Quick Author's Notes: Thanks to Dogbertcarroll, JoeLawyer and Some Guy 329756789-01A (Who shall now forevermore be referred to as Some Guy). Reviews like yours where questions are asked are really enjoyable and they help me find areas I need to address. Also, I went back and tweaked Chapter Two based on feedback (and areas that I wasn't a hundred-percent satisfied with). I redid the scene where Harry was talking about making his staff, where Alexandria was looking at Harry's Email and a few other places.

Since it wasn't clear clear, this Worm setting is AU. That's why Dinah Alcott was taken by Coil earlier and Taylor triggered later. I needed certain events to have happened/not happened. Any other discontinuity errors are probably because it's been ages since I've read Worm.

Also, I'm looking for a Beta. If you're interested please feel free to PM me.

Chapter 3

Danny Hebert shook his head as he walked back to his truck after finalizing his vacation time. Luckily he had enough seniority that he was able to 'jump the line,' so to speak. Besides, it wasn't like he didn't normally take his vacations for the first week of Taylor's summer break so they could go backpacking through the Appalachian mountains for a few days.

It was a tradition that had started with his wife Annette and him after their honeymoon – though they'd had to put it off for a couple of years after Taylor was born. They'd started again after Taylor's fourth birthday – with Taylor strapped to her father's back as they hiked the less difficult trails. They'd only done the one trip before tragedy struck.

Danny felt a small wave of sadness as he thought of his beloved wife. The cancer had come out of nowhere and taken her very quickly. The near-crippling depression that had followed had been very rough, and it was only the intervention of his friends from work that had him seeing a therapist and taking the anti-depression medications he'd been prescribed. Taylor was only four when Annette died so she barely remembered her mother.

Once Danny was back to somewhat normal, he started taking Taylor out on the hikes when she was seven – and it was something they did every year since – with Taylor attending a summer camp during the rest of the summer so he knew that she'd be safe while he was working.

I guess this year instead of summer camp she'll be learning to be a hero. I really wish you hadn't chosen this path if only because I want you to be safe, but damn if I'm not proud of you, he thought to himself.

Doctor Mother frowned as Harry Potter entered her thoughts again. With Scion gone the End of the World was no longer a worry. But the catalyst for Scion vanishing was a new worry all by himself. As soon as Contessa's visions of the future (as well as the rest of the Cauldron-employed precogs) had changed they immediately sought to identify just what had changed.

After tracking Scion's movements, they had tracked the gold-skinned 'hero' to an Alleyway in Brockton Bay. After that he was gone. Tapping into the CCTV cameras that were in the alleyway had been child's play for their technicians. Just prior to Scion's arrival-cum-disappearance there had been some sort of glow followed by a naked boy suddenly appearing. Said boy then collapsed into a pile of trash unconscious.

Initially Doctor-Mother had wanted the boy brought in for study, but Contessa's 'Path to Victory' power was going haywire – she was nearly overwhelmed with possible outcomes of that decision. Not unlike Scion, the boy's very presence was difficult to foresee. In the end, it was decided to 'wait and see.'

That didn't stop either woman from cursing the boy's presence every few minutes as Contessa was effectively blind and Cauldron's purpose had been fulfilled. Now humanity's greatest threat -aside from itself - are the Endbringers. I think that should be our new goal.

That thought brought her up short. Wasn't Leviathan supposed to be attacking Brockton Bay this week? Without Scion there to drive the Endbringer off...

Taylor was amazed at how good she felt. Normally she wasn't a clothes horse, in fact she didn't even enjoy shopping at all as she wasn't entirely comfortable with her looks. There was a reason she preferred baggy clothes and hoodies. But spending someone else's money to dress them up? She had to admit it was fun. Is this what having a boyfriend is like? She wondered – not for the first time.

Of course, there was the fun of seeing Harry in just his underwear as he was getting changed as a passing customer had tripped and drug the curtain to the changing room down. She was amazed how well defined his muscles were. Normally she was only into buff guys, but Harry had her seriously purring a bit.

