After being released from the infirmary Ruby used the excuse of wearing bandages to sleep in class. But the leader of Team RECW, who was recovering from having her face caved in, was still doing better than the recently humiliated champion. Pyrrha was fuming as she had to deal with both her sponsors' needy prying about the fights and her 'team' and their general attention demanding. Cinder and Ruby however were doing fine, as if nothing happened at all. It ate Pyrrha up inside to see Cinder enjoying herself. It was only magnified when they were stuck in the same classes, "Ms. Nikos! I understand you are not one of my usual students, but for the time being y'all are in my class. So I appreciate it if you would grace me with your attention."
"Excuse me I seem to have gotten lost in my own thoughts, what was the question?"
"Ah ah ah. Grimm ain't gonna ask twice, can ya answer the question or should I give it to someone more deserving?" Lil' Miss Malachite was trying to push her buttons like everyone else. Pyrrha wanted so much to crush the large woman's skull but she held it together as she bit her tongue.
"I cannot answer, you may give it to another student."
"Well alrighty then," she muttered as she immediately smacked the back of Cinder's head and asked a completely different question to throw her off, "And what my dear was the turning point in the battle of Vacuo?"
"Ow," Cinder rubbed her head as she muttered profanity under her breath, "The turning point was when the last Queen of Vale met the Mantle forces at what is now Shade Academy. Most claim she wielded magic but it was really just a combination of fancy dust and her semblance." Lil' Miss looked satisfied but she definitely knew something was missing so Cinder added, "Though it was always an uphill battle for the Mantle forces as Vacuo recordily had the worst weather in its entire history. With some troops claiming areas of the desert were flooding while others said blizzards, and a few said the desert had somehow turned into lush forest. So there was really no turning point as it was just the end of a long and exhausting war. While simultaneously being a cautionary tale of why packing your soldiers lunches with enough amphetamines to kill a cow is a bad idea."
"While that is a colorful take on world history it is not entirely inaccurate," Lil' Miss said as she walked down the aisle to her desk before pulling out her cigarettes, "Cinder is correct. It is believed that after years of war and doping that the Mantle soldiers began hallucinating. And while some believe in the truly mystical it is usually just someone with a particularly spectacular semblance. See Ms. Schnee here, she can seeming revive the dead-"
"Well I have to personally kill the things I summon, and I haven't heard of anyone in my family summoning the de-"
"Don't ever interrupt me again, the point I was trying to make is that most of these stories about magic are just stories of incredible semblances mixing with dust. Now does that answer your question Mr. Arc." All eyes immediately turned onto Jaune, even Cinder bothered to turn Ruby's bandaged face to stare, as he had asked a question at the beginning of class that made her go on this rant.
"I asked if there was a test to identify a semblance…"
"And I gave you an answer." She said as she snapped her fingers causing a flame to appear lighting her cigarette. It was as if she timed the entire thing so the bell would ring right at the end kicking them out of class. Jaune chased after Cinder as she led Ruby out.
"Long class today, huh," Jaune tried to strike up a conversation as Cinder intentionally walked Ruby into things.
"Yep," as Ruby walked into a water fountain Cinder commented, "What did I say about asking questions?"
"To ask fewer…" Jaune looked at the ground, "Wait! That wasn't a real question, I was just making conversation."
"I meant during class, these questions always end up with someone getting extra work." Cinder pointed out nonchalantly.
"I don't know why you're complaining you gave the right answer off the top of your head."
"It is the only fact about history she knows." Ruby called as she pushed against a wall certain it was a door. Jaune turned to Cinder as she shrugged it off, Jaune however pursed his lips as he furrowed his brow. Cinder shook it off as a joke before she inquired.
"I'm taking Ruby to get the bandages off. Wanna come?"
"Uh no, I think I'm going to go lift weights." Jaune deflected as he was certain Cinder would force him to anyway.
"Ooh getting big and strong, cannot wait Vomit boy!" Ruby called as she finally managed to open the wall.
"Ignore her, I'm sure you'll be small forever." Cinder tried and failed to compliment him.
