In the year 2012, in the city of Chicago, Illinois, the Autobots and the Decepticons battle each other, one side to protect Earth, the other to control its population to rebuild their home planet, Cybertron. On the LaSalle Street Bridge, the Decepticon leader Megatron defeats his benefactor and Autobot turncoat Sentinel Prime, and turns to his brother and leader of the Autobots Optimus Prime, lying wounded and injured without an arm. "Now… we need a truce." Megatron said to Optimus Prime as he throws Sentinel Prime aside. "All I want is to be back in charge. Besides, who would you be without me, Prime?" Megatron asked of Optimus Prime. The Autobot leader gets up and faces Megatron as his shoulder joint sparks.

"Time to find out." Optimus Prime answered before deploying his face plate. He picks up his energon battleaxe from the ground and swings it into Megatron's chest, circles behind him and pulls the axe out. He knocks Megatron down as he tries to get his fusion shotgun, and hooks his battleaxe into Megatron's face and he pulls it back, tearing Megatron's head off and slamming it onto the bridge. As Megatron's optics flicker out, his soul emerges from his body, staring at his own defeat and Optimus Prime approaching Sentinel Prime on the floor. "No… no! Not again! My victory!" Megatron's spirit swore in anger.

Emerging from thin air is a tall, skeletal Transformer with thin limbs and a red paintjob. "We meet again, Megatron." the being greeted Megatron with a deep, southern accent. "Mortilus. You have come to send my soul to the Pit once more, have you?" Megatron asked the being. "Yes. There is no other alternative than to follow me." Mortilus answered. Megatron looks to Optimus Prime as the latter shoots Sentinel Prime with his fusion shotgun, causing his soul to emerge from his dead body.

"What? No!" Sentinel Screamed at his current condition. "Oh, you're coming with me as well." Mortilus pointed to Sentinel Prime. Megatron continues to stare at Optimus. "I shall return, Optimus." Megatron muttered. "That's what they always say. Oddly enough they actually do half the time." Mortilus commented.

He snaps his fingers and transports every dead Cybertronian soul to the afterlife. Megatron is taken to a field of blue flowers under a navy sky. "This… this isn't the Pit." Megatron said in surprise as he looks at his surroundings. "No, it isn't." Mortilus responded as he appeared behind Megatron. The former overlord looks around the garden, finding flowers on every inch of the ground.

"It's grown since the last time you were here." Mortilus said. "Last time?" Megatron questioned. "Right, you forgot. When a spark escapes from the Allspark, their memories of the afterlife are erased as to not give them an existential crisis in their new life. When you died the first time, I took you here." Mortilus informed Megatron. "Why this? Why flowers for an overlord?" Megatron asked Mortilus. "This is still a punishment. This realm is for you to reflect on your past." Mortilus answered.

"How so? There is nothing here but these plants!" Megatron said as he stomped on a cluster of flowers. The flowers were crumpled, but reformed to its previous, healthy form. "One flower represents one life you have taken, by your hand or through your will." Mortilus answered. Megatron looks again to the horizon. "And you're wrong, there's something else other than the flowers here: you." Mortilus said before disappearing.

In his place, a statue of Megatron appears on a pedestal. On the plaque read his name in Cybertronian: "Megatron of Iacon" and years of his birth and death, and rebirth and his recent death. "This is merely a temporary setback. Not even Mortilus will stop my conquest." Megatron muttered. For years, Megatron sat in his afterlife with nothing to do, until a vision appears before him. "Could this be…?" Megatron said as he stood up.

In the vision, he sees a factory floor populated by humans, one of which is a bald Caucasian man wearing a black suit and glasses. "This is our military prototype, Galvatron." the bald man spoke to a woman in white walking beside him. "Those humans must've found my body and thought it would be useful to them. How Ironic that the body they created will become their undoing." Megatron commented on the vision. "Simple coding… Algorithms! Math! Why can't we make what we wanna make… the way we wanna make it?! Why?!" the bald man screamed as he slams his hand against a transparent screen of Optimus Prime's biometrics. "This shall be the new beginning of my reign. May it be for millennia…" Megatron commented.

Although Megatron finds his essence within the drone Galvatron, he finds difficulty controlling the construct when it faces against Optimus Prime on a highway. "You have no soul!" Optimus Prime swore as he shoves his sword into Galvatron's chest, only for it to be shredded to pieces. "That is why I have no fear!" Galvatron hissed back. "Those are not my words! Heed my will, drone!" Megatron demanded of Galvatron as he views his actions through his visions. "Galvatron… this thing hasn't restored me, it's replaced me! Once I truly escape this realm, I shall take my rightful place as Emperor of Destruction!" Megatron declared.

As the years pass, Megatron tries to gain control of Galvatron, who has commanded the Decepticons of its own will, carrying out Megatron's mission in his stead. Although they share the same mindset, it was Megatron who wanted control. Megatron continuously receives visions of Galvatron's actions, from his failure to terraform Hong Kong, to meeting the mysterious Quintessa for an upgrade to a bigger form of a stealth bomber, to his second battle with Optimus Prime in the ruins of Cybertron. In this time, Megaron spent his afterlife roaming the field of flowers, walking endlessly under the navy sky.