There was one moment of worry when Harry said he thought they were being followed. He'd spotted a jogger wearing headphones that he said was actually Tattletale. The fact that the jogger passed them twice that made her worry. Thankfully they didn't see her again. But then Harry noticed a girl walker her dogs that he said was the villain called Hellhound that really had Taylor worried.

They finished purchasing the motorcycle riding gear they'd found in his size and quickly moved on to a grocery store Harry could stock up on food and water to take with him. Thankfully Harry hadn't spotted any other villains following them.

Harry was rather amazed at how much he enjoyed pizza – he'd never been allowed to have it when the Dursleys bought it and it just wasn't served at Hogwarts. The large pie Danny had ordered the three of them had been cut into eight slices, with Taylor claiming two and the remaining being evenly split between Harry and Danny. Then there were the cheesy bread sticks with dipping sauce. Harry officially had a new favorite food.

"So how'd your kids' day go?" Danny asked.

"It was fine," Harry said. Taylor rolled her eyes at Harry's lack of detail.

"Harry can summon cars and trucks for a single mana and got the patterns for several types. He also was wondering if you could provide him driving lessons and I thought maybe Bill from work might teach him to ride a motorcycle," Taylor said. She left out the part where she got a good look at him in the changing booth.

Danny smiled at his daughter's behavior. It was good seeing her acting her age. "That can be arranged, anything else happen?"

"Ran into some girls from Taylor's school. Wasn't impressed," Harry said with a shrug.

"Harry also used his magic stuff to make the inside of his backpack larger," Taylor said with a grin. "Otherwise we'd be loaded down with bags even before reaching the Market."

"I was wondering where your stuff went. We'll run it through the washer and dryer real quick after we get done eating. Maybe watch a movie before bed. I do want to get an early start in the morning," Danny warned.

"So something I've been wondering," Taylor asked as she nibbled on a bread stick. "Why me? I mean, why are you helping me?"

Harry ran his fingers through his hair and thought about it for a moment. "A large part of it is what my friend Hermione called my 'saving people thing.' It just feels like the right thing to do. I have these powers, I feel like I should use them to help people. In my world, I'd never be allowed to do so to this extent because we have to keep magic a secret."

Taking a drink of his Sprite, he added, "Another thing is it's almost like my powers are itching to be used. Like I need to shape the world around me to better suit how I feel it should be. And then there's the fact that helping you lets me explore a facet of my powers. I mean, I have the knowledge crammed into my head somehow but not the experience."

The Heberts were silent a moment before Danny spoke up. "Where do you think the knowledge comes from?"

Harry was silent a moment as he thought about it.

"When my... spark... ignited. All I could focus on was the pain. My entire body was consumed in this rainbow fire. When I left my world I was just trying to get away from the flames, and I stepped into your world entirely on instinct. I kinda passed out afterwards, but I remember having these dreams. Almost like I was experiencing life through the eyes of someone else. It's all still a bit hazy, but it's almost like I was trained how to instinctively use my powers in my sleep," Harry said, his voice ringed in frustration as he just didn't know.

"Reincarnation, maybe?" Taylor suggested.

For some reason that rang true in Harry's mind. "Maybe," he said uncertainly. "I mean, it fits. For some reason it feels like using Planeswalker powers should require some sort of training. And while we're extremely powerful and nearly immortal we aren't unkillable. Though that makes me wonder if I'm me, or if I'm my spark and how did I wind up in this body?"

Harry jumped a bit as he felt Taylor's hand on his shoulder. "Does it matter? I mean, even if you are your spark, you are still you," she said worriedly.

Danny remained silent on the issue, but he watched his daughter interact with this young man and couldn't help but be amazed at how much Taylor was like her mother. As much as he wanted to push the boy away after he used his powers to help Taylor survive longer at her chosen path, he decided right there that her choices were exactly that – her choices.

"Yeah," Harry said after a short pause. "Yeah. I'm Harry Potter. No matter if I was someone else before, I'll always be Harry Potter."

