Kirk and McCoy had gone back to the bridge, when the doors opened Chekov once again announced the Captain's arrival. As Kirk sat down in his chair he was approached by Spock who stood next to him, "Is everything alright Captain?" He asked, Kirk nodded. "It is now Spock, there was just a little incident down in Engineering." Spock raised an eyebrow, "May I enquire as to what happened Captain?" Kirk glanced around the bridge to note who was actually there, thankfully it was just the command crew (minus Scotty) so he decided it would be best to tell them since the incident did involve one of their friends. "Scotty and Lieutenant Smith came very close to drowning in one of the ships water tanks." Chekov quickly turned his chair around, "Lexie?" He questioned; Kirk just stared at him. "You've met her I assume Pavel?" The navigator nodded, "Yes Sir. I met her yesterday, is she and Mr Scott alright?"

McCoy nodded in replied to the young officers question. "They're both fine kid." Chekov was relieved to hear that. "You can drop by and see her after your shift Pavel, as long as it's alright with McCoy." Kirk said as he turned his head to face the CMO, "Fine with me Jim." Chekov smiled brightly, for the first time ever he wanted his shift to be over so he could go and check up on Lexie. Just then he saw Sulu giving him an odd look, "What?" He asked as Sulu smiled at him. "So, who exactly is Lexie?" He questioned, almost immediately Chekov knew where Sulu's mind was heading. "Lexie is one of the new crew members who was assigned to the Enterprise for its new mission, I met her in one of the rec rooms the day we embarked and don't bother asking Hikaru because the answer is no. I'm not sure if we are even friends." Sulu just started at him, "If you're not friends then why do you want to go check on her?" He asked, Chekov just stared back. "Because I don't think she had made any friends yet, I'm just trying to be nice." He replied, Sulu patted him gently on the shoulder. "You've got a good heart Pav, maybe you can introduce me to her. I mean more the merrier, right?" Chekov nodded in agreement, then the two of them turned back to concentrate on their work.

Lexie was finding it hard to occupy herself. It had been two hours since McCoy had released her from sickbay and she was slowly running out of things to do. She had rearranged her draws about five times and managed to solve an extremely complex equation which had her stumped for over a month. Now she was finishing up the changes on her PADD, so it was all set to allow Delta to upload his own program onto it, Lexie had made sure that Delta's coding wouldn't be seen as a virus to the Enterprise's computer, or as an intruder since she highly doubt she was even meant to have brought him along with her, she was sure that Star Fleet would see him as a danger since he was so advanced. "Is it ready yet?" Delta asked like an impatient child, "Almost Delta, just a few more seconds."

Lexie replied as she tapped on the PADDs screen in several places. She wanted this to be done just as much as her cybernetic friend, since she felt lost not having him with her, Lexie soon cried out in excitement and quickly placed the PADD down on the desk which made Delta jump. "It's all done Delta or at least I hope it is." Lexie stated to Delta, "What do you mean?" He asked. "I've made all the exact changes I did to the PADD that was assigned to me at the Academy, hopefully it works like it did back then. I mean, the Academy computers didn't register you." Delta could tell Lexie was doubting her own abilities, she did it often. "I'm sure it will work Lex; I trust you, besides, you know I always back up my programming before I upload myself anywhere no matter how many times I've done it." Lexie smiled at him sweetly, "Alright Delta, whenever you're ready." Delta didn't waste any time uploading himself onto the PADD and it worked.

He told Lexie that he would stay there to get used to it again, since he hadn't uploaded onto a PADD since they were at the Academy. Now all Lexie had to do was find something else to do, she then glanced over to a guitar which sat on it stand in the corner of the room, it was white and red with gold accents. She walked over to it, gently picked it up off the stand and returned to her bed. Lexie sat crossed legged and began to strum the strings, creating a tune which sounded so elegant which seemed to float around the room, singing some lyrics quietly as she played. Suddenly her door 'buzzed', Lexie quickly glanced over to her PADD, "Delta, hide!" She whispered; Delta quickly shut off the screen to make it look like the PADD was off. When she was sure he was hidden she called the person in, the door opened and in stepped the person. Lexie was shocked at who it was, "Chekov?" She questioned. "Yeah it's me." Lexie blinked a few times, "What are you doing here?" She asked. "The Captain told the command crew what happened down in Engineering, so I thought I would come and check on you." Chekov replied.

Lexie smiled as she waved him over to sit at her desk, "How are you doing?" He asked when he had sat down. "I'm alright, I wasn't hurt just got a mild case of hypothermia. Doctor McCoy said I should be fine in a few days but I can't get back to work until he gives me the all clear." Chekov smiled, "That's good, when the Captain said your name I felt my heart sink." Lexie just stared. "I know we only met the other day and that we only talked for a little while but I was wondering if you would like to be friends?" Chekov asked kindly, Lexie was surprised at what he had just asked. She blinked several times before answering, "You really would like to be friends with me?" She questioned. Chekov nodded, "Of course, you seem like such a wonderful person." Lexie smiled, "Thanks Chekov, I would love for us to be friends." Chekov smiled brightly. The two of them sat and talked for a little while, until Lexie asked Chekov a question. "Would you mind giving me a tour around the ship Chekov?" She asked, "Of course not." He replied. The two of them walked towards the door when Chekov turned to face her. "By the way, you can call me Pavel instead of using my last name." Lexie smiled, "And you can call me Lex."

