Phantom Spirit
Chapter 14: Pitch Was Busy..
"What?"
Danny stood from his spot on the floor. "How long have you guys had nightmares?" he asked.
They all looked at each other. "A week or so," Sam answered. "Why?"
"Crap..." Jack mumbled. "If this has been going on for a week..."
"The Guardians." The two spirits looked at each other. Baby Tooth was perched on Jack's shoulder, worry in her eyes.
"We should go," Danny said, walking to Jack's side.
"At least take a Fenton Phone!" Tucker pulled an extra from his backpack. "We still have the one you used. Ya know, for emergencies."
The raven haired teen smiled and took the earpiece from his friend. "You guys get some sleep. Alert me if you see something that looks like a purplish black horse."
"Or wolf," Jack added. "They're nightmares and not good news."
Jazz crossed her arms. "Obviously. Just the name gives that away."
"Do they look anything like that?" Tucker gestured to Shadow.
The Phantom of Halloween shrugged. "They look more threatening."
"THAT'S not THREATENING?!"
Shadow looked towards the geek and bared his teeth, growling softly. Danny smiled. "They can be if you insult them." His smile increased at the thought of Halloween. "Even ask Dash!"
His gaze flicking between his friend and the coyote, Tucker smiled warily. "You look amazing! Absolutely stunning!" He looked at his bare wrist. "Oh gosh! Look at the time! I'm gonna go now! BYE!"
The group watched as the geek ran out of the park. Smiling, Danny looked to Shadow. "Bring him home."
The coyote gladly turned to mist and snaked quickly out of the park. Looking at the girls, he asked, "You want a ride? I'm sure I could get someone."
A girly scream echoed through the town. The two spirits smirked and gave a small high five. The girls shook their heads to answer his question.
"I think I'm fine walking..." Jazz commented, the other two nodding.
Chuckling, Danny started to back up. "I'll come back. I promise."
X.X.X.X.X
The two spirits flew through the air, side by side, with Star on Danny and Baby Tooth on Jack. The fact that Baby refused to fly herself scared the two into going faster.
Jack coughed lightly. "So, uh... Girlfriend?"
Danny blushed. "Uh..."
The winter spirit smirked. "No need to get embarrassed by me, Senior Tomato. Just curious."
"Shut up..."
Jack looked at his friend, but his smile fell. Danny looked in thought, worried even. "Hey, you okay?"
The teen sighed. "Just..." His green gaze turned to Jack. "How would this work now? Sam and I?"
Flipping on his back, the older spirit furrowed his eyebrows. "What do you mean?"
He gave the blue eyed boy a "You're Kidding, Right?" stare. "Immortal and a mortal? Highly doubt that would work out."
"Oh..." The Guardian of Fun racked his mind for something to say, but couldn't think of anything. He gripped his staff hard in frustration. Turning back so his stomach faced the snowy ground, he continued to fly north.
Santoff Clausen peaked over the horizon. He sighed and turned to Danny. "Let's not stress about that now. I hate to say it, but we have worse problems..."
Nodding, his friend sped in front of him. They both jumped through the window, Jack bringing a chill to the air around them. For once since he became a spirit, Danny knew why this didn't bother him.
"North?" Jack walked out of the living room area, avoiding the still lit fireplace, and stepped into the Glob Room. "Tooth? Bunny? Someone?"
His voice echoed through the building, not a noise to be heard. No elves, no yetis, not even flying toys. That's what worried the two the most.
It was the end of October. Two months from the end of December. Two months from Christmas.
Danny inwardly laughed at the thought considering he used to be the Scrooge of that holiday.
The younger spirit sent a glance to the skylight, and back to Jack. His eyes widened, and flew to the glob.
"Uh... Jack...?"
The teen turned. "What? Kinda busy!"
Danny pointed to the metal model of the Earth. "I'm pretty sure the last time I was here there was a lot of little yellow lights."