"Well, now that you're done being all full of angst," Danny joked – earning a glare from Taylor and a small grin from Harry. "Let's get your backpack unloaded and your clothes cycled through the wash. Taylor can help you with that and I'll clean up. Then you kids can pick out a movie to watch."

Harry nodded and got up and the two teens retreated to the living room to sort through Harry's bag. It took a while to completely unpack everything and remove any tags, but they finally got it done and the clothes into the washing machine. The non-clothing supplies were then repacked into the bag.

"I didn't realize you'd bought that much," after he saw how much stuff the kids had got. Not only did Harry buy a 4-person ten and sleeping bag, but he also had a small camping bed, some collapsible chairs, and enough canned or prepackaged food and jugs of water to last a month.

"Well, after I leave in a couple of weeks, I don't know where I'll end up from there," Harry said with a shrug. "I mean think about it – my Earth had wizards, witches, goblins, trolls, unicorns, dragons and the like. Your Earth has super heroes and villains. There's no telling where I could end up. And once I start world hopping, I'm thinking I'll be alternating between the Mandala and the larger multiverse."

"Why the skipping around?" Taylor asked.

"I can't really explain it, but I just feel the need to move around. Like an itch I can't scratch. I don't know how long I'll be able to stay in any one world within the Mandala. I like spending time with you, but I think it's the lack of readily available mana given the recharge rate," Harry said sadly.

"So what is your plan?" Danny asked – even though he didn't want to break his daughter's heart, she needed to know just what the boy she was interested in had planned.

"I figure I'll spend as much time in the Mandala as I can stand – and really I think a week will be pushing it unless we're lucky to find lots of mana sources – and then I'll take a short cooling off period someplace outside of it. Maybe a day or two, I dunno. Then I'll pop back into the Mandala in a random corner and hope that maybe it's am Earth close enough to my own I can use that as a jumping-off point in my search," Harry said as he started to repack the non-clothing bits into his backpack.

"You must really miss your friends," Taylor said sadly. She remembered what it was like to have friends. Back before Emma turned against her for no reason.

"Yeah, for whatever reason I don't miss Ron or Ginny all that much – I'm almost positive I was being fed potions – but Hermione was something like a sister to me and Neville was becoming a real mate. Luna was weird, but a fun weird if that makes sense. Fred and George were always good for a laugh and didn't act like Boy-Who-Lived groupies," Harry explained.

Dropping the last of the water jugs into the backpack Harry turned to the Heberts. "But the biggest reason I need to get back is so I can find my godfather," he said with finality.

"Didn't you say he fell through the 'Veil of Death?' Wouldn't that means he's, you know, dead?" Taylor asked worriedly.

"I've been thinking about that all day, actually. I don't think the 'Veil' was intended for killing people, I think it was supposed to lead to Avalon or something and got... disconnected?" Harry said uncertainly. "The chamber the veil was in... it, it looked like it was built around the veil much later. The platform where the veil sits is made of a different kind of stone than the amphitheater around it. It's older."

"I'm almost positive the veil was actually a portal to someplace else until it got disconnected. Or maybe the return portal got broken. Then they started using it to execute people without understanding that people weren't dying when they went through – they just couldn't get back," Harry explained as he finished repacking the bag.

The tension in the air was almost palpable. Deciding to break it, Danny asked "So what movie should we watch."

"I honestly don't have a clue. Never got to watch many movies," Harry admitted.

"Star Wars seems like a safe bet," Danny decided.

"Really Dad? Star Wars?" Taylor groaned. She swore her old man was obsessed with those movies.

"Aren't there three of those movies?" Harry asked.

"Six, but we don't talk about the prequels in this house," Danny said seriously. "We can watch the first one tonight, and pack the laptop and watch the others after we've set up camp."

Slightly out of phase with the rest of the universe, two figures in black cloaks watched the three figures as they watched A New Hope. The taller of the figures was more interested in watching the other, while the other silently prayed a god he didn't believe in that the movie's title was a good omen.

"Aren't you worried he'll catch on, Nick?" The tall one asked, her voice a rich contralto.