The two new friends were wandering around the ship, Lexie was still in her normal clothes since she was off duty so had no reason to be in her uniform. Chekov had already shown her a lot of the ship, so decided to take her up to have a look around the bridge. "You'll have to wait in the turbo lift while I asked the Captain if you can enter onto the bridge, it's just protocol." Lexie smiled, "That's fine with me Pavel." The turbo lift doors opened and Chekov stepped out, immediately headed towards his Captain, who was surprised to see him. "Chekov, I thought you were heading off to check on Lieutenant Smith?" "I was Captain however, Lieutenant Smith asked me to give her a tour around the ship. I was wondering if it was at all possible for me to show her the bridge Sir." Kirk smiled, "Of course." Chekov turned and waved Lexie in who was amazed. "Welcome Lieutenant." She turned to face her Captain; her cheeks blushed bright red since she wasn't wearing her uniform. "Thank you Sir." Kirk smiled as he waved over another officer, who was working on the bridge, "I would like to introduce you to Lieutenant Uhura, the ships communications officer." Lexie and Uhura shook hands. "It's so nice to meet you Lieutenant." Lexie smiled. Uhura then returned to her work when Lexie saw McCoy walking over to her, "How are you doing?" He asked kindly. "Fine Doctor, I've started to warm up." She answered, that seemed to be enough for the Doctor as he simply nodded in response.

Lexie stayed on the bridge for a little while, Pavel showed her some of the ships controls and the star charts. She had surprised the navigator with her knowledge of stars, she had also surprised the Captain. It had been stated in her file that she had studied navigation at the Academy and had passed with flying colours, she had even come close to passing Chekov's score. After some time, Lexie decided to go and check on Scotty, she left the bridge with Chekov who went along to show her to the Engineers quarters but he also wanted to check up on his friend. As they walked down the halls other officers looked at her, since she was wearing her normal clothes and probably because of her eyes, but a quick glare from Chekov soon made them turned their heads away once more, it seemed that even though Chekov was just an Ensign it seemed he was respected a whole lot on the Enterprise.

The two of them turned the last corner to head down the hall where Scotty's quarters were located when Lexie saw him walking towards them with his head down, she immediately noticed the crutch in one of his hands aiding him as he limped along. 'He was hurt?' She thought to herself, Chekov could tell just by the way Lexie was staring at the Chief Engineer that she was unaware that he had been hurt. Scotty lifted his head up and when he saw the two younger officers he couldn't help but smile slightly. Lexie hurried over to him closely followed by Chekov, "Hey there lass, glad to see you're doing alright." Scotty said. "I'm alright, but what happened?" She asked him quickly, Scotty looked down at his ankle then back at Lexie still with a smile on his face. "Just sprained it that's all lass. Happened when I got me foot trapped." He answered, Lexie sighed quietly. Scotty then looked over to Chekov, "Hello lad." Chekov smiled, "Hello Sir." He replied happily.

Scotty then opened the door which they were stood in front of, "Come in you two." Scotty stepped inside, closely followed by Lexie and Chekov. The room happened to be Scotty's quarters, there were many things which looked like they were from Scotland which made the room feel homely to Lexie in an odd way, while Chekov looked around in awe, he had been in Scotty's quarters before but the décor always amazed him. Scotty sat down on his bed and waved Chekov and Lexie over to the couch which sat opposite, "I thought McCoy gave you orders to rest lass?" He asked softly. "He did however, I was running out of things to do in my room. So, when Chekov came by to check on me, I took the opportunity to ask for a tour of the ship." Scotty smiled as he glanced over to the navigator, "That was a good idea and you asked the best person, Pavel is a great lad and very smart too." Chekov blushed slightly, "I appreciate the complement Mr Scott." "So, when did you two meet then?" He asked. "We met in one of the Rec rooms just after the Enterprise had departed from Space Dock." Chekov replied.

Lexie was hoping that Chekov would keep what happened at that exact moment a secret, she didn't particularly want Scotty to know. With a single glance, Chekov could tell that she didn't wish for Scotty to know what happened however, he felt like he needed to tell him but decided not to. If Lexie wanted to tell him that was up to her, not him. Lexie then smiled brightly, "Why were you limping around? I'm sure that McCoy would have ordered you to rest?" Scotty chuckled. "He did, however I decided to take a little detour while on my way to my quarters." Chekov just glared at him, "You didn't go down to Engineering did you Mr Scott? I'm pretty sure Doctor McCoy won't be very happy if you did." Scotty threw his hands up and waved them about frantically, "No I didn't, trust me McCoy said I would regret it if I did, I went to pick up one of my technical journals." Lexie couldn't help but laugh, nor could Chekov at how nervous Scotty sounded as he tried to defend his reason for wandering the ships halls.

The three officers sat for a while just talking about random things, mainly about physics and equations since they were all pretty smart, thankfully the conversation didn't become too personal, much to Lexie's relief as she found it hard to talk about her personal life, the fact that she had told Scotty about her family's murder was enough. Soon Chekov and Lexie decided to leave Scotty be, so he could read his technical journal in peace. Chekov had convinced Lexie to join him in one of the Rec rooms to play a game of 3d chess, instead of her sitting alone in her quarters, bored out of her mind, which of course wouldn't have been the case since she had Delta there with her, but of course Chekov didn't know about her digital companion. At first Lexie had been reluctant to go and had declined the navigator's offer several times, however she was finding it hard to say no fully to Chekov, she believed it had something to do with the puppy dog eyes that the young Russian had gave her, they were so cute she believe they would even melt the heart of a Vulcan. Finally, she gave in and agreed to head to the Rec room with her new friend, Chekov was over the moon, if Lexie had said no he would only have ended up sitting alone in his own room, working on complex equations for most of his time off shift, probably ending up drinking a good amount of vodka in the process.
