Continuation from where Chapter 13 ended:
"Good Evening Illéa, you are watching the capital report live from the royal palace. Today we have a special announcement from King Maxon and Queen America", Gavril started. He invited us up to the podium and gestured toward us.
"Good Evening Illéa. I hope you all are well. We are pleased to announce that we are expecting an heir to the throne soon", Maxon said, grinning. I turned to the side and flattened my dress so they could see my baby bump.
Behind us, I could see people cheering quietly.
"We don't know the gender yet, but because we have changed Illéa, and are removing the castes, we are no longer going to hand the crown to the first male born. The privilege of the ruling will be given to the firstborn heir of Illéa, no matter what gender", Maxon continued. I stood there in awe. Maxon never told me that. Before I knew it, Gavril and Maxon went through the other announcement and the light went off. Shortly after, the loud room quieted as everyone left the Illéa Capital Report set room. Maxon and I, and a couple of maids, were left.
"Wait really, you changed the rule for our kids, Maxon", I asked grabbing his arm and laying on his shoulder.
"Well, I always knew how unfair the rule was. Being denied the crown at birth because you are apparently the wrong gender", he explained.
"I just didn't want that for our kids, I want them to understand Illéa and fix their problems. And they can't do that if we still have that terrible rule." I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"You are going to be a great dad, Maxon"
"What if I'm no, what if I'm like him America?", he asked throwing his hands up and down.
"Listen Maxon", I said cupping his face with my hands. "You don't have a single bone in your body that is mean. If anything, you're probably going to spoil the baby. We'll have to hire strict nannies", I continued.
He chuckled and said, "No strict nannies, happy nannies only". With that, we linked arms and walked back to our offices to finish up some more work.

The next morning:
Maxon and I woke up and 6, to a beautiful sunset that exploded behind that forest surrounding the palace. After laying down and talking for a bit longer, Mary knocked on the suite door.
"Come in", I uttered, sad to have to wake up this early. Mary came in, followed by Maxon's butler, who both held papers that had our schedules today. They took turns announcing it. First, we had to go meet Brice for a long-due visit. Brice had been asking for us to visit her for a long time, but with the Eights being merged with the Sevens and my new philanthropy project, there wasn't much time. Next, we had our gender reveal party after breakfast. Maxon and I took more time for breakfast before we busied ourselves for the rest of the day. When Mary and Benson(Maxon's butler) said gender reveal, Maxon and I smiled at each other. Today we would learn the gender of our child.
We went to Brice's room, excited to see her again. When we opened the door to her room, she wasn't there. We went inside and searched every corner of her room, but she wasn't there. When I looked in her window, I saw her sitting on a bench in the gardens
"Maxon, she went outside", I informed, pointing through the window. Brice's head was in her hands and she looked like she was crying.
Maxon's expression went from excited to extremely worried. We raced down the flight of stairs and into the gardens.
"Brice, are you ok?", we both asked at the same time. Her face was tear-stained, red, and puffy. She looked like she'd been really sad.
"No, I can't be here and have lonely nights in my room, without going to parties or anything. I can't stay here if I don't know why I'm even here. Don't I deserve to know why I came to the palace and left my family?", she asked moving her hands up and down to express her curiosity and anger.
Maxon and I looked at each other, unsure of what to say. A wave of silence came upon us.
Maxon finally broke the silence, saying, "You are with your family." Brice wore a puzzled look.
"This might be hard to understand, but you're my sister", Maxon explained with a solemn look.
"But, how..", Brice questioned, unable to digest the information given to her.
"You are the daughter of late King Clarkson Schraeve and Elizabeth Mannor", I continued, looking into Brice's eyes.
"I found out when I was little and didn't do anything about it. But after our father died, the advisors found out too. I originally wanted to keep you a secret or else you wouldn't be safe. Illegitimate royal children are automatically sentenced to death. The advisors claimed that the southern rebels would use you as a target if they ever find out. So, we decided to keep you here."
Maxon stood up and hugged Brice.
"I hope you understand this is for your safety." My heart warmed at the sight of the 2 siblings hugging. After meeting Brice, we headed down to the dining room. I asked Marjorie for some plain pancakes and some magazines published today morning. The press was always fast and I wanted to see what they were saying about the pregnancy. She brought me my food and magazines and I started reading.
Illea's new heir:
Yesterday evening, his and her Majesties King Maxon and Queen America Schreave announced the pregnancy of Queen America. She revealed her baby bump to the public on the Capital report. King Maxon also revealed that the gender of the baby does not matter; the firstborn will be queen or king. Here's what the citizens have to say about it:
Sasha Farnham- 3
"I personally am very happy for the King and Queen and agree with their decisions about the gender. If they have a daughter first, she could help Illéa in many ways. I like the new step that Illéa is taking regarding the gender of the heir.
Richard Falcon- 2
"I believe that both the King and Queen deserve happiness with the heir. But, I don't agree with the change in gender. The firstborn male should be King because that's how Illéa's always done it."
Arthur Greenblum- 2
I do not support their decision of having the firstborn be the heir to the crown. That is my opinion, and there should always be a King, not a Queen!
Wow, this guy must've been bothered by the press, but I still don't get why he doesn't like our decision? Do they think that a Queen would be unable to handle the job?