"He's not yet recovered enough of his old strength and knowledge to even begin to suspect this plane of reality exists, let alone perceive things that happen here," the shorter one said in a deep bass.

"He will figure it out eventually," She pointed out. "And you know how he feels about being manipulated. If he ever finds out that you were the mastermind behind his life as Harry Potter..."

"You worry too much, Penny," Nicholas said dismissively as he continued to monitor the spells he'd laid over the two Heberts to make them more... accepting of one Harry Potter. "Besides, you and I both know what the girl's fate would have been without our intervention."

Perenelle had to admit that the girl would be better off. The poor girl would have had an even harder life if it hadn't been for the interference of her and her husband. She just wish they could punish Cauldron for putting that tumor in Annette Hebert's brain so they could attempt to force Danny to trigger. That didn't mean she couldn't later leak that information to Taylor once the girl came into her own.

Perenelle nodded. "I'm going to see how things are going on Gaia, hopefully they'll soon figure out that their mana-sucking machines are killing their planet," she told her husband before stepping into the Blind Eternities using the cloak created by their master.

Nicholas just continued to study his master, wondering just how much of his master's previous life remained.

Coil leaned back in his chair. His teleconference with Cauldron went about how he expected. Though being cautioned not to use his powers until this Harry Potter left Earth Bet was worrying. As tempting as it was to split the timeline and use one path to order the capture of the Anomaly, he couldn't help but think about Dinah's warnings before her precog powers shut her mind down.

"Don't tickle sleeping dragons indeed," he mumbled. If he didn't suspect that Contessa was also a precog, he would have found it odd that she had used that exact phrase when she flat out ordered him to leave Harry Potter alone.

"So be it," He huffed, before sending an email to Tattletale to pull back and leave the boy alone.

As he was leaving his base getting ready to head back to the house he kept as Thomas Calvert, he realized he was not alone. The silenced pistol shots to his gun arm and knees gave away his unexpected guest's intentions. He did his best not to scream in pain as he collapsed to the pavement but failed.

"You know, it took me quite a while to figure out who you were. Even with my powers that speaks to how well you did at keeping it a secret. But letting me see you had direct access to PRT intel? That was where you messed up," The voice of Tattletale spoke out.

"Do you think you'll get away with this?" Coil hissed in pain, wishing he hadn't dropped his phone as it had bounced under the car.

Tattletale answered him with a bullet in his head before nodding to a rogue she'd hired. The rogue entered it's breaker-state – a large ameoba-like form, and it consumed the body and car – quickly breaking them down and digesting them before he returned to normal.

"Gonna have indigestion from those hydrocarbons," the rogue said with a noxious belch. "My money?"

"The other half of your payment has already been wired to your account," she told him. He didn't say anything else, just nodded and left.

Tattletale took a deep breath to steady herself before taking her former boss's elevator down to his office. There was work to be done before Phase Two could begin. And I need to figure out what I'm going to do about Dinah. Fucking Coil, getting a little kid hooked on drugs like that... and using my team to distract the capes so he could pull it off!

As Harry laid on the hideaway bed that night, he had to admit that today had been amazing – though he was kicking himself for using his last mana on something frivolous like expanding his backpack.

If we'd been attacked, we'd have been in big trouble. I need to be more responsible with my mana in the future. Stupid bullshite powers demanding to be used, he mentally grumbled.

At least he'd really enjoyed spending time with Taylor that day. It made him feel... normal. And watching Star Wars with Danny and Taylor had been a lot of fun. He was really looking forward to watching the next two films.

But now that he was alone with his own thoughts, he couldn't help but worry. Worry about Hermione, Neville, and Luna and how they were taking his disappearance. Worry about Sirius and just where the veil sent him. Worry about how his new status as a planeswalker was obviously changing him based on his foolishly using his only mana and then acting cocky when Taylor worried about him getting birdcaged.

And that was another problem - he was already growing attached to Taylor and Danny. He'd miss them after he'd left Earth Bet. Yet even now he could feel this... urge – to leave the Mandala and see what there was to see. The only thing holding that feeling at bay was the knowledge that he'd be traveling starting in the morning, though he knew it would barely scratch the itch.

