Chapter 3
SO I'M GOING THROUGH THE EPISODES STARTING AT SEASON 13 WHEN AMANDA ROLLINS JOINS THE CAST. AMANDA AND OLIVIA WILL BE TOGETHER, SO THAT MEANS I HAVE TO CHANGE SOME OF THE EPISODES ANYWAY. I WILL GO THROUGH THE EPISODES BY MENTIONING SOME AND FOCUSING ON MY FAVORITES. I WILL CHANGE SOME DETAILS TO MAKE IT THE WAY I WANT IT TO GO.
SEASON 13 MENTIONS: MISSING PIECES, TRUE BELIEVERS, RUSSIAN BRIDES, EDUCATED GUESS(USED THIS TO BUILD THE STORY). I SKIPPED EPISODES 9-12. THE REST IS FROM FATHER'S SHADOW AND HOME INVASIONS.
Months went by and the squad was slammed with case after case. Fin and Amanda worked together on a case of a missing baby. While Nick and Olivia worked together on a case of a music student who was forced and raped in her apartment. They were all forced to work together as a team when they were forced to deal with a murder of a young girl. It turned out the Russian Mafia was involved. Captain Cragen even needed to take the lead as commanding officer. He was the one that went undercover.
Olivia had been helping Amanda with shopping and her apartment was starting to feel like home. Sometimes the squad hung out after work, sometimes they went for a drink, and sometimes they had dinner together. Amanda was hiding things, she had slipped back into her bad habits. It was the time alone and the sleepless nights that caused Amanda to find trouble. She was gambling and not small time, but big time. She was too close to Atlantic City and even found some illegal underground clubs. She was reckless and undisciplined, always had been. The biggest problem though was this wasn't Atlanta, she got behind and owed big money. The more she tried to stay away, the more it sucked her in.
With Saturday off, she called Fin. Things had settled down in the squad, since Olivia was now Sergeant Benson she was often paired with Nick and Munch rotated in with Nick when necessary, but Fin and Amanda were partners. "Fin, thanks for meeting me, I just needed to get out." Amanda needed to tell someone what was going on and she trusted Fin the most. Olivia was great too, but she was like her boss now with her promotion. Amanda was scared to tell her she was in trouble. She didn't want her to be disappointed in her.
As her and Fin were walking he asked first, "What's up Amanda? You've been off lately, coming in late, calling in, a little cold." Amanda hung her head, if he was noticing, she was sure others were, "Yeah I just…" as they were walking through Central Park and Amanda was about to come clean, a young man came running by them, stripping his clothes off. "Come here you silly bitch, I'm gonna give you something!" He ripped off his boxers and exposed himself to everyone in the park, before passing out and having a seizure.
Fin and Amanda sprung into action, calling for help. They followed the suspect to the hospital and Amanda's problems were pushed to the back burner. When they left the young man in the mental ward and went to fill out paperwork. The entire thing turned into a case, when that young man saw a rape take place. Nick and Olivia were able to solve the case. The woman was a patient in the mental hospital and not only did the security guard rape her, but they found out she had years of sexual abuse from her uncle, which caused the break.
After that they were slammed with case after case. Amanda was spiraling down faster, she still hadn't told Fin the truth. One case pushed her completely over the top. Olivia was actually held hostage at gunpoint by a teenage boy. His father was accused of rape and in jail. The kid was actually being brainwashed, which led him to try and get his father out of jail. Seeing Olivia being out in that situation, scared Amanda to death. Amanda started having feelings for Olivia and she knew she couldn't tell her the truth. It was confusing since Amanda was straight and she knew Olivia was as well.
Olivia had her own secret, that Amanda found out the hard way. Amanda had always dated men, matter of fact she was having plenty of one night stands. When Olivia was free from the hostage situation, Amanda found ADA David Haden kissing her. That was totally against the rules. Amanda was jealous and she thought if Olivia could break the rules so could she. She left that night to gamble in the underground club and she lost big.
The next case would bring Rollins crashing down big time. Ever since Amanda saw Olivia kissing Haden, she hadn't really spent time with her. Olivia tried to talk to her, but Amanda always had an excuse. Olivia saw Fin grabbing some coffee, "Fin is Amanda ok?" Fin took a sip and offered her a cup, "You noticed too huh?" They sat down, "First I thought maybe she was uneasy because I'm a Sergeant now. I was trying to think if I did something wrong, but I haven't. It's almost like she stopped talking to me." Fin nodded, "Something's up and I have a feeling it isn't good."
