousness. Maybe it's because of these similarities they have in common that they became friends so easily.
"Well, Obito, looks like this way leads to your home, and mine is that way. So I guess this is goodbye."
Naruto turned to leave but Obito quickly grabbed her arm tight. "Wait! Don't leave."
She was confused. "Obito what's wrong?"
"I can't... We, We can't join teams it means..."
Naruto prodded. "It means?"
"You won't be with me anymore... I don't have anyone else. I really like when you are with me, so you can always keep an eye on me, from... from.. preventing me doing anything stupid."
Obito instantly felt regret spilling all of it out. Everytime he expells all of his insecurities about being alone to someone he sees as a potential friend, they reject him. Thinking he is a weird loner. He felt really awkward. Now she'll think he's weird too.
However that's not what was happening on the other side.
Naruto's eyes were wide. She felt like a million butterflies were flapping inside her stomach. And... Her mind, without even her realizing, was giving her the urge to give him care. Her eyes took a serene grace, and her rosy lips curved to form a kind smile.
She then slowly walked closer to Obito who was still mumbling.
"I'm sorry, it was too awkward I promise I'm much cooler than this usually and I-"
It was then Obito realized her face was only inches apart from his. He jumped back. "UAA!! Y-You got close all of a sudden! Don't scare me like that!"
Naruto giggled. "Well, you did ask me to keep a 'close' eye on you."
Obito's cheeks reddened. He felt a lump on his throat. He knew he shouldn't pussy his way out of situations like this put he just couldn't help it when her face made a dreamy look. She was just sooo... beautiful.
She went upto him. "Don't worry Obito... Even If we aren't on the same team we can always meet up. I'll always be with you to give you a close eye. You're gonna be just fine."
Obito's brain shut down for a moment after he heard that. Then he felt something warm on his left cheek. When his mind started re-funcitoning to see what it is, he was shook to the core.
Naruto placed a full blown kiss on his cheek. She didn't let go. It was long, sloppy, watery, until, "Mwah." She let go.
"See you tomorrow, Obito..." She then proceeded to walk away.
Obito was starstruck. His eyes felt sleepy but in a mesmerizing way. He felt he could faint any moment. His mouth was open. He looked with his hazy vision at the cute figure walking away from him. His right hand rose slowly and even slowly started to wave gently while quietly mumbling, 'Byeeeeeee'. And then he passed out.
Naruto after crossing a distance, halted unexpectedly. A random thought crossed her mind. 'Why did I kiss him?'
Her after he spilled out his insecurities, her mind and body almost started working on it's own. 'He is my friend after all. And his puppy-face while being sad really pulled my heartstrings. Who wouldn't want to comfort a loved one?'
"Yeah that's why!" She walked into the distance to her home.
She convinced her mind that conclusion. But what she didn't know, is that her heart decided otherwise. Without even her realizing it.
And that wraps up Chapter four. It took a bit later than promised, but I did give it to you eventually. It's been a bit of a while since I started it, like, three months ago, It started with me doing it just for fun and now I'm into it. Even though my Fanfic is not the most popular thing on the website, I still feel so grateful and happy that this much people liked my work.
The ship is starting to sail. It'll be slow, but don't worry It'll get there eventually, so yeah.