Mana, he decided. It's all about mana. I wonder if this is how a drug addict feels? With how slow mana replenishes in the mandala I can already tell I'm going to hate spending time here. Maybe that's the real reason 'walkers don't come here.

The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. The need to use his powers was one itch, the need to have mana to do so was another. Maybe that's why planeswalkers fight? The need to accumulate as much mana as possible means we fight over mana sources.

Those thoughts were way too heavy to deal with so instead he focused on the upcoming week. He'd never been camping before so this would be a bit of an adventure. And it would be good practice for for when he was on his own out in the wilds of whatever world he happened across. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up lots of mana. I just hope my fears about my affinity for non-red or blue sources turn out to be nothing, Harry thought as he finally started to nod off.

His dreams were much the same as the past two nights – learning how to use his powers and weave the mana into basic spells. At least this time the dream was halfway lucid and he tried to focus on his teacher's face but just couldn't identify him.

"Luna, about that book you gave me," Hermione started to ask the blonde Ravenclaw once she caught the girl outside of the Come and Go room.

"Informative, isn't it?" Luna ask with a small smile as she paced in front of the tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy.

"Err... it all seems a bit fantastic," Hermione said uncertainly. "How did your mother come across that information? Is there other proof of those claims?"

"My parents were unspeakables – though they would never come out and admit it. There is all sorts of information available in the Department of Mysteries if you know where to look. That was the project my mum was working on when she died. She was trying to develop a means of tapping mana the way a 'walker does," Luna said as a door appeared.

Hermione followed Luna into the room, discovering a perfect recreation of the Library. "Luna, why did you ask for the Library?"

"This is a library, but not the library. Though I wonder if the room decided to copy the school's library out of laziness or because the Hogwarts library is the only one I've seen outside of our personal one?" Luna mused before answering Hermione. "I asked the room for a place where you can see evidence collected about the existence of Planeswalkers and I can find everything written about the Veil."

As she spoke, two different stacks of books appeared on a table directly in front of the two girls. "It would seem we have some reading to do. It's a good thing the copy-protection charms don't work here. Gemino, permanens."

Hermione was speechless at Luna's knowledge of the spells, let alone when a copy actually appeared. It didn't take more than a dozen castings of the two spells to replicate the two stacks of books.

"I suspect our researches are going to take most of the summer," Luna said with a small smile. "It's a good thing Harry's sparking killed You know Who and most of his followers. By the way, I would get used to taking purging potions every day so you don't get love-potioned."

Hermione was once more rendered speechless by the blonde's behavior as said girl skipped out of the room – neatly avoiding any questions or debate from the sputtering bushy-haired-brunette.

Both teens felt morning came way too early and breakfast was a simple affair – milk and cereal. Not that Harry was complaining aside from the fact American cereals had too much sugar in them. Taylor stuck her tongue out at Harry when he shared his views on her favorite cereal.

There was little chit-chat as the the tired teens help Danny load his extended cab truck with the Hebert's tent as well as their sleeping bags and a couple of coolers loaded with food. There were also a couple of nets and a good deal of rope as well.

"What's this stuff for?" Harry had asked.

"It's a bear-bag. You put all of your food into the net and hang it from a tree about fifteen feet off of the ground to keep bears out of it," Danny told him.

"Do you think we'll get to see bears?" Harry asked excitedly.

"Sure. Probably even some deer, foxes, tons of birds, snakes, skunks," Danny said with a smile at the young brit's enthusiasm.

It didn't take long to get on the road. At Harry's urging they first went south through Hampton to pass by the Hampton Salt Marsh Conservation Area – which Harry told them he could tap into for blue, or he could channel a mana into it to get a blue and black or a blue and green.

"Isn't black mana, you know, evil?" Danny asked.

