As the group reaches Mr. Manchas house in the Rainforest Judy then presses the doorbell.

"Mr. Manchas? Judy Hopps and Alexis Hathaway. ZPD. We just wanna know what happened to Emmitt Otterton." Judy says as the door opens to reveal a black panther.

"You should be asking what happened to me!" Mr. Manchas says angrily as he shows his eye is badly scratched and bruised.

"Whoa. A teensy otter did that?" Nick asks in shock.

"What happened?" Alexis asks curiously.

"He was an animal. Down on all fours. He was a savage! There was no warning. He just kept yelling about the . Over and over. The Night howlers!" Mr. Manchas says angrily.

"Oh so you know about the Night howlers too. Good, good, good. Because the Night howlers are exactly what we are here to talk about right?" Nick asks.

"Yep. So uh you just open the door and tell us what you know and we will tell you what we know. Okay?" Judy asks.

"Okay." Mr. Manchas says as he closes the door and starts to unlock it.

"Clever fox. I'm impressed." Alexis says as she smiles at Nick causing him to blush slightly.

"Mr. Manchas?" Judy asks as the group hears Mr. Manchas scream and go inside to see him on the floor twitching.

"Buddy?" Nick asks as Alexis cautiously goes over to the panther.

"Are you... okay? Run. Run!" Alexis shouts in fear as the group sees Mr. Manchas is acting far more animal like and runs.

"What is wrong with him?!" Nick asks fearfully as the group is running from the panther.

"I don't know! Jump! Come on! Head down!" Alexis shouts as the group tries to avoid the panther before Judy starts calling the station.

"Clawhauser listen to me. We have a 10-91! Jaguar gone savage! Vine and Tudjunja!" Judy shouts.

"It's Tujunga!" Alexis shouts.

"There! Head to the sky-trams!" Nick shouts as the group runs through some leaves seeing the sky-trams and run towards them.

"Get in! Carrots? Carrots!" Nick shouts as he and Alexis get in a car before Judy slips and falls.

"Judy!" Alexis shouts.

"Go!" Judy shouts as the gondola gets moving only for Manchas to catch up and result in them falling off the edge and grabbing onto some vines.

"Rabbit whatever you do you do not let go!" Nick says as Judy is holding him and Alexis.

"I'm gonna let go!" Judy says as Alexis gives a fearful look.

"What!? Judy don't you dare!" Alexis shouts.

"One... Two..." Judy says.

"Rabbit listen to your sister!" Nick shouts before Judy lets go as they land on vines as they see Manchas snarling above.

"You.. you saved my life Carrots." Nick says as he looks at Judy.

"Well that's what we do here at the ZPD-" Alexis says before the vines break under them and they fall getting tangled in vines.

"Well this should be good." Chief Bogo says as he and some other police arrive.

*Timeskip*

As the group is following Judy the group then sees their only evidence Mr. Manchas is now gone before Chief Bogo gives an angry look at Judy.

"No. Wait! Sir I'm not the only one who saw him. Nick!" Judy says as Alexis and Nick come forward.

"You think I'm gonna believe a fox?" Chief Bogo asks unconvinced.

"Well my sister saw him too. But he was a key witness and I-" Judy then gets cut off by Chief Bogo.

"Two days to find the otter or you quit. That was the deal. Badge." Chief Bogo says angrily.

"Sir please. She's.. we're telling the truth." Alexis says as Chief Bogo looks at her angrily.

"And you.. I trusted your word a while back when you said she would make a decent cop and to give her a chance. I trusted your word because you were a good cop. But I can see having either of you on the force at all was a bad idea to begin with. Badges both of you. Now!" Chief Bogo says angrily as Alexis and Judy reluctantly begin to unclip their badges.

"Uh no." Nick says as Chief Bogo looks at him.

"What did you say fox?" Chief Bogo asks.

"Nick what are you doing?" Alexis asks as she looks at Nick.

"Sorry. What I said was no! They will not be giving you those badges. Look you gave them a... a clown vest, a three-wheeled joke-mobile, and two days to solve a case you guys haven't cracked in two weeks? Yeah it's no wonder they needed to get help from a fox. None of you guys were gonna help them were you? Here's the thing chief. You gave them the 48 hours so technically we still have... ten left to find our Mr. Otterton and that is exactly what we're gonna do. So if you'll excuse us we have a very big lead to follow and a case to crack. Good day. Officer Hopps and Officer Hathaway." Nick says as he holds a gondola door open for Alexis and Judy as the three then leave in the gondola.

"Thank you." Judy says as she and Alexis look at Nick.

"Never let 'em see that they get to you." Nick says as Alexis looks at him curiously.

"So... things do get to you?" Alexis asks.

"Oh I mean not anymore. But I was small and emotionally unbalanced like Carrots once." Nick says.

"Har-har." Judy says as she rolls her eyes and looks away.

"Very funny." Alexis says.

"No it's true. I think I was eight or maybe nine and all I wanted to do was join the Junior Ranger Scouts. So my mom scraped together enough money to buy me a brand new uniform because by George I was gonna fit in. Even if I was the only predator in the troop. The only fox. I was gonna be part of a pack. I was so proud. But in the end because of being a predator and a fox I got muzzled like an animal. I learned two things that day. One. I was never gonna let anyone see that they got to me." Nick says as Alexis and Judy look at him sympathetically.

"And two?" Judy asks.

"If the world's only gonna see a fox as shifty and untrustworthy there's no point in trying to be anything else." Nick says as Alexis gives a soft smile before placing her paw on Nick's.

"Nick you are so much more than that. And what you are is simply perfect." Alexis says causing Nick to blush slightly.

"Boy look at that traffic down there. How about we go up to Chuck in traffic central? Chuck how're things looking on the jam-cams?" Nick asks as he imitates a reporter.

"Nick I'm glad you told us." Alexis says.

"The jam-cams..." Nick says.

"Seriously. It's okay-" Judy then gets cut off by Nick.

"No, no, no. Shh! There are traffic cameras everywhere. All over the canopy! Whatever happened to the jaguar..." Nick says as he points to hidden cameras in fake trees.

"The traffic cams would have caught it!" Judy shouts.

"Bingo!" Nick says.

"Oh-ho. Pretty sneaky slick!" Judy shouts as she playfully punches Nick in the arm.

"Yes however if you didn't have access to the system before I doubt Chief Buffalo-Butt is gonna let you into it now." Nick says.

"No... But we have a friend at City Hall who might!" Judy says.
