A/N: I expanded the side story a bit. I can barely get any ideas out now.
Nostalgia: Side Story EXPANDED
Hikaru watched the clock intently, only three minutes left before school let out for the day. Fifty-nine, fifty-eight, fifty-seven - counting down the seconds only seemed to make time go by slower so he focused his attention back to doodling in his notebook. Today he and Kaga-senpai had plans to go to the new salon they found from the last time they hopped from Go salon to Go salon. They were meeting up at the station after dropping their stuff off at home first. He lived further away than Kaga-senpai so he had to double time it in order to make it back on time, or senpai would never let him forget.
DING DONG! DING DONG!
The school bell went off, signalling the end of school. Their teacher stopped, closing the textbook he was reading out from and said the one thing Hikaru had been waiting for, "Read the rest of the chapter for homework before the next class. For now, class dismissed."
"Rise!" called out the class representative, "Bow!"
The sounds of chairs scraping the floor was heard as the class rose as one and bowed to their teacher before dispersing to clubs or to head home.
Hikaru grabbed his bag, and quickly ran out the classroom, but not before Akari called out to him. "Hikaru! Wait! Where are you going?! You've got classroom duty today!"
"Sorry, gotta go Akari! Meeting! I'll trade duty with you!" Hikaru yelled back, cursing in his mind at his lapse in memory, he'd forgotten about classroom duty.
"You owe me another pack of pudding!" Akari's voice called from behind him.
"Tsutsuii-senpaiiii!" Akari's clear voice rang out from outside in the hallway, as she quickly slid open the clubroom door. "Have you seen Hikaru?"
Tsustui shook his head, a wry smile on his lips. He pointed outside towards the direction of the soccer fields and suggested, "Not today. Have you checked with the soccer club?"
Akari bit her lip in frustration and sighed, "I already looked there. They said that Hikaru stopped by to mention that he was going to play Go today, so I came here."
"Ahh...then perhaps he's with Kaga-san."
"Great, if he is, they're going to be at another salon betting on Go again," Akari shook her head and sighed. There were a few salons that she knew the insufferable duo frequented for their betting. "Thanks anyway Tsutsui-senpai. Could you let me know if Hikaru and Kaga-senpai return?"
"Of course, Fujisaki-kouhai." Tsutsui easily agreed.
"You'd better not run away again tomorrow Hikaru!" Akari muttered under her breath as she left the clubroom. "At least not without giving me all of my promised puddings first!"
After Hikaru dropped off his backpack, right at the genkan of his home, he sprinted back out towards the subway station as fast as his legs could take him. He had so little time left before the agreed meet-up time with Kaga-senpai outside Shibuya Station in front of the Hachiko statue. He got to the platform just as his train pulled into the station, there were quite a few stops before Shibuya and he was hoping Kaga-senpai wasn't already there and waiting.
"4:47! I barely made it!" Hikaru gasped, out of breath from running up the escalator to the designated statue. Stopping to catch his breath, he glanced around to see if Kaga-senpai was around. Knowing his senpai's impatience for waiting, Hikaru was sure he would spot him trying to pick up girls or off buying food from a vendor somewhere in the vicinity.
"Hey! What're you looking for shrimp?" a familiar voice called from behind.
"Kaga-senpai!" Hikaru cried, turning around to find his senpai munching on some snacks.
"Let's go shrimp," Kaga-senpai said, head indicating to Hikaru to follow him. "We don't have much time for you to dawdle around here. You've got a curfew don't you, brat?"