"Not exactly. It is the mana of death, destruction, and domination. But it's also the mana of many bugs and reptiles. Life can't exist without death. And White mana doesn't necessarily mean good. If I had the pattern to summon Spanish Inquisitors, I'd bed they'd cost white mana to summon even though they did horrible things to innocent people," Harry explained.

"If I were to summon a copy of Taylor, that copy would cost one each black and green because she has Master powers over bugs and bugs can be any combination of black and green," he added.

"Wait, you can summon people? I thought that you could only summon animals and stuff?" Danny said in amazement.

"Humans are part of the animal kingdom," Harry pointed out. "I've also got the pattern for the Shadow Stalker girl we ran into – as well as a couple of others who may have been following us for some reason yesterday. And I can't summon a copy of you on Earth Bet. Your pattern is considered Legendary so only one per world. And even then, it wouldn't be a perfect copy. Um... think crystals or snowflakes. Just because you use all of the same materials to make them doesn't mean they'll be identical."

"You never said we had capes following you," Danny said worriedly.

"I'm not sure they were," he answered uncertainly – not wanting her to worry. "Some girl called Tattletale – one blue mana and she's a short-range clairvoyant but needs information about the thing she's trying to predict. I think I was throwing her powers off and that caught her attention. Then there was Hellhound – two green and she can empower dogs and wolves."

"That's one hell of a coincidence," Danny muttered. "And I'm not sure, but I think those two are villains."

"How much of my life would a copy of me know?" Taylor asked – wanting to change the subject.

"She'd have all of your knowledge and skills, but none of your personal memories. Your personality would have a huge influence on her behavior but that's about it," Harry said after thinking about it a moment.

"Crazy," Taylor said with a shake of her head as they drove onward.

Along the drive they passed through Hampton, Portsmouth, Dover, and Rochester – which were all big enough to count as their own separate urban areas so that gave Harry another four colorless mana to play with each week.

Their drive ended at Wildcat Mountain campgrounds two hours later – which was situated between Wildcat Mountain and Mount Washington. As Harry predicted, he needed to spend time in a forest or stretch of plains to claim it but just being between the two mountains allowed him to form the bond needed to be able to tap them for mana.

When they stopped to use the restrooms, Harry just poked Taylor on her nose and channeled a red mana to cast Reflexes on her. Taylor felt the surge of energy and grinned. "You just cast a spell on me, didn't' you?" she exclaimed, chasing after him.

"Yup. Reflexes. Amps up your reaction time," Harry said as he kept walking.

The rest of the trip was uneventful. At the campgrounds between Wildcat Mountain and Mount Washington, they set up their tents before catching a shuttle to the opposite end of the hiking trail. From there they did an eight-hour hike along the trails and Harry was able to add Mount Moriah, Middle Carter Mountain, and Carter Dome to his collection as well as a section of forest giving him a single of green mana.

And as promised, they had seen plenty of wildlife – though the only thing that was actually worth the mana to summon (at least to Harry because why the bloody hell would he want to spend a whole green mana on a few squirrels or a rabbits?) was a deer and an elk (a single green mana each). Harry was only mildly disappointed at the lack of bears until Taylor promised to take him to a zoo.

It was nearly dark when they finally got back to the camp grounds. As they had only packed trail mix, jerky, and water they were ready for some actual food. Helping Danny lower the bear-bag while Taylor got the campfire going, they pulled out some cans of chili as well as marshmallows, graham crackers, and bars of chocolate for s'mores.

"Today has been a ton of fun," Harry said with a grin as he ate his chili.

"Dad and I do this every year," Taylor smiled at him.

"So how much mana have you collected?" Danny asked.

"Available I have a blue, four red, four colorless, and one green. If I use one of my colorless I can get another green or a black. I need to find some open plains to spend some time in, that or some farmland or something," Harry admitted. "Counting the mana I've already used, I have another colorless, a blue or a black, and a blue."

"Hard to find in this part of the country. Might have to do some more traveling. Tomorrow we're doing another hike – it'll be about 9 hours to make the round-trip. We'll be heading up towards Mount Adams, then to Mount Jefferson, then Mount Washington – though you said you already bonded to that one."