"Thanks…" Cinder didn't listen when she dragged away Ruby. Ruby would have made fun of her if she could see the slightest twinge of red through her layers of coverup. Jaune shook his head as the sisters fled. But when Jaune heard a snicker he turned to come face to face with the scarlet girl, "It's not polite to spy on other people's conversations."
"Excuse me I only heard the tail end of that… Roasting?" Pyrrha wasn't sure what to call Cinder and Jaune's relationship but she was definitely going to use it against her, "Can I ask why you let her walk all over you like that?"
"She's my friend and coincidentally she hasn't put any of my other friends in the hospital in the last week."
"But she has hurt them more than a week ago?"
"That's not important! Look what do you want, and I mean what do you really want?"
"Well I couldn't help but hear-"
"Eavesdrop."
"HEAR! That you know where someone could go to lift weights." Jaune sighed as he knew where this was going.
"Fine. I'll show you where the gym is."
"Why, that would be wonderful." Jaune got a feeling that Pyrrha was just a more evil and less subtle version of Cinder.
Cinder did not understand why they let Ruby out of the infirmary before removing the bandages, but now that she had healed enough they wanted her back to remove them. But when they arrived they were greeted by the same uncaring nurse, "Hello... Lavern, I brought Ruby back to get her bandages removed."
"Mmmmhuh," Lavern didn't even react to Cinder as she slid a clipboard over to her. It required all the patient information that they didn't get from her the first time. Cinder narrowed her eyes as she took it and Ruby to a seat so she could fill it out. Name: Ruby Rose, Age: 12, Height: 4'2", Hair: Brown, Eyes: Grey, Blood: Red, Emergency Contact: This is where Cinder stumbled.
"Ruby, who's your emergency contact's number?" For Cinder it was Tyrian and Ruby, as they could be easily contacted in an emergency. So she never really thought about it for Ruby, and decided to take the time for a grown up lesson.
"00101010."
"Wait, who's numb-"
"Ruby Rose." Cinder didn't get to ask as the doctor called Ruby in. Ruby shot up to him as she was avoiding the conversation with Cinder. Cinder got up with a huff as she followed but the doctor stopped her and pointed out.
"Miss, It's family only beyond this point." Cinder rolled her eyes before she explained.
"I am her sister."
"Can you confirm that?" The doctor turned to Ruby as she plotted an evil scheme.
"I have never met this woman in my life."
"That's not true! Ruby I changed your diapers for 3 years if you don't-"
"She is threatening me! I do not feel safe with her here."
"Very well, we will have to escort you out ma'am."
"Wait- No- Stop!" Cinder shouted as she was carried out by several of the security guards. When she was out the door they tossed her on the ground before returning to the hospital and blocking the door, "Hey, wait a minute! That 's my sister in there and I need to be there for her!"
"They must think you look like the laundry thief." The Janitor said as he leaned on his mop. Cinder turned to him confused.
"What? I didn't steal any laundry."
"Sure you did, face caved in girls things."
"You gave them to me!"
"Did I? It almost seems like a conspiracy. I mean who could gain from taking something that so rightfully belonged to me- I mean the patient?" He said so clearly trying to antagonize her.
"Did you tell them I stole it because you wanted a little girls dress?"
"No, I was going to trade the dress to Eddie, my taxidermy guy, for a full family of cats. And now that I don't have it he's going to send the still living ones to collect my flesh. I hope you're happy." Cinder was dumbstruck as she was sure this Janitor was either drunk or insane. Then his watch rang and he chimed, "Smoke breaks over gotta get back to work."
The Janitor hefted a fire extinguisher and doused a trashcan fire before he walked through the guards as he went back inside as he did the 'I'm watching you gesture'. Cinder had no way to explain any of this as she was certain she was the one that got probably minor brain damage. But shaking off whatever the Janitor was drinking, Cinder had too many questions, so she may as well start with the foreign number Ruby gave her.
The gym was in what Jaune could guess an old coliseum. Instead of it having the dirt floor it was replaced with some form of linoleum. Then it had hundreds of different machines scattered around with several boxing rings in the middle. None of the machines were new; they all had a mixture of rust and fresh coats of lead paint. The coliseum was nice enough he just wished there was a roof. It always sucked when it rained… Eve made him keep working no matter what.
"I have to admit I'm a bit underwhelmed."
