Chapter 14
END OF SEASON 14. EPISODE 24 HER NEGOTIATION. FYI I HATE WILLIAM LEWIS.
Amanda woke up first, leaving Olivia to continue sleeping. She made breakfast and brought it to her in bed. She kissed Olivia on the lips, "Good morning." Liv smiled, "No fair you have minty fresh breath." They enjoyed breakfast in bed. "Can we spend the day in Central Park?" Olivia rolled her eyes, "Amanda you love the park, it's every Sunday. When are we going to do something else?" Amanda kissed her and smiled, "Maybe next Sunday." They both got ready.
While at the park they ran into Nick. He was with his daughter Zara, son Gil, and Gil's mother, Cynthia. Nick and his wife split and things between him and Cynthia were good. They were playing baseball as a family. Amanda watched the smile on Liv's face. "Liv, do you want kids?" She looked at Amanda, "If I say yes, will you run?" Amanda shook her head, "No, I won't run, we should talk about it though. I mean I'm kid number 1." They both laughed, agreed, and continued enjoying the day.
Gil hit a ball and it got away from Zara, two young women who were walking by, threw her the ball. "I got it!" After a few moments, the two women ran screaming in a foreign language with a man running after them. Nick, Olivia, and Amanda all chased after him, "Stop! Police!" The man stops and holds his hands up, "Problem officers?" They all look at him, unsure of what to make of the entire situation.
They all headed to SVU to find out the full story. The two women were tourists but after speaking with an older woman named Ms. Parker, they decided it was best to bring them in. Ms. Parker was in the park taking photos and claimed that the man should be prosecuted. Olivia placed the two girls in an interview room. Nick placed the suspect in holding and asked an officer to book him. Amanda placed Ms. Parker in Cragen's office. Amanda called everyone else in on their day off. She felt something wasn't right.
Amanda began explaining everything to Cragen, Barba, Munch, and Fin who were all upset to be pulled in. Olivia and Nick backed her up. "The suspect goes by William Lewis, burned off fingertips. He doesn't want anyone to know who he is." They all agreed to deal with it now. Cragen spoke with Ms. Parker while Olivia and Nick interrogated Lewis. Fin, Amanda, Munch, and Barba watched on.
Olivia went after Lewis hard, "Do you always go running in jeans and boots?" Olivia had a smirk on her face and he responded, "I'm in between work, so I don't have money for a running outfit. I don't think I deserve this attitude from you, detective." Olivia smirked again, "That's Sergeant." While watching the interview Rollins explained they have a New York ID and he is living in a halfway house. Lewis eventually asked for a lawyer, after stringing them along giving them nothing. Olivia and Nick joined the squad outside, "Wow this guy is a real piece of work. Good job Amanda." Cragen joined them saying Ms. Parker heard something, "She didn't want to say it out loud, so she wrote it down. Barba read the paper out loud "Get down on your knees, open your mouth and take communion."
The next day at arraignment, Barba offered a deal of community service and time served if he pleads guilty. Lewis says, "I can't plead guilty to something I didn't do." The move on for trial and ask for bail. Barba speaks up, "Remand Judge. This man has no job or ties to the community." Lewis's lawyer says, "Moments ago, he was willing to let him walk out of here. The judge agrees, releasing Lewis, leaving the squad in shock. Once leaving they talk about evidence left, Barba says, "Keep digging. We need something more."
Later on while the squad worked tirelessly trying to find something, Cragen went to Ms. Parker's apartment to return her camera. She opened the door only leaving it cracked. Cragen thought it's odd but didn't want to disturb her, "Thank you! We got what we needed. We may need you to testify." Ms. Parker rushed to shut the door, William Lewis was there the entire time holding her at gunpoint. He pointed the gun, "Get back in bed and take off your robe."