Gasping, Jack's blue eyes shot to where he was pointing. No lights what so ever. Jumping on the glob, he frantically looked around. He didn't know what happened if the lights all went out. And he didn't want to find out.
A sigh escaped his mouth when he saw North America. There were still eight lights. Five grouped in one area, and three in another near it. "It's okay!" he called. "Your friends and the Burgess group are still up here."
"So nine?"
"Eight."
Danny thought for a second, than nodded. "Probably Danielle. She's half ghost and could see us no matter what."
"True." Jack hopped off to continue the search.
"Jack!"
The spirit blinked. He could have sworn that was his sister, Emma. "You hear that?" he asked Danny.
"Yeah... Sounds like Tooth."
He nodded, deciding that made better sense. There was some scrambling behind them, causing them to turn.
"Jack!" Tooth stumbled over, almost tripping if Jack hadn't caught her.
"Tooth! What happened?"
The fairy stood shakily and pushed her feathers down, a few coming off in the process. "We were all so worried! I thought Danny had-"
Her violet eyes caught sight of the uncomfortable Halloween spirit behind Jack. Confused, she looked at the boy in front of her.
"I took him to see his memories." He gestured to Baby Tooth on his shoulder as proof.
Her face lit with realization. "Oh! I-I'm sorry! I just-"
"It's okay." Danny smiled lightly. "Now again, what happened?"
Tooth's head feathers fluffed. "Right! While you were gone, Pitch came to the pole. I don't know how he did it, some kind of spell I think, but he turned the yetis against us. We tried to reason, but nothing worked! We ended up barricading ourselves in North's Office until they left." Her shoulders slumped. "Pitch must have been at work during that time because we lost most of our power. Even Sandy!"
Jack stared in shock before his face hardened. "Lead the way."
The workshop was a mess. Paint was spattered on the wall, toys, whether broken or whole, were spread on the ground, even little bells covered the floor. Most likely from elves. Danny sadly picked up a doll from the floor, the arm ripped off and stuffing hanging from it. He sighed and set it on the nearest table.
Tooth opened a door near the end of the room and walked in. Jack came in after with Danny following. Jack, having seen this before, only walked in farther. Danny on the other hand, was both saddened, and trying not to laugh.
Sandy sat in a chair in the corner of the room. He wasn't as sparkly as the last time they met. He almost looked human.
North sat in his desk chair, sabers beside him and head in hands. He looked older than last time, more frail.
It was the little, gray mound of fur in the middle of the room that Danny had to keep himself from laughing about. Bunny scowled and looked up at him.
"Shut up, ya show pony..."
A hand flew up to the Halloween spirit's mouth. "I-I'm sorry," he managed to say. "Your tough guy voice just doesn't fit your body right now!"
Jack smirked. "Think that's bad?" Bending down, he scratched the rabbit beside his ear. All tension left the furry face as Bunny leaned into the touch, his foot thumping.
Shaking his head, tiny paws patted his pale hand away. "Rack off, Frostbite!" Huffing, he glared at the Reaper like teen. "Why's he here anyway? Didn't he kidnap ya?"
Jack flicked his ear, earning a yelp from the bunny. "I went to show him his memories. You should show respect to the dead!" Looking at Danny, he smiled. "Especially a dead hero."
The teen rolled his eyes. "It's not like I was the best hero in the world. There's probably someone better than Danny Phantom."
"PFF!" Bunny sat on his back feet. "Him? A hero? This clown?!"
Jack looked at him with a "Really?" expression. "Remember the Disastroid?"
North sat up. "What?"
The teens smirked. "So you do," Jack continued. "You know who saved us?"
Silence.
Danny stuck his hand out as if asking for a hand shake. "Hi, Danny Phantom, world savior, Ghost Boy. Heck!" The teen threw his hands in the air. "They even called me Inviso-Bill!"
"And you didn't remember any of this?" Tooth asked, stepping towards him.
He shrugged. "Like Jack here, I died!" Jack slid his hand across his neck multiple times to try and get Danny's attention, but the teen ignored him.