"Well I'll take what I can get." Jaune muttered as he began looking for Eve. When he didn't find her he was forced to do today by himself.
"So where should we start? Boxing perhaps?"
"What? No! I would rather not be your punching bag-"
"Ooh, then would you like to lift weights? Squats or Bench?"
"Stop that! I brought you here, now workout on your own!" Jaune ordered as he moved to a bench and began racking weights. Pyrrha on the other hand had gone for several dumbbells and began swinging them wildly. That looked ridiculous. Jaune thought as he lifted the barbell, it was 200 pounds but after working out with Eve and Arslan he was beginning to grow. Everything was going fine until 10 sets later when he ran out of steam. Jaune began to panic thinking he's going to have to toss it over his side until the bar lifted back onto the bench. Pyrrha stood over him and as she stared him in the eyes he knew what was coming.
"Pretty good for a beginner. Although you could pace yourself more," Pyrrha reassured him like the others had.
"Yeah I know. Pace myself…" Jaune said as he sat up looking away from her.
"Great, now spot me." She practically shoved him off the bench as she went into her set. It was much easier for her as if this was her warmup. Then again that's how Eve warmed up, a few hundred pounds at a time. She did the same number of sets Jaune did without needing help, before she moved back to her dumbbells. Doing the same motions she was before causing Jaune to think about it.
"What are you doing?"
"Swinging them like they are my weapons to strengthen the muscles I actually use." The explanation she gave was simple but they were definitely balanced different from her weapons. Jaune however picked up two weights as well and began swinging all the same. Pyrrha didn't even pause when she corrected him, "You're stance is off."
"What? No, I'm fine I just-"
"You're a man, your center of gravity is higher," Putting down her weights she walked over to him and forced his legs apart, "If you were a woman your stance would be correct. But I assume you're not. You are also holding that wrong." The way she corrected him was much kinder than she had been when she was fighting. But while Pyrrha seemed nice she was only helping him to get at Cinder as she seemed to have a vested interest in him.
Weiss was impressed for once Eve actually showed up to class on time and she actually seemed to be paying attention. Granted it was Junior's class so it was a mixture of both important information and weak stuttering. How had he become a teacher? But towards the end of class Weiss noticed that Eve hadn't moved her pose for half the class. Then she noticed Eve was shaking…
"Do you really think it's appropriate to do that in the middle of class?"
"Yes, he hasn't said anything new for the last hour."
"I don't know why you bother showing up for class."
"I can't workout today and I thought there was a test…" Weiss just shook her head as she didn't know how her teammate was passing the class. But before she could ask, the bell rang and they all streamed out of class. Weiss made her way to the library to study as there was a one in five chance Ruby and Cinder were doing something loud in the dorm. What she wasn't expecting was Eve to follow her there, "Okay, now what are you doing?"
"I don't have anything else to do today."
"Really, Nothing?" Weiss absolutely stated knowing full well that this isn't true, "No paper due for Professor Peach's class or diorama for Professor Torchwick's class?"
"No, I did both of those already."
"What! When!"
"The same time you were doing it." Eve muttered under her breath as Weiss was scrutinizing every detail about her. Eve looked like she wanted to retreat but sat there as Weiss went through a plethora of emotions.
"Then why are you following me?"
"Well you finished all the work as well so I figured we could hang out," Eve looked like a puppy begging for attention as Weiss was trying to slap it down, "It's fine I'll go find something else to do."
"Wait," Weiss was usually the one hanging onto people so it was odd for someone to want to be near her, "I guess we could, hang. But I still have work to do so-"
"Isn't that next week's work? How do you have that already?"
"Not important. I guess we can go do things… But only if you promise they aren't dirty."
"I can make no such promises." Eve stared Weiss down knowing full well what she had planned. Weiss turned from scowl to rising terror as she watched the larger girl.
When Cinder was stressed she worked on her car. Which was damaged in a car chase, which in itself was stressful. That meant she had to pound out the dents, melt the bullet holes back together then respray all the scratched off paint. It was even a custom blend that she had to spend hours mixing to get it just right. This process was tedious and would take forever but she figured since she had to repair it anyway why not upgrade it as well.