"Yeah, it'll be nice to have more red. Hopefully I'll pick up at least another green," Harry sighed.

"How big a patch of forest does it need to be to count as it's own source of mana?" Taylor asked.

"About a twenty-five square miles. Call it five-by-five miles. Same with plains and swamps, though it can vary," Harry admitted. "Thankfully I don't need to be in the middle of it, just somewhere within it. For islands, they just need to be between fifteen and twenty-five square miles before it counts – though a chain of smaller islands can count as one if there are enough of them. Beaches are more forgiving, as pretty much any five-mile stretch counts as a separate source. For mountains it's each and every peak."

Harry frowned a bit before mumbling "I wish I really understood where this knowledge was coming from."

"Well then, the day after tomorrow we'll go looking for Farmland," Danny finally said – unsure as to what to tell the boy.

That night Harry's dreams were slightly different. Instead of learning how to use magic dream-Harry was in a huge library studying from a red book with a Red mana symbol on it.

These are all good for battle... I hope this isn't a portent, Dream-Harry thought to himself.

The next day's hike turned out to be a major boon – during the second leg of their trip they passed through Tuckerman Ravine which could be tapped for either white or red. Harry also added another green to his available mana. While this helped settle his itch ever so slightly, he was feeling eager to use his powers so he went ahead and hit Taylor with spider climb after he picked up the second forest.

The surge of power had Taylor pulling Harry into a kiss which left him speechless and confused. This had Danny laughing hard enough he was doubled over. Taylor was giving her father the stink-eye and Harry couldn't help but blush – especially as Taylor grabbed his hand and pulled him along the trail.

"Your face!" Danny said once he got control of himself. "I'm not even mad at her kissing you because your face!"

Leaving Danny behind, the two teens kept walking. "Err, Taylor, you know I can't really stick around, right?" Harry asked awkwardly. "We can't exactly be boyfriend-girlfriend."

"I know," the girl sighed. "If we had some way of sending emails or something we could make it a long-distance thing – if you promise to come visit every couple of months.

"I can't make that promise," Harry said sadly. "Not until I've gotten the hang of navigating the Blind Eternities. Just because I have the bond with the lands around here doesn't mean I can pin-point where I drop in."

Their conversation was interrupted as Danny had hurried to catch up to them.

"Don't feel too bad, Harry," Danny told him. "I had the same reaction when Annette grabbed me by the shirt and pulled me into a kiss after our first date."

Taylor snorted as she remembered her grandma sharing that story. Harry just kept quiet as he lacked the experience to know how to dignify that with a response.

After reaching camp, dinner consisted of canned stew and a second round of smores. Tired out after two days of hiking, Harry had no problems falling asleep. After Dream-Harry spent the night learning about Green magic, his dream faded into a very pleasant dream involving a certain girl slipping into his tent in the middle of the night.

Awaking the next morning he glared at the mess in his boxers and quickly changed clothes before helping Danny and Taylor with breakfast – which like yesterday consisted of cereal bars and shelf-stable milk boxes.

"What's today's plan?" Taylor asked her dad.

"We're going to take the scenic route home, see if we can find Harry some more white mana," Danny said. "Then we'll find some empty back roads and you kids will get some driving lessons. Then it's back home. I'll try to set something up with Bill to teach Harry to ride a motorcycle."

What followed was the road trip to end all road trips. Taylor did alright with learning to drive her dad's truck, but Harry took to it like he was born to drive. They'd nearly reached the New Hampshire/Massachusetts state line before they'd finally found a stretch of open fields large enough that Harry could bond with it.

On the plus side there Ossipee Lake and the neighboring Heath Pond Bog netted Harry another blue and a black respectively (though it was only Taylor's powers that made hanging around the Bog for an hour tolerable as there were mosquito everywhere). As they were passing Lake Winnipesaukee Harry picked up another blue.

Once they were back in Brockton Bay, it was decided that Harry would space out the remaining three enchantments over the next few days. He and Taylor did take that trip to the Zoo – where he managed to pick up patterns for multiple animals. At the end of that day Harry gave her flight – and that night she spent some time flying to see how fast she could go.