"Really, there's still gaps in my memory," he continued. "Like, the small things. I remember the main stuff. Like being a Halfa, my friends, family, not liking Christmas for a while, not having too much fun on Easter, a horrible experience on Halloween..." He shivered. "Do I continue?"
The Guardians stared at him.
"You didn't have fun on Easter?!" Bunny shouted.
"Didn't like Christmas?!" North yelled after the rabbit.
"What do you mean you too died?!" Tooth added, giving a stern glare at Jack who flinched. Baby Tooth tweeted lightly and rolled her eyes, almost unnoticeable on Jack's shoulder.
"I'd love to explain!" the winter spirit said lightly. "But we have bigger problems right now!"
"What could be bigger than my Sweet Tooth dying?!"
"Danny! Come in!"
The Halloween spirit's hand flung to his Fenton Phone, trying to block out the conversation around him. "Yeah, Tuck?"
"I saw a black horse near the window just now. Just makin sure you know."
"He told you to tell him, Tucker..." Sam's voice came through.
"Shut up! I knew that! That's why I told him..."
"I'm still sleeping! Can't you talk lighter! Can hear you talking and my Fenton Phone is on my dresser!"
"Sorry Jazz..."
He rolled his eyes. "Thank you, Tucker. Sorry to wake you Jazz. We'll be there soon."
"Who are you talking to?" He looked back to the others, Tooth's head tilted to the side.
"Did they see something?" Jack asked, standing up.
"Tuck said there was a NightMare by his window."
"Then let's go!" The winter spirit started to the door, but realized no one was following. "Well?"
"The reindeer ran away and the yetis used the globes to run away..." North said sadly, his head back on his hand.
Looking around at the grounded spirits, the teen sighed. He paced. "We have to go! Pitch is probably in Amity. Who knows what he'd do to your friends because you denied him, Danny!"
Star yawned and sat up in Danny's hood. Tooth awed at the cute sight, but it dropped as the puppy flopped down with a whine.
The Reaper like teen sighed and scratched the wolf's head. "He's still upset about Midnight..."
"THATS IT!"
The pup jumped at Jack's outburst, landing in Danny's arms. Star sent a glare to the spirit, but Jack didn't notice.
"DANNY! They can ride your Shadow Animals!"
Danny blinked, then smirked. "Fine by me!"
He whistled in a light tune and waited. In a few seconds, two masses of mist seeped through the window. A bear formed under North, lifting him off the chair. Stallion appeared under Tooth, lifting her with a small yelp.
He looked around and frowned. Hunter didn't show up...
The Halloween spirit sighed, not having time for this, and called for the next best thing.
Another cluster of black mist snaked towards Sandy and made a small tiger. It was a younger feline, still having some of it's kitten fluff. Sandy clapped and held on to the fur.
"Oi!" Bunny spoke up. "What bout me?"
Smoke rose behind him, unknowing to the bunny. Nightbound formed behind the rabbit. He picked Bunny up by his scruff and stuck him in his pouch. The kangaroo hopped up with happiness, annoying the little rabbit.
"I'M A BUNNY!" he shouted, eats flat on his head. The others laughed as he grumbled angrily.
"Anyway!" Danny started, looking up at the Guardians. "North, that's Luna. Tooth, that is Stallion. Sandy, Warrior. And Bunny, you know Nightbound."
"Mind if I ride something?" Jack asked.
"Fine. But you get something as annoying, sneaky, and skinny as you." Danny smiled, sticking his tongue at the spirit, Jack doing the same.
Pepper walked through the door, not wanting to make a big entrance. Walking up to Jack, she blinked and flicked her head to her back.
"What about my staff?"
Shadow walked in after the fox. Danny gestured to the coyote. "Either you hold it, or Shadow can." The canine snapped his teeth, showing the sharpness and strength of his grip.
Blinking, Jack gripped the Shepard's crook tighter. "I think I can hold it..."
"Then let's go!"
This chap is more funny and transition-y than a regular one. But that's better than nothing! :3
