Rey's P.O.V.
Unfortunately, this time I wasn't lucky enough to avoid Trudy, and it looked like I was going to have to talk to her in order to get into Intelligence: no Jay to come and save me from another person from my childhood.
"Rey?" Of course she remembered me. I held onto each of the boys hands to try and calm myself down. Wyatt was about to meet my dad, and I still don't know how to feel about it.
"Hi, Trudy; how are you?" Sure...act like a decade and a half hasn't passed by since the last time I've spoken to her.
"I've been good. It's nice to see you Owen, and who is this?" She looked down at Wyatt who hid behind my legs, clenching the bag of cookies that he was holding in his one hand.
"This is Wyatt. Could you let us up to Intelligence?"
"We're visiting Uncle Jay!" I'm glad it was Owen who added that, and not Wyatt. I didn't want to get anymore questioning looks from her. Thankfully she didn't ask anymore questions, and just let us up. When we get up there I scan the room to see if I could see my dad, and I don't know if I should be thankful that I couldn't see him at all.
"Uncle Jay!" Though I would definitely say that it was unfortunate for Jay that he was in eyesight of the two little boys who were at my side before they almost tackled the poor man to the floor. He definitely was caught off balanced to say the least. Everyone basically crowded around the boys who were handing out the cookies that were in the bags. I glanced over towards them one more time to see that both of the boys were safe and happy before walking towards my dad who had been at his door watching Wyatt since he had walked out of his office a couple of minutes ago because of the commotion. My dad barely even addressed me when I walked over; he was too busy looking at Wyatt.
"He's the big three today, you know." He looked over at me, and I could see the guilt that he didn't know his grandson's birthday.
"I'm sorry if I would've known I would've gotten him something." That did it; I made my mind up. It's ok for Wyatt to know him.
"Well I'm sure you'll make it up to him. Wyatt, can you come over here please?" Hank Voight actually looked at me with shock; if this wasn't such a big thing I would've laughed. Instead I decided to just smile at his facial expression before turning towards my baby boy who was looking at dad curiously. I just bent down towards Wyatt, and sent a quick glance over to Jay had everyone in a group on the other side of the room and gave him a nod. It was ok for people to know that I was Hank Voight's daughter. Besides I doubt with Wyatt knowing it wouldn't have been kept a secret.
"Hey little man, so this is Hank Voight. He's my dad which means he's your…"
"Grampa." Wyatt just whispered it so softly, but I know my dad heard it. I looked up at him to see that his eyes just locked with Wy's. I pulled my dad's hand down so that he bends down to our level.
"Hi." Was that seriously all this man could come up with? Thankfully, my sweet boy didn't see his nervousness, and just grabbed his hand before dragging him over to the rest.
"Do you want a cookie? Mommy and I made them, and they're really good. Just ask Uncle Jay and Kim." I guess he decided Kim was his aunt now. Why not?" I just sat on a desk a little bit away from them watching Wyatt and Owen play fight with Jay. My dad and Wyatt had just a small interaction Wyatt handed him a cookie, and then got distracted by Jay and Owen.
"I never would have thought you were Voight's daughter." Kim had broken away from the group a little while ago, and just sat next to me for a bit. I'd say during my time in Chicago we had become friends. Her and Nat were close so it was sort of natural.
"Oh...why's that?" She just scrunched her nose a bit, and looked at Voight and then back to me.
"You're just so nice and I can joke around with you, and Voight is so...Voight."
"You mean stone cold, can't take a joke, and rarely opens up to anyone." It doesn't matter how many years go by; it takes way more than that to get Hank Voight to change.
"I mean I wasn't going to say it. He's my boss." She just sent me a slight shrug before looking back at Jay. I smell something stirring.
"I bet it doesn't help that Jay's so good with Wyatt and Owen." The three were still rough housing in the middle of the bullpen.
"What? I don't know what you're talking about."
"Sure Kim...sure."
A couple hours later
"Oh and Will when you talk to Jay next bring up Kim. I want to see how he reacts." What? I wasn't kidding I do still have my sneaky Voightness when I need it. I just normally use it for normal, legal, things that don't usually cause anyone pain.