The squad was notified when Ms. Parker was missing. Olivia and Nick rushed to the apartment and found her naked, hurt, and bleeding. They called for an ambulance and rushed her to the hospital. She was burned, raped, and tortured. Cragen says, "Find him! He won't get away with this." Nick and Olivia go to pick him up, while Fin and Amanda look at the halfway house.
Nick and Olivia picked him up and got him back to SVU. The second interrogation began . They went harder than the first time, but Lewis strings them along again. He explained in graphic detail what could have happened to the older woman. Olivia felt sick to her stomach. Once his lawyer arrived, they realized he played them again.
As days go by, pieces come together and they realize William Lewis has a long criminal record, but has gotten lucky. He has a long history of abducting and raping. Fin enters, "More bad news guys, Lewis is on suicide watch." Cragen shakes his head, "He won't get away this time. Start prepping Ms. Parker for trial immediately. Olivia and Nick head to her apartment and find her on the sofa, dead. Melinda Warner explains, "It's a heart attack." Olivia is so upset, "Yeah because of the stress she was under after Lewis tortured her." Melinda looks apologetic, "I'm sorry, but I can only rule what caused this."
The trial started and everyone that knew anything took the stand against William Lewis. Nothing went their way and the DNA was inadmissible. The judge declared a mistrial and William Lewis was again out on bail. Fin says, "Who wants to shoot the son of a bitch?" Cragen calms them down. "Olivia and Amanda take two days. I don't want to see you back." Cragen knew the case was hard on both of them and because they went home together, he knew that's all they talked about.
Nick, Munch, and Fin all went out for a drink, while Olivia and Amanda headed home. "Liv you go up and shower, I'm going to get us a pizza. We can stuff our faces and watch a movie. She kissed her and watched her go into the building. Amanda only got a block down and she saw something that made her stop dead in her tracks. A can of "Five Crazy". It was the same drink Lewis had at the halfway house that led to her and Fin locating Lewis. "Shit! Liv!" Amanda ran for her life calling for backup.
Meanwhile Olivia opened the door to their apartment and walked in. She heard a noise, but was a step too late drawing her gun. When she turned around she was looking down the barrel of a gun again with William Lewis standing in front of her, "Welcome home Sergeant Benson." Olivia was scared but couldn't show it, "You know what? Shoot me." Lewis smiles and says "That's the end game, sweetheart." Olivia says "All the hell you put people through, it will rain back down on you." Lewis pauses because he thought he heard something, "Let it rain." Lewis hit Olivia right in the head with the barrel of the gun, knocking her out.
The next thing he saw was the apartment door flying open and Amanda shot him right in the head, killing him instantly. She heard sirens and rushed to Olivia's side. Her forehead was gushing with blood and it was already swelling. She pressed her hand against the wound, "Stay with me Liv. I'm right here. They rushed her to the hospital while the squad gathered around Amanda. She talked to everyone she needed to talk to and handed over her gun, "Captain, it was a good shoot. I've got to go to her." Olivia had a severe concussion, but Amanda got him before he got her. She pulled up a chair and laid her head in Olivia's lap and fell asleep like they always did.
Olivia blinked and the lights hurt her head. She looked down in her lap and saw a fan of blonde hair. "Did you save me?" She said brushing her hair back. Amanda looked up, "Liv!" Olivia shut her eyes, "No yelling my head is killing me. What happened? I mean I know Lewis was in the apartment, but what happened?" Amanda explained everything, the crazy five can, knowing Lewis was there, calling for backup, and killing him. "He's gone Liv, for good."
The doctor came in and checked on a now fully awake Olivia. "You have a bad concussion and you have to stay for observation." The doctor left them and Olivia was grateful for Amanda, "I guess we can never go back to the apartment." Amanda smiled, "I called Alex, she's off doing some type of volunteer work. She told us to stay at her penthouse, as long as we want." Olivia smiled, "Look at my baby growing up. You called Alex, I'm proud of you." Amanda blushed, "You won't be proud when the penthouse life spoils me and I make you buy us one." Olivia rolled her eyes and kissed her on the lips.
