Ch 02: Admission
Midoriya opened the door slowly, shuffling his feet slightly to rid himself of his shoes, setting down his keys and wallet and padding quietly into the house. Todoroki glanced up from the couch as Midoriya entered the living room, getting up from the plush cushions and approaching him slowly, a thick blanket wrapped over his shoulders like a shawl. Midoriya could barely look at him, his ears tucked back, a soft whine trapped in his throat. His head ached, and his eyes were sore from crying. Todoroki frowned a little, reaching up and cupping his cheek gently, petting over his freckles and shushing him gently.
"Baby? Izuku, sweetheart, what's wrong?"
"I fucked up." Midoriya laughed softly, and it was a broken, tearful sound. "I'm so sorry Sho. I lost control. I didn't...I shouldn't have…"
"Hey, shh…" Todoroki tugged him closer, wrapping his arms around his shoulders, Midoriya inhaling shakily and hiding his face against his mate's neck. "Sweetheart…"
"I'm sorry. I'm sorry." He sobbed, holding on Todoroki tightly, so afraid of what was about to happen, so afraid of what Todoroki would think once he knew. "I love you Shouto. I love you so, so much…"
Todoroki pulled back a bit, meeting his eyes, frowning deeper and pressing a hand against his forehead. "Izuku, you have a fever. Are you in rut?"
Midoriya blinked slowly, arching his brow and nodding. "Yeah."
Todoroki took his hand, guiding him towards their bedroom, pushing the door open quietly and tugging him towards the bed. "Can you tell me what happened?" He asked gently, crawling into bed and pulling Midoriya down beside him, the Alpha curling up against his chest. He continued to card his fingers soothingly through Midoriya's hair, purring softly and holding him close, the Alpha relaxing hesitantly and pressing his face to Todoroki's throat.
"I'm scared." Midoriya whispered softly, Todoroki finding one of his hands, smoothing his thumb across Midoriya's scarred knuckles sweetly. "I don't want you to hate me, I don't want you to...want to leave…"
"I'm not going anywhere." Todoroki whispered, carding his fingers through Midoriya's dark hair, his thoughts drifting through various possibilities as he cast his eyes towards the curtained window nearby. "Tell me?"
Midoriya nodded, exhaling shakily, tucking his ears flat as he spoke. "I marked Katsuki."
Todoroki's movements stilled only for a moment before he resumed petting through Midoriya's hair, finding the edge of one of his ears and rubbing circles against the curve there soothingly. "Alright. I can understand why you would be upset by that. I'm certain it happened in the moment, that you did so without thinking…"
Midoriya lifted up his head, his expression torn, his brow arched. "I love you. I'm bonded to you. I should never have marked him. I'm so sorry Shouto…"
"Hey." Todoroki whispered, tracing over his nose and cheeks. "I know you love me, Izuku. I have no doubt in my mind that you adore me, and cherish me. I know that, despite my presentation as a beta, you want for nothing else. You mean everything to me."
"You mean everything to me too." Midoriya whispered, kissing at Todoroki's fingertips, his breaths shaky and anxious, his brow still arched.
Todoroki watched him carefully, tilting one of his ears to the side. "What else, Izuku? Tell me everything."
Midoriya whined softly, glancing up tentatively and meeting Todoroki's eyes. This was a sore subject they had breached before, and the conversation never ended well. It was one of the things Todoroki was most uncertain about, that he held the least confidence because of. It was something that couldn't be helped, solely due to the fact that he was a beta. He would never be able to carry Midoriya's pups.
"Shouto." Midoriya whispered softly, searching his eyes. "I...I need you to understand. When I was growing up with Katsu, I thought that we were destined to be together. When we both presented, and I was an Alpha, instead of an omega, I thought that it had ended all hope for us. Bakugou was a beta, he held no interest in having an Alpha for a mate." He exhaled shakily, his tone soft. "He never wanted to be around me, never wanted to let me close."
Todoroki nodded, watching him closely, waiting for Midoriya to continue, to explain what he meant.
Midoriya bit his lip, worrying it roughly. Todoroki could see it was already starting to bruise. "I pushed that feeling deep down inside of me, kept it trapped somewhere in the back of my heart, but it…" He closed his eyes, shivering, his words desperate and torn, "It's never faded away. He was my first love, Shouto. I love you more than anything, but you know I still have feelings for Katsuki. A part of me will always belong to him."
"I know that." Todoroki whispered gently, carding his fingers through Midoriya's hair again, searching his teary green eyes. "You don't have to feel guilty for marking him, Izuku. You don't have to worry about the feelings you have for him, I understand they will always be there inside of you. I am glad you were able to be there for Bakugou when he needed you. It's alright, you don't have to be afraid. I'm not going to leave you."
