Who... is on The Moon? (a 10th Doctor Who story)

July 20, 1969... The 'Eagle' has just landed!

But before Neil Armstrong walked down the LEM ladder for

that small step for a man, and great leap for all humankind...

A few hours earlier... or, more correctly... about 35 years later on:

The 10th Doctor was promising his Companion Rose a new adventure.

"So, using the Time-Space-Travel bit that the TARDIS has, we can go see

that First Great Leap... into a much larger Universe... By Earth Humans.

The very 1st Moon Landing! Sounds like a jolly good time, eh, Rose?"

Rose: "Why certainly, Doctor... I'd love seeing that after our lunch!"

Doctor: "Certainly... Right... I'm a trifle peckish, now you mention it.

Yes... Right after a spot of lunch, and some Tea! Harrod's 1899 it is!

And we both shall dress appropriately... We have the prefect green dress

with matching hat and parasol for you. You'll look rather grand in it, surely!"

(and they both did look rather positively smashing... in the 1899 sort of way)

The Apollo 11 Lunar Module had safely touched down on the Moon.

About 10 minutes later, as Neil looked out the left side LEM window:

"Hey, Buzz... Look out the right side window... You see what I see?"

Buzz: "I see beautiful desolation... Oh, Yes! Up on that far crater rim!"

Neil: "Hello, Houston... We're not alone up here... There are other..."

(Thankfully, Houston quickly changed to another radio channel then)

But a few ham radio hobbyists on Earth thought they heard... something?

"Oh, Doctor... This is glorious... I never knew that the Moon, close up,

had some faint and lovely colors on it. Like that bit of orange over there."

Rose was happy and enchanted by the view from the TARDIS. The Doctor

had waited until the American spacecraft had safely touched down, before

setting the TARDIS lightly onto the gray dusty rim of a big crater, off a ways.

"Oh, my... What we have here, now..." spoke The Doctor, as he and Rose then

saw a few other and quite unusual vehicles then set down on the rim of the same

crater and not too far from the standing TARDIS. Aliens? The Russians? Oh! Who...

Is... On... The Moon? And, are they just curious, about the Earth craft down below?

(To be continued...)
