When Izuku's body was consumed by the glow, the first thing he felt was how trapped he felt. If he had to think of an analogy, it would be like he was trying to put both his legs into the same pants leg, but instead of pants it was a shirt, and instead of legs it was his arms.
Which didn't make sense, Izuku hadn't worn shirts in literal years at this point.
With but a light flex however the tightness around his upper body disappeared and his eyes fully came into focus. Immediately however his focus was grabbed by a colossal green face as he closed in.
"That's right, I was in the entrance exam when I was taken! The 0 pointer was going to hurt someone and I jumped! Which means if it really has been milliseconds, I've gotta deal with this right now!"
Even as his body fell on instincts that weren't quite muscle memory any more, Izuku had to marvel at the powers of adrenaline and how much it was a hell of a drug.
"Foooocus PUNCH!"
Unleashing his punch, he witnessed the face cave in before exploding backwards from the force, sending the entire bot really backwards before falling.
"Now for the not so fun part…"
Bracing himself for the rough landing equivalent of a high jump kick, he was surprised when his fall slowed to a gradual stop before letting him go on the ground.
"Wait a second… that means…."
"OCHAKO!"
Spinning around, all he saw was barren dirt and concrete around. Every sane person long since fled the area.
"Up here sweetie."
Looking up, he was graced with a sight that was both familiar and different at the same time. His eyes were immediately drawn to the exposed red crest sticking out the center of her chest, with a white shirt being torn from its apparently sudden growth, her familiar psychic glow holding onto her jacket to preserve her modesty as she floated down into his arms.
Catching her bridal style out of pure habit, he noticed the redness of her ankle as she held it up, even as she relaxed into his arms, brown fringes converging to cover her left eye.
"Came to with rubble pinning my foot in place, guess I was right about that fall bein' bad luck after all huh?"
Izuku stopped to blink at that, scratching his head even as he held his… wife? Former wife? To his chest.
"Fall?"
Cheeks taking on a rosy hugh she covered her face.
"Oh my gosh of course you don't remember it was five year ago for you but for part of me it was literal hours ago and god this feels so weird."
Understanding struck Izuku like when he punched himself in confusion.
"I think I remember you actually! Before I left that is. God this is so weird. So you effectively have two yesterdays right now?"
Thinking for a moment, she nodded.
"I remember waking up today in preparation for the exam, but I also remember waking up to enter the cave today."
"Excuse me young man, while I'm sure the lady you're wooing appreciates the view, I do need to make sure that ankle heals well."
Looking down, Izuku had to blink at the little old lady in front of him.
"Oh right! Sorry!"
Kneeling down, he gently set Ochako on the ground, even as the feeling in the back of his mind said he should know who the lady was. It wasn't until her lips extended and kissed Ochako's forehead did the memory come back to him.
"You're Recovery Girl!"
Chuckling she gestured to him.
"Indeed I am, young man. Now, let me see that arm, you punched that robot pretty hard and I've gotta make sure you didn't hurt yourself in the process."
Holding out his lower-right arm, Recovery Girl pressed on the forearm in several places before nodding and giving it a quick peck.
"Torn muscle and a couple pulled tendons, not as bad as it could have been with forces like that in play."
Relaxing, he wasn't prepared for the sharp jab to his shin by her cane.
"Though make sure to stretch! It's like you went straight from resting to going all out! Proper stretching is important!"
Clapping his hands together he bowed in apology.
"Sorry mam, it definitely won't happen again."
Ochako's giggles did not help his chastisement in the slightest.
"Well if you two are good now, I'm gonna go check on the other students, have a good day! And make sure you get plenty of rest!"
As Recovery Girl walked away, Ochako's giggles died out as she could tell something was bothering her… husband? Boyfriend? Fiance? Fuck it, she's just going to stick with husband.
Gently resting a hand on his lower bicep, unconsciously keeping her pinky raised she waited to get his attention.
"Everything ok, sweetie?"
"I… don't remember where to go from here. Is there another phase to the exam? God this is so weird."
Grabbing his hand, she led the way back to where part of her remembered the entrance to be.
"No, there aren't any parts left to the exam. The bus should take us back to the locker room, do you remember what password you set for your locker?"
That seemed to help him relax a bit.
"Yeah it was 255 64442, same as what I chose for the guild account back… I guess you could say home?"
Absentmindedly nodding she was almost within earshot of the rest of their testing group before she paused as her new memories learned something from her old ones.
"Wait… 255 64442… No that can't… oh my god you didn't. You seriously made the guild bank code All Might?!"
The rapid reddening of his face sent her into a laughing fit that had her gasping for breath.
"I… you… oh my gosh. And your whole '"I am here!'" shtick!" She was fully leaning on him to stay standing at this point.
"Oh, wheeze, my, wheeze, god. You're such a dork! Emulating the number one hero!"
Stepping in front of him, faces equally red for completely different reasons, she floated herself up to his height as she cupped his cheeks as she pressed her forehead to his.
"If you weren't already the love of my life, I would ask you out here and now."
"We could remarry? Since we're technically not married anymore."
And with that, her face was as red as his from embarrassment, even as he wore that sheepishly adorable grin that made her world feel brighter.
Standing in the locker room provided for male examinees, Izuku was finally able to take stock of how much he had changed since he left it 5 years ago (or 50 minutes to most others). Standing at 5 foot 10, he was 4 inches taller than when he left, and 6 inches taller than he was as a Mmachamp.
