*Trigger warning for sexual violence at the star to chapter 3 there will be a resumé without the triggers*

After dinner, her new boss asked her to call him by his name as he locked their arms in order to see the house.

"This manor it's what's left of the Hatra Family. The war took everything, Enyd. My nephews all died. They should have brought honor to this land, but they ended up defending some mortals".

Those were the first unkind words she had heard of him but decided to say nothing.

"I will not ask you to agree with me, kid. I know you are a mixture of both species, but when I see the scar in your shoulder. I don't think you'll be encouraged to defend them" she said nothing still, remembering all the torture along the way almost 50 years prior. "That's what I thought. Scars made by ash arrows can heal, but will always leave a mark".

"There's no place for those who are like me to fit in" she said "the wall has been gone for over a 100 years yet still no side seams at peace with the other, just waiting for something bad to happen. The ones like me are always left in between to suffer the consequences of prejudice".

"I will tell you something. As long as you are in this house your mortal side will not make a difference, even if there´s just a drop of fae blood in your veins, it's not worth losing" Enyd smiled in answer and they stopped at the room she was supposed to share with Lynette.

"I hope for you to stay with us for a long time, Enyd".

She didnt like the way he said her name or how he would grab her arm almost too firm. Maybe it was her mind playing games with her, his attitude had been polite and kind.

The room was small, like every other servant room she had. Pink walls, two beds. There were no drawings, nothing that could make it feel less empty.

Lynette followed her into the room, not looking at her directly and taking the bed further from the door. So she assumed the remaining one was hers, she took out the few garments she had and placed them in the wardrobe. Enyd left her white rose on the table beside her bed.

Of all the time that it had been with her it had never been so opaque, still beautiful; the magic that kept it alive must be of the Spring Court and now, a few miles away from it seemed to affect it.

The other girl stared in awe at the rose, but said nothing. She blew her candle off and fell asleep.

The day after she woke up before sunrise to make breakfast. Another note explained the week´s menu. Occupied between fire and fruits she finished.

"Breakfast is served in the garden" Lynette said. So she followed her to a small table in the backyard.

The garden had no flowers in it, different from all the ones she had seen her life in Spring. Here there was just green grass that met rocky mountains, behind them she could hear the sea and the breeze.

"There´s nothing else a male could ask for"exclaimed Mr. Lin "to have such graceful ladies serving him". Enyd forced herself to smile.

"Good day my Lord" she made a small bow before going into the house once more. Looking back she thought Lynette wanted to tell her something but the butler cut her off. He asked her companion to go inside and show her the way to the local market to buy all the necessary things.

Even when the tone of the butler was not the most amiable, she saw Lynette smile lightly.

The market was loud and colorful, with few children running down the streets. Here the shy servant was acknowledged by all and answered with a smile, she talked and asked for other ladies who were not in attendance, like she was used to crowds. It was hard to associate her with the being she was in the house at the end of the street.

She ignored her so Enyd excused herself to go and buy some herbs and spices at the other side of the street and get some flowers to give a little life to her room.

Maybe the other girl didn't like her, some people were like that. For some reason she couldn't get off her mind the servant´s gentle smile and a knot started to form in her throat, she wanted to be liked by that stranger.

As they walked back to the house Lynette´s face changed, back to the small creature that she met the day before.

The rest of the week was the same. A beautiful routine fell. Until Sunday came. She accompanied the other girl to the bakery, where she met one of her friends, Alis. The fresh backed smell hit her, calming her senses with a warm feeling while she heard at the distance the two friends whispering.

Her ears weren't as good a High Fae, but if she concentrated she could hear them.

"You shouldn't come back, not tonight" said the lady.

"I have no other place to go and I will never risk taking advantage of our friendship, he can be dangerous".

Enyd could not bring herself to ask about it or the reason she seemed so gray. Her mind wandered through the worst situations.

*Trigger alert*

Night fell and Lynette had yet not entered the room. At three o'clock her bed was still empty, so she braced herself and went into the corridors with nothing but a candle in her hand.

The kitchen, the drawing room and the backyard were empty. She started to go upstairs, the more she approached the bedchambers she heard someone cry in pain. Enyd knew exactly what she was about to face, it was nothing new to young servants, unfortunately. She must have known, perhaps she hoped it was not true.

She left the candle at a table in the corridor. She took a heavy candelabrum. As soon as she opened the door the sight pained her, the screams and pleads, the horror in the girls voice.

Filled with rage she took the candelabrum and hit the Lord in the back of his head, so hard that she couldn't grasp it properly.

Furious Lin turned to her and tried to choke her.

"I was going to let you rest for a week filthy creature. But you like to play hard, let's play then" and started to rip her nightdress. She tried to escape, to run and scream for help.

Lynette stayed in the bed, crying, never meeting her gaze. She understood her silence and something started to burn inside her veins, a power she had hoped to never come back. Fire spreading in her hands, rage that could not be tamed. Flames started to consume the male before her, who pleaded for help.

The servant runned away and Enyd stood in the room, a slight sense of pride filled her. Then she ran out and locked the room.

Once more she had to flee, before the fire was noticed and with it the body. She had killed someone, a minor Lord, still one of rank and the ways to settle such debts in the Summer Court were cruel the least.
