So… I was supposed to get this out a week ago but then some stuff happened and I didn't have time to proofread the chapter so here it is in its full glory! Hope you enjoy it!

Disclaimer: I don't own anything! I promise!

"La Push girls, you in?" Eric asked Angela and I as we sat down at the lunch table.

Angela brightened up at the idea, "Oh you know I'm in!"

I looked at them, confused as I set my tray down. "What is that?" I asked.

Mike chimed in with Jessica in his lap, gross. "La Push beach, down on the Quileute rez. We're all going after school. Big swell coming in."

Eric stood up on his chair, pantomiming surfing. "And I don't just surf the internet!"

"Eric, you stood up once, on a foam board!" Jessica laughed. He sat down, defeated.

"I don't know…" I replied, not knowing if I really wanted to go down to a beach, especially in Forks.

"There's whale watching too! Come with us!" Angela begged.

I stood up, about to head over to the salad bar before Eric stopped me, "La Push baby! It's….La Push!" He said in a silly voice.

I laughed a bit, 'What an idiot.' "Okay, I'll go if you stop saying that!" I rolled my eyes and walked off as the others made fun of Eric.

I grabbed an apple and looked for a place to put it in my bowl. "Edible art…" A heavenly voice suddenly came from beside me. I turned around shocked as my apple fell out of my hands. Edward caught it and held it out in both his. 'What is this? A crappy book cover?' My inner monologue laughed.

I rolled my eyes as I took the apple from his hands, annoyed with his antics. "Thanks….But your mood swings are giving me a whiplash." I turned away from him.

He sighed, seemingly feeling bad. "Look, I said it would be better if we weren't friends, not that I didn't want to be."

'What is "Things Edward has said that make no sense" Alex?' My inner monologue joked bitterly.

"What does that mean exactly?" I asked.

He looked into my eyes, suddenly serious. "It means if you were smart, you'd avoid me." He glanced over at his perfect looking family.

'Well, don't judge by appearances. They are definitely hiding something .' My inner monologue reminded me. I sighed and glanced over at my friends, they were staring at us like we had grown tails.

"So let's say, for argument's sake, that I'm not smart." I shot back as I brought my gaze back to his stupid, perfect face. "Would you tell me the truth?" I asked, hopeful but sure that he would just be a dick about it.

He laughed, "No probably not." 'Knew it.'

I sighed and went back to my food, "I'd rather hear your theories." He continued. 'My theories? Well, theory 1, you're an asshole. 2, You just act like an asshole to keep people from you or 3, You're Superman with an superiority complex. Pick your favorite!' My inner monologue said sarcastically. I kept my eyes on my food.

"Were you sent here from Krypton or bitten by a spider?" I rolled my eyes.

"You're talking about superheroes. What if I'm not a hero? What if I'm the villain?" He asked. I looked at him to see if he was serious, he was.

I sighed, time to bring out the big guns. "You're not. I can see what you're doing. This whole jackass attitude, it's to keep people away from you. Like a mask." He looked shocked at my statement, guess I hit the nail in the coffin on that one. "Look, why don't we just hang out or something? A bunch of people are going to the beach, come with us. It'll be fun - sand fleas, wind burn, salt water stinging your eyes… fun fun." I smile a bit.

He smiled back, did I finally break through his assholeliness? "What beach?" He asked.

I smiled more "La Push." His smile dropped, guess not. I sighed, "What's wrong? Bad beach?"

He looked over at Mike, seemingly having a stare down. He looked back at me. "Just a bit crowded. I'll see you later, Bella." He walked back to his family. I will never understand him.

After school, I quickly dropped off my car. Charlie was just stepping out of the house as I got home. "Hey Bell, how was school?"

I smiled. "Fine, I'm gonna go out with some friends though, Angela's gonna pick me up."

He nodded, smiling. "Alright, I'm gonna be home late tonight." He hugged me quickly.

"Why?" I asked, a cop working late, that's never good.

"A security guard got killed down in Mason by some sort of animal, they need some extra help." He answered as he got in the car.

"An animal?" I asked quietly.

He looked up at me and said, "You're not in Phoenix anymore Bells."

I nodded, "No kidding." He smiled and pulled out of the driveway as Angela pulled up.

'Crowded my foot!' was all I could think when we got to the beach, other than us there was nobody there. I rode with Angela, Jessica, and Mike's friend Ben in Eric's van while Mike hitched a ride in Tyler's van. Tyler asked me earlier if I wanted to go with him but after experiencing his driving, yeah never again.

I kept seeing Angela give Ben some longing looks, 'Oh! A possible romance?!' My inner monologue giggled. Wait, since when did I care about non-book related romance? 'Oh, I don't know Bella. Maybe it has to do with an asshole who's name starts with an E.' She mocked me. I internally glared at her. 'Alright alright, I'll shut up.' She gave in. I smiled a bit.

Angela and I were sitting in Eric's truck while Mike, Tyler, Eric, and Jessica were getting into surf gear. I looked over at her and bumped her with my shoulder. "So, you had your eye on Ben the entire ride." I teased.