"How long have I been here?" Megatron thought blankly as he walked through the field. He stops and looks down on the flowers before picking one from the field. He closely inspects the flower and sees another vision, but not one of Galvatron, but at a helpless Autobot, impaled at Megatron's hands before being dismembered, all the while staring into the overlord's face. "Who is this?" Megatron wondered. He drops the flower and picks up another, gaining a vision of one of his own underlings executed for their failure.

"I've killed billions… and I don't even remember their faces." Megatron said. As he picked sparkflowers from the field, all he could see in his victims' last moments is his menacing face, or his underlings doing the deed under his name. He feels a strange feeling with every flower he picks and every vision he experiences, a feeling that gives him dread yet he continues to collect them. For the first time, he experiences his own tyranny through the eyes of his victims. "Such beauty, only achieved through suffering. A paradise achieved through pain." Megatron muttered as he looks around the field.

He continues to walk through the field, now with even more dread in his spark than when he first arrived, filled by terror from visions of Galvatron and his own victims. After what felt like centuries, he made it to the edge of the field where he saw an expanse of grey soil and a cluster of roses on the border. He picks a rose and experiences a vision of a man lying in a street which he flicked away into a wall. "Even the human lives I've taken are here…" he muttered. Afterwards, he experiences a vision from Galvatron.

From the vision, Megatron witnesses Optimus Prime in some kind of upgraded form collecting a blue device from a pedestal in metal ruins. "The Key!" Galvatron screamed as a flash of bright light filled the room before the vision ceases.

Suddenly, the world around Megatron begins to brighten. "Optimus Prime…" Megatron muttered. The world turns into a single white light before Megatron finds himself in a dark, abandoned laboratory. All around him, Cybertronians are assembled by an invisible force from scrap piles and from bodies of drones scattered across the factory floor. Both Autobots and Decepticons are brought to life, and fight once they cross eyes, while some flee from the lab.

Among the fleeing is Sentinel Prime in fire truck mode, passing by Megatron without even realizing his presence. "This power… only something like the AllSpark can achieve this." Megatron said as he stood up. He watches the fight from the shadows before transforming into an alien jet and flies through the roof. All over the world, Cybertronians come to life from the dead, from scrapyards in China, to those buried in the depths of the oceans. In the land of Egypt where a massive pyramid surrounded by tall walls stood, bursts apart, and the local humans notice the destruction and take arms. "[Satan's Tomb! Something has awakened inside!]" an Egyptian militant yelled to his men.

Emerging from the pyramid is a massive, ancient Cybertronian with dark mesh, glowing red joints, many-fingered hands, and a pharaoh-like visage. "[I have returned… I am… The Fallen…]" the Cybertronian spoke before summoning a massive staff. He destroys the wall with a swift swing of his staff before transforming into an alien jet and flies away. Megatron flies across the world, every corner he sees Autobots and Decepticons coming back to life.

Not only that, but a massive fragmented planetoid can be seen from the atmosphere. "Cybertron… Optimus Prime really did bring it back to Earth." Megatron commented. "If Optimus Prime has the last key, then the Omega Lock is complete. I'll be there to see it." Megatron said before flying into space. Sometime later on Cybertron, Optimus Prime and Galvatron face off on a platform where a strange device stood between them. "Cybertron will be mine! I will be the one to activate the Omega Lock!" Galvatron yelled.

"Over my dead body!" Optimus Prime cried out before deploying his faceplate. As Galvatron deployed his sword from his back, a blast penetrates his chest from behind. Optimus Prime looks through the red-hot cavity and sees Megatron. "Get away from my brother, you walking farce!" Megatron threatened Galvatron as he pointed his fusion cannon at him. "How… how is this possible?!" Galvatron exclaimed as he fell to his knees, clutching the empty cavity in his chest.

"It just is." Megatron replied as he walks closer to Galvatron. He transforms his fusion cannon into a pincer weapon and drives it through Galvatron's chest and pulls upwards, splitting him in half. Optimus Prime looks into Megatrons eyes and senses a feeling of relief, somehow. "Prime, hand me the planetary announcement system." Megatron requested as he held his hand out. Optimus Prime looks at a microphone-like device in his hand and hands it to Megatron, who puts the mouthpiece to his face.

"Decepticons, this is Megatron. I order all of you to surrender, lest more casualties will occur. We have failed this war; there is no reason to keep fighting. Those of you who choose to keep fighting; I will not stop you, but there is no point in continuing. This is my final command to you all. I wish peace and prosperity to the Cybertronian race; Pax Cybertronia." Megatron's voice broadcasted to the entire planet through speaker systems to the Decepticons fighting Autobots in the streets. The Decepticon troops throw their weapons down and surrender as the Autobots round them up and detain them. "Megatron…" Optimus Prime said in surprise. "Prime, this will likely be the final time either of us will meet eyes. The Primes were destined to lead this planet to greatness. I was not one of them. I wish you the best of luck leading this empire to greatness." Megatron said as he looked to Earth in the Cybertronian sky. He jumps off the platform and transforms into jet mode, flying into space, never to be seen again.

Until now…