Cinder had recently bought parts from a reliable source… A deranged source… Neo, she had bought parts from Neo. She however made sure not to ask where the parts came from for fear of the answer. Now all she needed to do was tear apart her car and frankenstein it back together. The problem was she didn't exactly have a workshop to do all of this. All the body shops in Vale wouldn't let her do it herself and Beacon wasn't well known for cars. She was stumped which is why she had been putting it off for so the number Ruby gave her came with a surprise, "Yes there is a garage in my dorm."
"Do you think I could so happen to use it for the day?"
"Father told me that I am not allowed to have friends over."
"Well then you're in luck we're not friends yet." And that was all it took for Cinder to get a one time pass to use the garage on one of the Atlas ships. May was ever so helpful in facilitating this. It was full of what could only be described as the most well stocked military grade equipment ever. So it was both shiny and crap.
"And you live on this ship?"
"For the time being. Father is very protective of me. He doesn't want me get-"
"That's cool, do you think there is any way he will notice if I take apart one of those Mantas?" Cinder said knowing full well the answer was no.
"I assume it would not go unnoticed, however there are several spare engines if you would prefer to take them apart instead." May not only answered her question but presented her with an even better alternative.
"May, I am glad you're dating my sister."
"What is that?"
"Ah right, robot…" Cinder muttered to herself as she looked at May, knowing full well this girl would be tiring. Cinder however could use the mechanical hands of the experimental child super soldier so she was going to need to answer as many questions as she was asked, "Well dating is when two people go out of their way to see each other."
"Oh, then I am dating your sister." Cinder could only smile as she knew that one would come back to bite her later. But right now was car time. May helped Cinder take it apart as they began to do the least proper maintenance possible. When they actually finished the repairs May inquired what is next.
"Well… I mean. Do you think we could fit a G-engine in the trunk?"
"Not a full size one but definitely something smaller. The problems that come with that is that the smaller variant is more for personal jetpacks and would be too weak to lift the car. And even if it got off the ground it would still lack thrust. So you would be getting a floating car at best." Cinder, never one to give up, began to spark several ideas.
"How large are the personal ones?"
For once Jaune felt like training was actually helping. Instead of just being exhausted and physically broken he felt like he was actually ready for combat. Like the specialization made him feel he was growing the proper muscles and building his stance over his mismatched training from the girls. That probably explains why Pyrrha didn't look excessively muscular when the rest of the woman around him looked like the hulk. She actually trained what she needed to, not the appearance of what she needed.
"Hey," Jaune was hesitant to thank her after what she did to Ruby, "Thanks for the help."
"It's fine. I needed to find this place anyway," she smiled in a nice way that made her seem almost normal… That's right she isn't normal she had the pressure of being a champion placed on her shoulders. That had to take a toll, "It was nice to have someone to work out with again."
"I wouldn't mind doing it again…"
"Really? I wouldn't want to be a burden on you."
"No it's fine. My old workout buddies were lunatics so this works out well for me…"
"Well then, I will see you tomorrow."
"Yeah…" they waved as they separated to shower and change. Jaune was used by everyone he had come into contact with at Beacon so it was nice to actually have someone who wanted to be around him. Pyrrha was just glad he was foolish enough to not realize she was using him. He was the perfect ticket to get back at Cinder, she didn't know how she would do it but it would be good. When Jaune and Pyrrha walked out of the Coliseum they were surprised to find the RoadRunner waiting there for him.
"Get in bitch we're going shopping!"
"Isn't it a little late to go shopping?"
"I don't know but Eve and Weiss wanted a ride so they could go on their date!"
"It's not a date! We're just going to get dresses for the dance."
"So why do you need me?"
"Because I hate clothes shopping," Eve and Cinder declared in accidental harmony. Pyrrha took this chance to get an easy victory.
"Well it looks like your friends are here, I guess I'll see you the next time we workout."
"Huh yeah sure." Jaune absentmindedly said as he walked over to the car. Pyrrha hadn't said it for him though as the only one to take notice was Cinder. When Pyrrha was out of range she had to ask.
"What were you doing with Miss Crown-less?"
"Oh she was helping me workout…"
"But that's our special time Jaune." Eve pleaded from the back seat.
"Yeah, well I'd really prefer to not have my muscles contorted into a pretzel!"