The next two days Taylor and Danny were spending doing Dad and Daughter things while Harry was learning to ride a motorcycle from Danny's friend, Bill. The older man reminded Harry of Sirius with his bawdy jokes and mannerisms. And Harry had taken to riding a motorcycle just like he'd taken to riding a broom. By the end of the second day Bill had told Harry he had nothing left to teach him.

After Harry gave Taylor her final enchantment - Unholy Strength, Danny was amazed that she didn't need to spend time training her strength. Taylor explained the Manton Effect, and Harry just laughed at them both.

"The enchantment is almost aware – it knows when it's called for and when it's not," he said cheekily. "Now lets see what we can do about your costume."

Pulling in a colorless mana Harry put his hand on Taylor's shoulder so the spell could take her measurements. In his other hand the costume started to create itself. Once it was done, it had the same basic look as her 'Skitter' costume but was in metalic blues and greens for the armor panels. The eye coverings appeared to be solid blue-green.

"Go try it on," Harry said with a smile. Taylor grinned back and went to change.

"So how much longer are you sticking around?" Danny asked once she was out of the room.

"I was thinking tomorrow I'd take a trip up the coast to gather some more mana, and then leave the morning after," Harry said. "Taylor already knows."

Danny just nodded as he saw his daughter return dressed in her costume. "How do I look?"

"Like a hero," Danny said proudly. Harry just nodded his agreement.

Learning to ride a motorcycle was way more fun that learning to drive a car – it's almost like riding a broom! Harry decided as he rode the bike he'd summoned up the beach in an attempt to get more blue mana.

Now that his lessons were completed, he'd ducked into an alleyway and summoned a bike and was in the process of riding it up the beach in the search of more blue mana before he'd head back to the Hebert residence. He was stopped at a light when the dull roar of a chopper pulled up next to him.

Taking a quick peak he wished he hadn't. The woman just flat out looked trashy. Her long blond hair was dirty, she was wearing too much makeup, her tank top barely contain her huge breasts – and it was obvious she didn't wear a bra. She was also wearing very skimpy cut-off shorts that honestly covered less than normal women's underwear. She grinned at him – her teeth rotting out of her mouth even as she revved her bike at him.

Even with Harry only glancing over for a second he was able to acquire her pattern. Sherrie Bailey aka Squealer. Two red mana. Tinker specializing in vehicles, can expertly operate any vehicle she's tinkered with. Presently suffering from methamphetamine addiction. Her bike has been upgraded and would cost two mana to summon due to it having an enhanced engine and armor plating.

The light turned green and Harry started moving but Squealer gunned her engine and took off – blue flames belched out of the exhaust on her bike. Harry would have shaken his head but he was focused on getting to where he needed to be.

Shame I don't know a spell to get rid of her addiction, he thought. Something tells me she had a lot of potential before she got started on the drugs.

The rest of Harry's day trip was uneventful – in fact he'd made it up to Portland Maine and back well before dinner time, managing to add five blue and another colorless. If he hadn't already promised to attend a 'going away' dinner with Danny and Taylor, he'd have spent even longer up in Maine as there were several islands that had ferry service.

Maybe tomorrow... I can put off leaving until after I've added those islands, he told himself as he felt the itch lessen ever so slightly.

They were in the middle of playing a pre-dinner game of Scrabble when the sirens went off. Harry was confused but Danny and Taylor had looks of pure terror on their faces.

"What's with the sirens?" Harry asked, wondering what could get that reaction from the pair.

"Endbringer Attack," Taylor breathed out.

AN: I couldn't resist a cliffhanger! Well, that and the chapter was getting a little long. Most of the rest of the next chapter is going to be handled from the POV of other characters. I need to go back and re-read the battle against Leviathan so I can figure out how I'm going to blend Harry into it. I also have to finalize what Taylor's role is going to be given she's got some MtG Enchantments on her – basically turning her into a mini-tank on top of her master powers.
