'This battle has gone on for far too long.'

The brief pause only served to let her know just how exhausted she was as well as how dangerously quick the blood in her lastest injury flowed.

'If I don't end this soon I'll be too far gone for the healers'.

Not for the first time, she found herself wishing for her mother, the ache in her chest a familiar companion.

'Though I wouldn't say no to having my father either.'

For the smallest of moments she felt a twinge at the loss of something as simple as calling him Papa. It wasn't even clear to her anymore when that happened, but she missed the simplicity of her life when she did.

'I probably lost that the same time he lost his sanity.'

A sad truth, having lost both ber parents at once, in vastly different ways. It was almost poetic that her childish decisions led her down the same path of destruction her mother traveled.

As her huffs echoed around them, the horde shifted apart and their leader stepped forward, a smirk on their face at having the girl at their mercy. They lifted their arm out and in the center of their palm was a nearly black jewel - the cause of this battle. To them it was the pinnacle of all they had worked for; the bloodline of that woman would be remembered as nothing more than powerless, pathetic beings.

Unable to help it, the girl's eyes flashed red before she was able to wrestle control back. The hatred she felt was matched only by the self hatred at having not been strong enough to successfully taking the jewel from them. With a growl she took a menacing step forward, desperate to at least take this bastard out with her.

"You may have the damn thing, but you'll never be able to harness it's full power with it so tainted!"

A low chuckle drifted towards her as a dull glow shone from the bauble, the being enjoying how well she reacted to their taunts. It was almost sad they'd have to get rid of such a fun toy, but she had become more trouble than it was worth.

"Perhaps not, but I have found a new use for it. Would you like to know what that is?"

Though a shiver of apprehension raced down her spine, she refused to back down. Unfortunately she couldn't stop the tremor that caused her blade to shake, which the being before her noticed. She clenched her jaw and ignored it, bravado all she really had left; it had become obvious to her in the beginning of the battle that she was far too inexperienced to succeed here.

"I doubt very much it matters what my answer is."

"Ah, so very little fun you are! But you are correct; You see, I have quite enough power to mold this world into what I want. Or I would be able to do that, if only you would get out of my way." They motioned their minions to close ranks around the girl as they opened their hand to show a brightly glowing jewel. The despair that shone in her eyes was enough to make them shiver in pleasure as they finally revealed their plan. "And so the perfect use is this: I wish for you to be bound to this jewel for as long as it exists."

True, soul deep fear tore through her and she ran at them to try and stop the wish but was too slow. The glow became a blinding light and overtook her entirely, excruciating pain making her scream out. With a flash both her and the jewel disappeared, the echoes of her pain slowly fading away. Now that she was gone, it left the leader free to walk away, their evil laugh the last sound to be heard in the valley.

'And now to play with Japan as I wish.'