However, even if he was the same height he doubted he could fit into his old clothes nicely. Though his legs were mostly the same, his upper body went from slim and fit, to All Might and Endeavor levels of bulk. As he held up his old shirt in front of himself, he couldn't help but sigh in disappointment.
A finger tapping his shoulder made him glance over and up at another male examinee. With two more arms than him, and four more inches in height, the male cut an imposing figure (even if he wasn't quite as built as Izuku was now) especially with his dress jacket missing sleeves and the shoulders.
The hand that had poked him morphed in a mouth. "Sorry for bothering you, but I noticed you seemed to be having a problem?"
Scratching his head, Izuku couldn't help but look a bit sheepish. "Yeah, my quirk had a mutation mid-exam and I can't exactly fit my clothes I wore to the exam."
The man rubbed his chin before reaching into his duffel bag and pulling out a muscle shirt and pants, quickly changing into them. Folding the clothes, he made to handed them to Izuku.
"Here, these should fit you better. They're a bit worn, but I figured you'd rather have my uniform than the clothes I wore in the exam." One of his hands morphed into a nose. "I'm pretty sure they don't smell that great."
Izuku paused for a moment, not quite expecting a stranger to give him the literal clothes off his back.
"I, I'm sorry I can't possibly accept these!"
Shrugging the duffel bag back onto his shoulder, the man turned without even glancing at the clothes.
"It's fine, I promise! If it means that much you can give me them back if we make it into UA, how's that sound?"
Shaking his head to clear it, Izuku bowed in thanks.
"Thank you! I'll hopefully see you in UA!"
Stepping outside, Izuku couldn't help but be thankful to his test-mate. Although the pants were a bit long, and the shirt not quite cut just right, they were still miles better to wear in terms of comfort than his stretched to the limit track pants. Sadly his shoes didn't survive, but his feet did seem to retain their toughness so going barefoot didn't cause him any issues.
With a quick glance around he saw the form of Ochako waving at him. Meeting her at the gate, they both began to make their way to the train station as Izuku took a moment to see how she had modified her outfit. Surprisingly all she had to do was leave the 2nd to top button to allow her heart to poke through on her button up shirt. It made sense he supposed, her looked hadn't changed as much as his. Tangent aside, he broke the question that had been bugging him in the locker room.
"So, what do we want to do about… everything?"
Quicking an eyebrow under her bang, Ochako looked over and up at Izuku. Only through years of being with her did he catch it. Seeing her question, he elaborated.
"I mean, we could chalk up the physical changes to 'stress induced quirk mutation', but what do we want to do about our relationship, and just our changes in general? I'm mentally five years older and you… what even is it that happened to you?"
Letting out a hum, Ochako attempted to put her thoughts into words. "It basically feels like I've got two memories combined into one? Like, if you asked me what I did yesterday, I can easily tell you that we walked through the woods looking for the cave, but at the same time yesterday also brings the memory of me spending the day with mom and dad preparing for the exam."
She shrugged as she continued. "I think the memory mixup will be less weird after a week or two once my memories get more long term. I think the me from this world read something like that online. As for what we want to do? I say just act naturally, because between you and me, you're terrible at acting and lying in general."
Nodding, Izuku reached an arm out and wrapped her in a snug as a bug hug. "In that case, what do we want to tell our parents? Hey mom and/or dad! This is my spouse that I technically met at the entrance exam but have known for five years in another dimension!"
Enjoying the show of affection, and ignoring the old couple walking by that commented on how adorable the two of them looked, Ochako decided that, no, she would rather not do without this.
"I mean, maybe not that way exactly. But they are our parents still. If anyone deserves to know it's probably them."
Releasing her, Izuku dug into the pocket of his borrowed pants for his phone.
"Are you in any rush?" At her negative nod he continued, unlocking his phone to reveal a surprising text on his phone.
"We need to talk about your quirk." ~A.M. 3:32 PM
"Not that you're in trouble or anything!" ~A.M. 3:33 PM
Typing a quick reply, Izuku hit send before opening his call app.
"Yes sir! In person or on the phone?" I.M. 4:19PM
Hitting call on his Mom's name, he waited for the phone to pick up.
"Izuku! Is everything ok?! I didn't expect you to call! Are you hurt, was there an accident? Did the exam get cancelled?!"
Pulling the phone from his ear, Izuku couldn't help the grin that broke onto his face at his mom's worry.
"Hi Mmom! I'm fine! I'm calling because I wanted to see if I was ok to bring company over, I'm not hurt, there was a wardrobe accident but we can talk about that later, and no the exam wasn't canceled it went just fine."
Taking a breath, Izuku waited for a response.
And waited.
And he waited some more.
Glancing at Ochako in worry, he was about to pick her up and book it home when he was nearly deafened.
"EEEEEEEEEE, MY LITTLE BOY HAS A FRIEND COMING OVER! Oh my gosh I have so much to prepare. What's their favorite food, do they like katsudon? I made some to help you celebrate how the test went but if they don't like it I can make them something else! When will they be here?"
Swapping ears as he cleaned his left one with a finger, Izuku rolled with the barrage of questions. Even as Ochako's eyes lit up as she mentally fed him the answer to each of the overhead questions.
"Her favorite food is mMochi, she does like katsudon though, and she is going to be arriving with me since she doesn't have to be home until later."
"ITS A GIRL?!" A soft whumpf followed her exclamation.
"Mom? Mom. Mooooom? Ok then see you in a bit."
Hanging up and putting it back in his pocket, he beamed at Ochako.
"Well, let's get you two introduced!"