Olivia had the same feeling, as they entered the squad room, Nick and Amanda were grabbing their coats. Olivia didn't think Nick was Amanda's type at all. She tried to find a way in, "Hey! Am I invited?" Amanda smiled, she missed Olivia, and she didn't like Haden at all, but the truth was, she knew Olivia would find out the truth if she spent too much time with her. "Sure anyone else up for dinner." Fin and Olivia were about to join them, when Cragen came out, "Dinner's on hold guys. There was a shooting and two people are dead." Amanda was puzzled, "Cap why us for a shooting." He looked at his team, "The shooting took place at the home of Joan Eckhouse, Chief Counsel for the New York Gay Right Coalition. I need all hands on deck."
They all headed to the scene, Olivia and Nick headed inside the home, while Fin and Amanda spoke to a father and son outside who were clearly upset. A gunman stormed in killing the parents and left the daughter in critical condition. Olivia and Nick took notes of the scene and even noticed the word "queer" spray painted on the wall.
They looked into everything, turns out the hate crime was a dead end. They even investigated the husband who was killed, because it turned out he had gambling debts and owed big. That was even a dead end, Fin was talking to Amanda about the bookie in an interrogation with Olivia and Nick, "Another dead end. We've got nothing."
Cragen then sent Olivia and Nick out to trace some missing jewelry, hoping they would get a turn in the case. Fin was looking at the files, and just as he questioned her about the daughter's boyfriend, the bookie name Murphy walked through with his lawyer. Amanda froze dead in her tracks, making eye contact with him. He glared back and smirked, Fin caught it all, "What's that about." Amanda being the charmer, even though she knew she was in deep trouble, "Jealous Fin?"
Amanda needed help and now. Getting nowhere with the case, they all called it a night, it would be there in the morning. Amanda stopped to gas up her truck, Murphy and a corrupt officer followed her. He came up behind her and punched her hard in the stomach, the officer helped her up, all the while making threats on the amount of money she owed and the fact she was a cop, "I hope you aren't so dumb to tell your Captain, if you are, you won't see us coming." He punched her hard again this time in the ribs. It took Amanda several minutes to get herself together.
She parked her truck and called Fin to meet her at a bar. She told him everything about back home and how the gambling started, "Fin it was one of the reasons I had to leave Atlanta." Fin squinted, "One so there's more?" She rolled her eyes, "One thing at a time. Since I've been here, I've been out of control. I lost big and was actually down 50 grand, I've cut my debts to 20. He didn't know I was a cop, I told Murphy I was a bartender. He hit me and threatened me." Fin looked, "Wait are you hurt Amanda?" She threw back a shot, knowing she was in pain and her stomach and ribs were burning, "I'm fine Fin." Fin narrowed his eyes at her, "You know we have to tell the Cap. I'm gonna help you ok?"
Fin went to get Nick, they headed to the bookie joint where Murphy was to show him what happens when you mess with one of theirs. It actually turned out that everything was a dead end because the daughter planned the entire thing. She was being raped by her father and her mother knew and didn't do anything to help her. It was a sad end for a lost teenage girl.
Amanda had her own problems, she had to face Captain Cragen. She knocked on his door, finding him sitting at his desk, "Excuse Captain, I've been waiting to talk to you, but the case…" Cragen stood up, "Your bookie already ratted you out. He thought having dirt on a detective would help him. I've already called IAB. They want to see you immediately."
Tears fell from Amanda's eyes, she couldn't believe how far she had fallen in such a short time, "Have they ever asked you for favors, anything? Is it just the gambling?" Amanda looked up, "I swear Captain, I haven't." He sat on his desk, "You're lucky then, they would have eventually. And you would have. You know Amanda I used to drink, I mean really drink. All the time, even on the job and someone helped me, so if you are telling me it's only gambling and I won't find anything else. I'm going to bat for you."
Amanda wiped the falling tears, "I should take your gun and shield, but I won't. Whatever this is you need to get a hold on it. I'm taking 10 vacation days, you are going to a gambler's anonymous meeting, and from this point on Olivia will deal with you directly, not me." Amanda's head swung up, "Captain what does that mean?"
He stood up, "Exactly what I said, she will deal with you. She is my Sergeant and she will be given more and more responsibility. Amanda I'm not going to be around much longer and as much as you are trying to hide this, Olivia will get to the bottom of it. You can't hide from her, I know reckless behavior when I see it and so will she. Drinking, gambling, or any bad habit like that, there is always an underlying issue. So I'll let her deal with you, she can report to me if necessary."
Amanda wasn't sure how this would turn out. "Be ready to have a conversation with her. You either agree to that and agree to do everything she says or you're done." Tears fell, Amanda wanted this so much, it was her life. "Yes Sir." Just then Nick and Olivia knocked and Amanda wiped her tears and turned her head. Olivia was concerned, but they were there to inform the Captain that they needed to arrest the teenager in the case. "Rollins are done here?" She shook her head and left for IAB, "Yes Sir."