Midoriya choked on a sob, ducking his head, squeezing Todoroki's fingers tightly. "It's more than that, Sho. It's-" He let out a frustrated growl, tears beginning to slip down his cheeks. "He...he wanted me to, he asked me to…" He shook his head, starting over again, "No that's, that's not what I want to say. I wanted to, it wasn't just him. I wanted to, I wanted to…"
Todoroki watched his mate's expression, putting the pieces together, a soft sound escaping his throat. "Izuku. Did you…?"
Midoriya nodded miserably, hiding his face against Todoroki's chest. "I'm sorry, Shouto. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to, it just happened, but then...it happened again, and again…"
"You bred him multiple times? Are you certain?" Todoroki sat up a bit, looking down at Midoriya, the Alpha searching his eyes hesitantly, his ears flat against his skull. "Izuku, are you certain?"
"Yes." Midoriya whispered, swallowing thickly under Todoroki's piercing eyes. "I felt my spurs release. We were aligned perfectly. His belly was distended, swollen where his womb would be. I...I definitely sired pups."
Todoroki blinked slowly, shifting from the bed, getting up and leaving Midoriya alone in the bedroom, heading quickly towards the living room down the hall. Midoriya covered his mouth with his hand, trembling and clutching at the sheets, Todoroki calling softly, "Give me a moment, Izuku. I'm not leaving, I just...I need a moment to process this. Okay?"
Midoriya sniffed and nodded, closing his eyes and turning his face into the closest pillow, letting out a muffled sob. Faintly he could hear Todoroki on the phone, speaking to someone. What had he done. What had he done?

"Are you with Bakugou?" Todoroki asked worriedly, Kirishima stepping up to the front door, unlocking it quickly and letting himself inside, walking down the hallway towards the bedroom.
"I just got home. Thank you so much for letting me stay with you, Todo. Really, it meant a lot to me, both of you being there for us."
"Eijirou. I need you to listen to me."
Kirishima paused, his hand extended towards the bedroom door, taking a step back and arching his brow. Todoroki rarely ever called him by his complete first name. "I'm listening, Todo. What's wrong? Did something happen?"
Todoroki was quiet for a moment, as if trying to formulate the words. "Izuku is in rut. He synchronized with Bakugou's heat."
Kirishima nodded absently, glancing towards the door again, "Ah! I'm sorry, it isn't his usual cycle is it? It must have come early, being here with Katsu-"
"Eiji." Todoroki said quietly, and Kirishima's words came to an abrupt halt. "You need to go to the pharmacy first thing in the morning. You need an emergency contraceptive. A strong one, considering this is Bakugou's first heat in years that we know of, and he's already been under for three days."
Kirishima blushed lightly, biting his lip, "Is that really necessary? I mean, obviously they've been having sex to help with Bakugou's heat, but-"
"Izuku slipped into rut while Bakugou was out of his mind with fever, begging for his knot. Begging for pups, Eiji."
Kirishima was quiet, his breath catching in his throat, realizing what Todoroki was saying. He opened the door to the bedroom carefully, his eyes drifting towards the bed. His mate was on his side, curled in on himself and crying softly, half-buried beneath blankets and pillows. Midoriya must have helped him build a nest before heading home.
"Eiji? Do you understand?"
He made a soft sound of affirmation, swallowing thickly before replying. "I'll call you later, Todo." Kirishima whispered, exchanging a quiet goodbye before letting the phone slip from his ear, padding towards the bed slowly. He crawled into the nest, listening to Bakugou sniffing and trying to muffle his crying the best he could, the beta pressing up against his back and kissing his shoulder gently. "Katsu? Hey, babe…" He purred softly, trying to soothe him, offering what comfort he could. "Are you feeling any better now? Are you in any pain?"
Bakugou shook his head slowly, curling in on himself a bit further, his ears completely flat. He didn't move, didn't turn around to face his mate. Instead he kept his face hidden, his arms wrapped around his middle, Kirishima's eyes drifting down his frame. He was trembling. Kirishima had never seen him like this before.
"Easy, baby. C'mere. Everything's going to be okay."
"No it's not." Bakugou whimpered, his breath catching in his throat as Kirishima slowly wrapped his arms around him, tugging him back against his chest, shushing him gently. "Why do I fuck up everything?" He whispered vehemently, a low growl stuttering in his throat. "I messed up so bad this time, Eiji. I can't believe I made such a huge mistake. I'm such a fuck up, I'm such a miserable fuck up…"
"Hey, breathe for me Katsuki. You hear me? Breathe." He pet along his mate's side, purring and nuzzling against his nape, kissing at his shoulder and hugging him tightly. "You're not a fuck up, don't say things like that okay? I just want you to be safe, and healthy. I don't care about anything else but that. Nothing else matters."