It felt like it had taken hours but after several check ups and scans Ruby was finally getting the bandages off. As they were getting unwrapped the little light breaking through was sharp and felt like daggers going straight into her eyes. It was slow as the unwrapping felt like it took ages with every little layer coming off at an incredibly sluggish pace. But when they were finally off Ruby immediately noticed something was wrong. Everything was blurry.
"What happened?"
"Well, there was a chance your retina's were damaged so we did several deep brain scans, and well…" He trailed off in such a way that she was certain he was going to tell her that she could no longer be a huntress, "We found something…"
"Spit it out I cannot exactly see what you are saying!" Ruby had a mixture of dull feelings that she was certainly not used to. But as the blurriness faded she saw something take shape in front of her, a silhouette of her skull.
"We found a tumor in one of your scans." Ruby's eyes went wide as she heard the most unspeakable thing, yet the doctor continued, "It was fairly large for a tumor of this type and we-" Ruby stopped listening as what the doctor said made her want to barf. She wouldn't live to be twenty much less through the rest of the year. She would have to spend it all in a hospital and she would never get to go on adventures with her friends… Gods what about Cinder! Ruby wanted to cry for the first time in who knows how long. She would never be there for her sister, and there was nothing either of them could do. She'd never be able to protect her friends from monsters or each other; she was about to leave them alone. Unknown to her the silver in her eyes was growing and becoming more pronounced.
"How long do I have?"
"Years, we were initially worried but after several injections we were able to determine it was benign. The problem stems from removal…"
"What? Am I not dying?"
"Well you were very lucky. We were able to find it and inject you with several doses of a new dust based compound that shrunk it. " Even if it wasn't growing she still had a tumor in her skull probably killing her.
"So I will live?"
"For a while, and we may even be able to shrink it some more…" The way he had talked the entire time came full view to Ruby as she began to suspect something was up.
"Just say it doc."
"Well the placement of the tumor prevents several pathways for hormones."
"Is that a bad thing?"
"Well you've likely lost most emotions from it…" And there it was the perfect explanation. The reason why she was like that, and now they would tell her they could operate and remove it, "Currently it is inoperable but with several more rounds of injections we could shrink it to be more manageable. The problem is the placement, we can't really get to it. It's been there for years and well I don't expect we will find an operation in your lifetime…"
"So I will survive?"
"For a while at least…" Ruby could tell the next part coming would be the part that topped the cake, "You may want to reconsider your line of work-"
"What does that mean?"
"Well you will likely need multiple injections a year and not every backwoods clinic will have them. Hell the only reason we have them is because Beacon was trying to see if we could inject them into students bones to give them more firepower." Ruby was silent; she didn't know what to do. She wanted to tell everyone and no one at the same time. She was powerless to change what was happening and yet she still had to act.
"I will think about it. Just give me some time…"
"You don't have much Ms. Rose but I pray you understand how important this decision is." Outside of the room the janitor grinned as he listened in.
"I thought you loved shopping?" Weiss said as she sorted through hundreds of dresses in the nicest shop in Vale. Everyone aside from her was awestruck as they walked through the palace of a shop. It was white and gold with a look that screamed Victorian and only the rich shop here.
"I don't know what gave you that idea. I sew practically all of my clothing," Cinder said as she flippantly fingered through several dresses. She wasn't going to get one; she was really just there for moral support. Eve was the one they were turning into a doll; dressing her up as if she had never worn a proper dress before. Which made a shocking amount of sense.
"Can you not choose something so revealing?" Eve stepped out in an open back dress that she was wearing the wrong way. With just the little strings holding the dress together barely covering the important things Eve practically presented herself to Jaune sitting right out of the dressing room
"PFFFFTPH!" Jaune spit out the complimentary drink as he got an eyeful.
"Eve you have that on backwards!" Weiss screamed as she was rushing to shove the taller girl back into the dressing room. Cinder came rushing over just too late to see anything. While she was a friend she was the only one that had yet to be flashed by the taller girl.
"I do not understand why I need such a fancy dress! They all look the same to me!" Eve called from inside the changing room.
"Because you need to look your best and I will be damned if one of my friends is dressed like a fat bumpkin at such a fine event. Take Ruby for example-"
"Be very careful about what you say next."