She looked at me, blushing then sighing in annoyance. "I keep thinking he's going to ask me to prom, then he just... doesn't." She said while picking at her coat.

I put my hand on her shoulder. "You could ask him you know." She looked at me like I was insane, I sighed softly. "Take control, you are a strong independent woman who can take care of business."

She laughed, "Really?"

I nodded, "Embrace your inner Angelica!"

She smiled and hugged me. "Thanks Bella."

"Bella!" I heard someone yell. I looked over and saw Jacob and two other boys follow him.

I smiled widely. "Hey Jake! Guys, this is Jacob!" He sat down next to me. "You stalking me now or something?"

"Hey, you're on my rez remember?" He teased, laughing. I laughed with him softly. "You surfing?"

I shook my head quickly, wide eyed. "Hell no! Really don't wanna kill myself today! Maybe tomorrow."

Jessica laughed, "You can keep her company, her date bailed."

Mike looked up quickly, "Date? What date?!" "He sounds pissed, will he ever take a hint that I'm not interested?'

Jessica looked at me and said, "She invited Edward!"

I sighed softly and pushed my hair back behind my ear. "To be polite, that's all."

"I think it's sweet she invited him. No one ever does." Angela came to my aid.

I smiled at her then Mike opened his mouth. "Yeah, 'Cause The Cullen's are freaks!"

One of Jacob's friends nodded, agreeing. "Got that right!"

I looked up at him and asked, "You know the Cullen's?"

The boy looked at me seriously, "The Cullen's don't come here."

While the rest of the group went out surfing or swimming, Jake and I decided to go for a walk down the beach. What that boy said kept running through my head. I sighed, trying to figure out how to start this. "So, what did that guy mean by 'The Cullen's don't come here?'"

He smiled a bit, "Oops. Caught that, huh?"

I looked at him, confused. "Yeah, he said it out loud. Everyone heard that."

He sighed softly. "I'm not supposed to say anything."

Fine, if you're gonna be like that, time to turn the flirt on! Or my sad attempt at flirting. I got in front of him and batted my eyes. "I can keep a secret.." I smiled softly.

He laughed a bit, guess it didn't work. "It's just an old scary story." I gave him my best puppy dog eyes. He sighed and we kept walking. "Alright. Did you know the Quileute's are supposedly descended from wolves?"

My eyes widened, "Wait, wolves. Like fur, fangs... doggy breath?"

He laughed a bit. "Something like that." He affirmed but didn't continue.

'Oh come on! Don't pull that shit!' "So The Cullen legend is….?" I egged him on.

He finally continued. "Well, they're supposedly descended from this, like…" He changed his voice into a spookier voice. "'enemy clan.' ... But they claimed to be different, so we made a treaty with them." I looked at him "If they promised to stay off Quileute lands, we wouldn't expose what they really were to the pale-faces…" He looked at me.

I jumped when I heard Angela scream. Eric was chasing her around with a dead snake while Ben was trying to stop him. Jacob smiled and started to walk us back to the van.

"Wait! What were they?" I asked, 'Maybe he knows how he really stopped that van!' My inner monologue exclaimed.

He smiled, dismissively. "Bella, it's just a story! Nothing to look into that deeply!" He walked off and I stopped, irritated by his non-answer.

"Why won't anyone answer any of my questions?!" I asked myself under my breath as I walked back to the group.

"So is Eliza really the perfect choice for Hamilton or could it be Angelica?" Angela asked as we sat in the coffee shop after we got done at the beach. We've been having this debate ever since we got in the car, we annoyed Jessica and Eric so much! Ben seemed entertained by our debate, giving Angela the same eyes that she gave to him.

"Well, I still have a soft spot for Eliza but honestly I don't think Alexander deserves either of them." I laughed a bit.

She nodded. "Agreed." We laughed as we sipped our coffee. "So, what's going on between you and Edward?" She suddenly asked.

I almost choked on my drink. "What? Oh! Nothing! Absolutely nothing! We're just friends! Not even that!" I answered quickly.

She looked at me, not buying it "Sure! And I'll be prom queen this year!"

I rolled my eyes, "Seriously, there is absolutely nothing happening between Cullen and I."

She laughed a bit and I took another drink of my coffee. "So how's it going with you and Ben?" I teased, trying to swing the conversation to her.

"Nothing...yet." She winked. 'I really hope they get together, those two would be so cute! A much better pairing than Edward and I.'

I laughed a bit. "But there will be!"

She crossed her fingers "God I hope so! So who is more useless? Cosette or Johanna?" She suddenly asked. I smiled, 'Here we go again!'

Later that night, I looked online for more Quileute legends. I took a deep breath and typed into Google 'Quileute legends, Olympic Peninsula'. I looked around and saw an ad for Thunderbird & Whale Bookstore in Port Angeles. I wrote down the address for the store and shut down my computer. I plugged it in for tomorrow and went to bed. I started playing my Hamilton soundtrack and fell asleep to Lin-Manuel Miranda's beautiful voice.

"In the eye of a hurricane
There is quiet
For just a moment
A yellow sky"