Bakugou twisted slightly, glancing back over his shoulder at his mate, searching his eyes, "You're going to hate me-"
"No. Absolutely not." Kirishima whispered, searching his eyes, his brow arched. "What are you talking about, babe? Just because you're an omega? Do you really think I would care about something like that?"
"Izuku marked me." Bakugou sobbed softly, shaking his head, trying to break away from Kirishima and curl in on himself again. "I asked him to, I made him do it-"
"Shh…" Kirishima soothed gently, rubbing along his back, shifting up so he could lean over Bakugou and look down at him, kissing his temple and wet cheek. "Listen to me, Katsu. Whatever happened between you and Midoriya tonight, that doesn't change anything between you and me. Do you understand me?"
Bakugou shook his head, sobbing harder than before, his ears pinned back, his whole body trembling. "I feel sick. I'm going to be sick."
Kirishima helped him up carefully, taking him to the bathroom and setting him down before the toilet, rubbing his back as he hunched over and heaved into the bowl over and over again. He brought him water once he was done, trying to coax him back into bed, but Bakugou just shook his head, laying down on the cold tile floor, crying quietly. Kirishima lay down beside him, wrapping his arm around him again, noting the bloody mark on his shoulder now that he was laying down on the opposite side, eyeing the wound and letting out a soft sigh before opting to speak.
"You wanted him to mark you? He didn't...he didn't force you?"
Bakugou shivered, swallowing thickly, shaking his head. "I don't...I don't know. I don't really remember. It's all just a blur."
Kirishima nodded slowly, perking his ears towards his mate gingerly. "Todoroki made it sound like Midoriya was pretty upset about everything as well." He paused for a moment, then asked hesitantly, "Did I make a mistake, asking him to help you through this…? I'm sorry, I just...you were suffering, and I didn't know who else to call."
Bakugou hesitated, nodding a bit, making a soft sound of understanding, tears trailing down his cheeks. "No, you did everything you could. I'm sorry I never told you before."
Kirishima watched him, rubbing his back gently. "I love you, Katsu."
Bakugou hiccuped on a sob, reaching back and clinging to one of Kirishima's hands desperately, his knuckles turning white. "I love you too."
-x-x-x-
Todoroki paced the hallway quietly, his thick, fuzzy socks barely making any sound as he circled back and forth, his mind reeling. He didn't know what to do, what to say. He was completely at a loss.
He had agreed to this. He had given Midoriya permission to go to Bakugou, to help him through his heat. Anyone with any common sense knew that meant they were going to have sex. It was obviously what Bakugou needed as an omega. He needed to be knotted for roughly a week until his fever finally broke, and his uncontrollable, insatiable urges began to subside.
Midoriya had only been gone three days. Bakugou was still in heat, and Midoriya was in a faux rut in response. He had slipped into rut because of Bakugou, he had marked him, had bred him multiple times over several days. It was almost impossible that Bakugou wasn't already pregnant. Emergency contraceptives would practically be useless this far into his heat. Todoroki couldn't fathom it, couldn't wrap his head around it. It stood there stark against the backdrop of his mind, a neon, blaring sign, like an ice pick through his skull.
His mate had sired pups with Bakugou.
Of course he did. Why wouldn't he have? It's only natural for an Alpha to want to sire pups, especially with an omega.
Todoroki closed his eyes, fighting off the voice in the back of his mind, swallowing thickly and continuing to pace.
You won't even consider the possibility of adoption, and he is a young, handsome, virile Alpha male. Did you really expect him to just be happy with you? To be content with you? What are you even good for? What does he see in you? You're nothing compared to Bakugou.
"He loves me." Todoroki whispered aloud, shaking out his hands and clenching them twice before shaking out his hands again, his fingers feeling tingly and numb. "He's devoted. He loves me with all his heart. We're soulmates."
They're Destined. They've loved one another since their childhoods. You've seen the way Bakugou looks at Midoriya when he thinks no one is looking. How long has he loved Midoriya? How long has he lusted after him? How long has he known he could replace you if only Midoriya knew what he was hiding? He's been an omega all along.
"He's with Kirishima. He loves Kirishima."
Midoriya loves you. He loves Bakugou too. Don't act like it isn't the same. Bakugou has always been in love with Midoriya. Midoriya is just too blind to see it. If it came down to choosing between you and Bakugou, you already know who he would choose.
Todoroki reached up, running his fingers through his hair, gasping for air, trying to remember how to breathe.
He'll leave you for Bakugou. He'll leave you once Bakugou has his pups.
"He won't. He won't. I trust him."
You'll be all alone.
He clasped a hand over his mouth, a choked whimper escaping him. He shook his head, tears streaking down his cheeks, his knees suddenly feeling weak. He collapsed against the hardwood with a clatter, Midoriya immediately at his side, his warm hands wiping away his tears and wrapping around his shaking frame, tugging him closer, his lips pressed against the shell of his ear.