"The only reason she wears nice clothes is because Cinder forces them on her," Cinder semi nodded in acknowledgement as she took some responsibility for her sister's wardrobe, "So I know I don't have to worry about her dress, but if I know you. Then I suspect you were planning on going in a suit that is ill fitting and stolen from Jaune here."
"Is that why I'm here?"
"Hush. So as your best friend I'm going to make sure that you look presentable for everyone at the dance." Weiss was much stronger willed when she was planning something so there was no way that she didn't have something up her sleeve now.
"Alright…" Eve muttered through the curtain as she removed the dress and began moving to the next one. By this point Jaune was exhausted and needed to escape the girls.
"I'm gonna get some air…" He got up and wandered his way through the maze of a store until he got to a large balcony overlooking the street. It was a nice mix of cars, streetlights and banners for the Vytal Festival. However there was something odd about how this city functioned, some streets were old brick from before the war and some were built as new as last week. It sort of feels like home, yet all the tall buildings were a divergence from what he was used to.
"Nice night huh?" Cinder asked as she appeared right next to him.
"And what was that about questions? Not to ask them." Jaune muttered to himself as he was spending the day with three girls doing their bidding instead of sleeping on the floor of his dorm. Which was also their fault… Cinder for her part just remained silent as she looked out over the street. It was calm for them even if it wasn't on the street below.
"How's Ru-"
"What were you doing with Pyrrha?" Cinder cut him off determined to bleed him for all the information that she could.
"Wha-"
"You were with her earlier, right. Why? Did she ask you out? It's probably not a good idea to associate with her. She will probably lose and take that out on the people around her-"
"What! No, stop! I get you're mad about what happened to Ruby but that doesn't mean that you can just write her off like she's nothing!"
"Look Jaune I'm just trying to look out for you is all. I've seen her type before and the second they lose-"
"They go mad and kill everyone around them? Do they start abusing people around them, treating them like slaves? Or is it that you are worried that I will decide I like her more than I value being your slave?" Jaune was gripping the railing as he was waiting for Cinder to reply.
"No, I just mean that she doesn't care about you. She is using you to get at me-"
"Really because no girl could ever like me for me. I must just be so terrible that I repel every one of them right!" Jaune moved to stare her down but what he found was anger or superiority; it was the look of worry she always gives Ruby.
"Jaune, she's using you to get at me." Cinder stated as he glared her down. But Jaune wasn't going to take it as he shook his head and turned away.
"Because I revolve around you and nothing I do actually matters. Well I hate to break it to you I don't," Cinder was stunned not just that Pyrrha had gotten her claws into him so quickly more that at the drop of a hat he was so willing to turn on her, "You need to get that ego under control and realize that you don't control me."
"Jaune-"
"No, I'm done. You want a slave, go find someone else but I'm not gonna be yours anymore." He said as he hopped the railing and landed in the street below. Cinder was a mix of happiness that he had learned that from her and worried how Pyrrha had so easily gotten into him. Cinder plotted for a minute before she knew what she had to do. When she returned to the others she found Weiss was buying Eve's dress at checkout.
"It's a bit expensive, I don't think this is such a good-"
"Hush. It's my treat I won't have my friends showing up in rags. Right Cinder."
"Just to spite you I'm going to make Ruby's dress out of rags." Weiss narrowed her eyes into a glare as she was sure that dress would probably be the most stunning at the even.
"Great now where's Jaune?"
"He left early determined not to carry our bags for us." Cinder said with a smile trying to hide what she was really feeling right now.
It took far longer than he had expected but Jaune managed to make his way back to Beacon without throwing up on the shuttle back. It was nice considering it was nearly midnight but that didn't mean that he could give up yet. He still had one last thing to do before bed. He made his way through the dorm until he ended up in front of the transfers rooms. He gave a quick little knock loud yet discreet, followed by swearing and the sound of someone falling out of a bed. Yet there was no sound when the door cracked open slightly with the latch still over to reveal the green pajama boy, "Is there something I can do for you at," checking the clock just inside of the door, "1 am?"
"Uh, yes. is Pyrrha there?"
"Yes." The man answered without moving a muscle. He also made no move to call for her.
