Chapter 14
The mission was not going well. When they got to Bialya, Robin activated the tracker that Arrow had been given and they found him pretty quickly. The only thing was, he was angry and he still knew how to shoot his bow. He also knew all of their weaknesses, which was great because although they were trying not to hurt him, he had no such qualms.
Perfect.
Right now, Miss Martian and Aqualad had passed out from heat exhaustion, Kid Flash was trying, and failing, to vibrate his molecules out of a net and Artemis had gotten knocked out with a large bruise on her forehead, so Superboy and Robin were trying to distract the angry archer, while Raven tried to sneak up behind him and heal his mind.
Rachel slowly flew up behind him and put her hands to him temple before shouting the healing mantra.
"Mother Azarath give me strength!" Suddenly, images flashed though her mind, some of Red Arrow's forgotten memories. Faces and places flashed by, to quick to process and Raven felt his mind click. She removed her hands from his head and he looked around, blinking in surprise. He then shook his head and his face morphed into a stoic scowl.
He nodded to Rachel stiffly, then helped Robin up.

"Sorry for all of that." Arrow said, sheepishly. They were now sitting in the BioShip. M'gann and Artemis had recovered but Aqualad was still out cold, and Raven was trying to wake him up while Miss Martian flew them home.
"Nah, it's OK RoyBoy, I'm just surprised you managed to beat us all." Kid Flash said with a cheeky grin. Arrow gave him a playful sneer before turning to Raven.
"I don't think I would've beaten you all. I still don't know the limits of your powers, so I think you could probably get the best of me." He admitted, before touching the side of his head, closing his eyes and frowning.
"You OK there Red?" Robin asked, the eyes of his mask narrowing. Arrow winced before opening his eyes again and blinking a bit.
"Y-yeah, probably just some backlash from when Psimon brain-blasted me." Again, Raven could tell that he was lying but again, she decided not to ask him what was really wrong. Could be private.
Arrow was saved from answering any more questions by Aqualad, who sat up and gasped.
"Easy Kaldur, it's OK." She said, calming him down with her empathy powers. He sighed and scanned the room, his eyes falling on the ginger archer. Red Arrow apologised and Kaldur smiled, saying that it was alright.
When they got back to the mountain, Robin contacted Batman, telling them that the mission was a success, and the dynamic duo talked while the rest of the team, including Red Arrow, went to get showers and change into civvies.

Roy had just pulled his red sweatshirt on from the room he used if he stayed at the mountain when the searing pain in his head came back, along with the images. A devil of some kind with dark red skin and glowing yellow eyes grinning at him, the team laying dead at his feet while it laughed.
Roy gasped and bent over, planting his hands of on the bed he rarely used, panting. He decided that he had to see Rachel, because he knew that those images came from her mind.
Once he had recovered from the shock, he left his room to go into the kitchen. M'gann, Kaldur and Wally were there, baking, reading and watching a video respectively. Roy assumed that Conner was in the gym as usual and he had heard Artemis in the shower.
"Hey, does anyone know where Rachel is?" he asked. M'gann frowned.
"No… actually, now that I come to think of it, she disappears most evenings before dinner. I wonder where she is." She said worriedly. The others began to think as Robin walked into the room, having just changed into civvies, and he noticed Roy's expression.
"Penny for your thoughts?" he asked with a raised eyebrow. Roy flinched, Robin had subconsciously blended into the shadows, doing the creepy ninja thing.
"Uh yeah. Do you know where Rachel goes all the time?" he asked. If anyone would know, he assumed it would be Rob, Rob knows everything.
"Oh yeah, she goes outside the mountain. She takes her spell book with her so I assume she's practicing magic." Roy nodded and headed off to see if he could find her.
And find her he did.
When he did, Roy was a little creeped out. The mountain was just as huge from the outside so he wandered around for a while until he heard some muttering, and thin lines of smoke coming above the trees. He walked towards it, and the muttering got louder until he could clearly hear what she was saying.
Finally, as he weaved through two massive oaks, Roy saw her. She was in civvies, a dark purple, knee length dress with a black leather jacket, and she was in a meditation pose, floating an inch off the ground with a drawing of a star beneath her, purple flames licking at the lines. Incense sticks were lit and they burned a bright purple too. Her eyes were closed, but she addressed him, stopping the meditation.
"Hey Roy, what do you need?" she asked calmly.
"Uhh... I-uh." He stumbled over his words. Rachel smiled slightly and opened her violet eyes. She cocked her head slightly, still hovering, and made a 'go on' gesture with her hand. He took a deep breath.
"When you healed my mind, you saw a few of my memories. I know this because I saw a few of yours too. I got a searing pain in my head and this image of a man with red skin and yellow eyes, laughing." He swallowed, knowing he wasn't going to like the answer to his question. "Who is he?
Rachel's expression had gone from happy and calm, to guarded and vigilant. She sighed before rising and standing up. She was looking down slightly and she seemed ashamed.
"He's- he's someone from my past. But what you saw was just a dream. Nothing more." She sounded as if she was trying to convince herself as well as him. She looked up and stepped towards him. Her eyes began to glow white as they did when she performed a spell. Then it was gone.
"There. You shouldn't get whiplash from my memories, and I also erased my memories of your memories, in case I saw something personal." She smiled slightly.
"Now do you mind leaving so I can finish?" Roy swallowed thickly and nodded. Then he left without saying a word. When he got further away, he heard the chanting again, and then he really listened to what she was saying:
"Azarath Metrion Xynthos. Mother Azarath, please protect my brothers and sisters, and give me strength to face the dark force I fear is coming. Azarath Metrion Xynthos."
He shivered as he entered the mountain again.
Not much scared Roy Harper but Rachel, Rachel definitely did.
