Initially, I didn't really expect to write such a long story regarding the relationship between an overthinking opossum and an introverted hyena. As a matter of fact, I intended for this fanfiction to be one chapter involving a romantic moment taking place between the two main characters of the story. However, my plans changed entirely since I saw a crack of potential lying within this emerging concept of mine. So, instead of one small and rushed chapter, I decided that eleven chapters would be best fitting for what I wanted to write, as well as an epilogue to top everything off. At first, I was reconsidering as to whether or not I end the fanfiction at Chapter 8, given how the chapter managed to end so romantically; however, there was much more to tell, and so I wrote more as a result.
I had begun this whole story in March once quarantine was put into play. I was free from school, and I enjoyed this feeling very much. I had so much leisure time to take advantage of, and I was honestly rather glad that I immediately found something to work on: this fanfiction. Coming up with concepts about what to write proved to be rather stressful, and in the ninth chapter I kind of broke the fourth wall a bit with Camo's struggle to write a good letter. On the bright side though, these concepts I came up with, such as Camo taking Sodo to the carnival and dream sequences between the two were sincerely fun to think about and amazing to write down. I didn't want this fanfiction to be as dull and inconsiderate like others ones that I've read, so I've taken the time to make sure that my writing was good at the least.
Initially, I never shipped Camo and Sodo, or Nono and Peb together, but a friend and editor of mine known as BlizzardHyena had explained he shipped Sodo and Camo when I asked people in the server as to what pairs did they thrive off of. At first, I didn't actually understand the chemistry, but then I noticed that in it's own way, it would manage to work. An extroverted gentleman and an introverted emo, the dynamic was just perfect. I didn't actually plan to have any relationship between the coyote and the jackal in the fanfiction but that changed back in November, when me and Blizzard were discussing the two individuals regarding how they felt towards one another. We both agreed that they too would have an interesting dynamic, since it would manage to help Camo with the feelings he was going through.
As I was writing the fourth chapter, I was starting to question as to whether or not I should have Camo and Sodo end up happily together in a relationship. I had experienced a situation where someone else did not reciprocate the feelings I had distributed to them, and I was saddened and angry about all the mess I had been going through, and still am going through, to the point where I didn't even want to continue the story at all. As much as I hated myself and the situation entirely, I had to recognize the situation that I got involved in wasn't my fault in any way. Additionally, altering the ending would be unfair to anyone reading the story that really wanted the two main characters to be together (if anyone else besides my editors and myself are reading this). As a result, I didn't go through with the bad ending where Sodo rejected Camo's feelings; however, if anyone at all would be somehow interested in seeing how the bad ending would've turned out, I'd do my best to try to write it out.
This most likely won't be the last story I write regarding these characters. For instance, I did plan to rewrite I Kid You Not but in Sodo's perspective so that way the audience could see how the hyena was thinking and feeling during the events of the story, which would probably be as long as the story that was in Camo's perspective. Using the same dialogues and different situations that Sodo himself was in, I could actually manage to put this together. Another story which I have been working on for a while which is still undergoing a selection for a title. This story will be an anthology series of short horror stories, which are distinct from the other tales in their own way. I also wanted to write a story between two of my original characters, and how their bond together develops overtime, as well as their personalities as well.
I'd also like to talk about a few comics I've been working on with some of my friends. UnboundFuzzbear, for instance, is a friend of mine who I am working on a series of stories with regarding his characters known as Husks, and I do hope that it gains more attention over the years. I am also working with a rubber hose artist and good friend of mine known as EntDraws, and I plan to write scripts to help him draw out his comics that include two important characters, Dimmi the Dog and Randy the mute mailman, including more characters as well! Additionally, I'm working with a friend known as TocuTalks, and we are currently developing a comic series known as "Familiar Place" with a corgi witch living in a city that discriminates against those possessing magic abilities, where he also lives with his familiar, Yaw, and an old cat warrior known as Gre. Lastly, I am working with another good friend of mine known as Limited, and our comic involves an introverted raccoon and a dysfunctional grizzly bear who both take an interest in learning how to perform magic.
And that's about all I have to write. I hope some background on my process of writing I Kid You Not, as well as some insight on what I plan to work on in the future intrigues anyone who is reading this note. I would also like to take the time to thank UnboundFuzzbear for being one of my editors, and I especially would love to offer my sincere gratitude and appreciation to BlizzardHyena, who had discussed these chapters and possible edits with me before uploading them to the website. I also appreciate how a variety of instances within this story would not have happened without his recommendations. To add onto this, this fanfiction wouldn't have actually debuted without him telling me who his favorite pairing was.
Lastly, I'd like to thank anyone who had read this, for at the least managing to read my story. It made me happy knowing people out there were intrigued enough to read it until the very end.
I really hope that all of you enjoyed my story, and I hope you stick around for anything else I plan to bring to life.