"Well can I talk to her?" He took one look behind him when he turned back and replied.
"No."
"Well alright..."
"Who is it Ren?"
"A blonde boy."
"Scrawny and looks sort of girly?"
"Yes."
"I'll be right there." This time he heard the click of heels as Pyrrha pushed Ren out of the way, "What do you need at this time of night? Special training, if you give me a few minutes I can be right out."
"No! I was just wondering... If you don't have a date for the dance then if you would go with me?"
"Ah that... Well I haven't been asked by anyone yet so I don't think it will be a problem." Jaune just looked at her through the crack in the door half expecting a no but she was beating around the bush. When she realized that he didn't under stand she continued, "Yes, I will go with you to the dance."
"Really?"
"Yes."
"Then I'll see you then!" He shouted as he ran down the hall probably waking more than a few sleeping people. Inside of the room Ren got back into bed where Nora immediately began to cuddle back up to him. It would be cute if Pyrrha wasn't sure they had killed hundreds of people before. Their 'leader' however was nowhere to be seen.
"Cute date?" Nora inquired from her position.
"He will be very useful for the plan."
"Great." Ren muttered as he tried to get comfortable while the pink gremlin treated him like a body pillow.
When they got back to the dorm Ruby was already sleeping. Cinder determined to get information climbed up Weiss's bed and began poking her sister. The pokes were slowly getting stronger as she activated her semblance about to burn the poor girl when she spoke up, "I am awake."
"Great, how was surgery?"
"It was on the first day, they just removed the bandages today."
"Well let's see then." Cinder said as she tried to roll her sister over. Ruby however resisted as she was trying to sleep. Zwei peaked his head out from Ruby's arms as she held him to her chest. He licked her a few times.
"No stop, betraying me." Ruby muttered as she was powerless to stop him before Cinder yanked her sister so they came eye to eye. Cinder gasped as she caught a glimpse of her sister. There fresh on her sister's face was a jagged scar from the left temple across her right eye to the right cheek with a single tendril splitting off going down over her nose.
"Ruby, this is-"
"Bad, I know. But it is just skin deep, I am fine otherwise." Weiss peeked at the little leader as she gave a little gasp as well. Eve was the only one not to be in shock as she gave it a little nod. Cinder didn't know where to start, this was the first scar either of them had gotten and it wasn't a small one or anything.
"It could be worse," Cinder commented as she tried to help in the only way she knew how, "You could have lost the eye as well."
"Cinder!" Weiss chastised as she tried to comfort their leader, "It's hardly noticeable. I'm sure with a few layers-"
"I think it looks badass," Eve declared as she climbed into bed, "Battle scars are the true sign of a good warrior. They show what you were able to survive and walk away from."
"Thank you. At least one of you knows how it is!" Ruby declared as she rolled back over and buried her face in the fluff of Zwei. Cinder didn't know how to help so she just placed a hand on her sister's back.
"Okay, well if you need to talk then I'm-"
"Passed midnight, we have classes tomorrow, I do not want to." Ruby listed off as she tried to get them to sleep. Cinder grimaced as she changed and climbed into her bed as well. The reason Ruby wasn't looking at them was that she didn't have it in her to tell them about the tumor. Not right now at least.
Yang and Blake were going at it again as Ozpin was certain they would be unable to work together in the long run. He just needed them to work together for the time being until one or both of them ran out of use. Then disposing of them would be easy. His mood however changed when he got a message from his informant.
"One of the parasites you planted still remains and is at Beacon."
That regardless of what was happening around him was good news. It would be one less silver eyed moron running around with a Grimm nuke strapped to their face. Now all they needed to do was activate it.
Sorry for taking a while with this one I never feel like writing when a season drawls to a close. Sorry about the quality of this one I really rushed it as I didn't have many ideas about this chapter. Next one will be much better. Hopefully.
I wanted to make sure Pyrrha remained angry while scheming against Cinder and that was all I had. Otherwise the rest of it was just making it up as I go.
I am not certain the next chapter will be the dance but I do know it will be soon... Within 2 chapters. Also my next work probably won't be the next chapter, it will likely be a oneshot I came up with that I really want to make. It won't be that long but it will be funny enough.
