Chapter 17

Artemis whipped up her hair when she saw Robin's shadow on the floor.

"Rob!" she exclaimed "I don't know what happened! One minute she was sparring with me, then she clutched her head and screamed like she was in pain. Then she just collapsed. Can you help me get her to the Medical Bay?" The Boy Wonder nodded and the two lifted her all the way to the Med Bay.

Once there, they placed Rachel on the closest gurney and Robin was about to hook her up to see what was wrong with her, when a small groan escaped her lips.

"Rache?" he asked softly. She hummed in reply, opening her eyes groggily. Robin breathed a sigh of relief smiled down at her.

"What happened?" she slurred.

"We don't actually know. You just clutched your head, screaming. Then you passed out." Artemis said gently. Rache snorted, "Fainting like a damsel in distress? Great." She said with extreme sarcasm.

When Kaldur asked her what she remembered, she frowned and chewed her lip.

"I remember someone… calling for help. Like a distress signal but… not heard, more felt. And this ear-splitting screech, way more than 70 decibels." Robin's eyes went wide. He looked at Wally, who looked as shocked as he felt.

"Uh Rache?" Wally asked. Rache looked to him as he swallowed. "I think… I think you and that crystal are kinda connected." Rache raised an eyebrow as a gesture for him to continue.

"See, me and Rob were experimenting on the Crystal of Azambath or whatever, and we did a test to see if it could stand through 100 decibels… then 150, and that's when Rob heard you screaming." Rache nodded slowly and sat up, crossing her legs into a ball.

"This whole thing just keeps getting weirder and weirder." She sighed, "I think I'm all good now, but maybe we put the crystal somewhere safe?" She looked to Kaldur, who nodded.

"I think it would be wise for you to keep it Rachel." He said, "That way, you can keep an eye on it at all times." She nodded and slipped off the bed, stumbling slightly. Robin put a hand on her shoulder and she smiled that beautiful smile he loved so much.

The two left together, and once they had, the team launched into an ongoing debate of whether they were dating or not yet. Bets were placed on how long it would take.