"I'm so sorry, Shouto. I'm so sorry. Please. Please forgive me. I love you so much."
Todoroki curled his fingers in the fabric of Midoriya's hoodie, tugging him closer, breathing against his scent glands, wondering what it must be like for an omega to experience everything Midoriya had to give. How alluring his natural musk must taste, how overwhelming his scent and his prowess, how it must feel to be bent beneath an Alpha's will, pure instinct and submission. He tilted his face up, searching Midoriya's eyes, his mate pressing their foreheads together and crooning softly.
"Please don't leave me Shouto. Please don't leave me. I love you, darling. I love you Sho."
"Take me to bed." Todoroki whispered, Midoriya blinking through his tears, searching his eyes.
"What?"
"Take me to bed, Alpha." Todoroki whispered gently, petting his cheek. "I know you must be aching by now, your rut isn't complete. You'll have your fever for another few days. Let me tend to you."
Midoriya shook his head, his brow pinched with uncertainty and concern. "N-No Shouto, I don't want that. I want to take care of you. I want to be with you, just like this. I just want you to stay with me, please…"
"I am with you." Todoroki whispered, searching Midoriya's eyes. "I need this too. I need it. Please?" He pressed a kiss to the edge of Midoriya's lips, a solitary tear streaking down his cheek. "Take me to bed."
Midoriya lifted him easily, shivering as Todoroki wrapped his arms around his broad shoulders and kneaded against his muscles gently, feeling the little crescent fingernail cuts Bakugou had left behind during the nights before. He didn't speak of it, didn't mention the way it twisted at his heart knowing someone else had experienced Midoriya. It was selfish, vile, possessive. He didn't want to feel that jealousy, that envy clawing at his chest and throat. When Midoriya lay down beside him, leaning close and nuzzling his cheek, Todoroki simply tugged him down and wrapped his thighs around him, locking his ankles against the rise of his ass, rolling his hips up invitingly.
Midoriya watched him carefully, still unsure. "You...you aren't mad at me? You aren't going to leave?"
"Never." Todoroki whispered, searching his eyes. "I love you more than anything. Stay with me."
Midoriya worried his bruised lip, closing his eyes and letting out a soft, whispered moan, his body responding to Todoroki despite his uncertainty, his pulse fluttering within his chest. "I was so worried. I was so worried, Shouto. I didn't mean to...I wasn't thinking…"
"You wanted it." Todoroki whispered, carding his fingers through Midoriya's hair. "You wanted it. You've always wanted it. I'm sorry I can't give that to you. I know how much you want pups."
Midoriya arched his brow, his eyes swimming with unshed tears. "No, Sho. It's not like that. I don't...I don't need pups to be happy with you. We don't ever have to adopt, not unless you decide you genuinely want to. I...I just want to be with you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you." He ducked down to hide his face against Todoroki's neck, warm tears smearing across his face. "I love you so much. I can't lose you. Please, I'll do anything. Tell me what I can do to prove it to you. Please."
"Shh…" Todoroki whispered, kneading against his shoulders still. "You're not going to lose me. I'm not going anywhere." He kissed Midoriya's cheek, nuzzling against him gently. "We're bonded, we're mated for life. I promised to love you endlessly."
Midoriya keened softly, sniffing and searching Todoroki's eyes. "I was afraid you wouldn't want me anymore, you wouldn't want to be with me once you knew…"
"I will always, always want you." His mate reassured, tracing over his freckles adoringly. "I will always love you, Izuku. I will be right beside you, for as long as you want me to be."
A soft whine left the Alpha hovering above him, and Todoroki searched his brilliant emerald eyes, watching the emotions swimming in his irises. "Forever. I want to be with you forever. Will you let me?"
"Yes." Todoroki whispered, putting the voice in the back of his mind to rest, quieting all his fears and doubts, letting his love for his mate overwhelm him. "Yes, Izuku. I'm yours."
Their lips met in a gentle kiss, so different that the kisses Midoriya had shared with Bakugou the nights before. Midoriya and Todoroki had been together for years, they knew every aspect of one another. They both knew just where to touch, where to kiss, what to say, to ease one another's insecurities and set one another on fire. Todoroki reached up, helping Midoriya tug off his hoodie, his hands roaming across his mate's broad chest, admiring his physique, his defined musculature and the traces of scars littering his freckled skin. Midoriya watched him with a dark blush, searching his eyes as Todoroki's fingers wandered across his frame, dipping down to kiss him again gently, cupping his hips and kneading at the dips of his pelvis, Todoroki gasping softly and arching into his touch.
"Shouto…" Midoriya whispered, kissing him again, lips and tongue twining in a dance of heated breath and soft moans, the beta tightening his hold and clenching his thighs tighter around his mate's waist.
"Need you, Izuku. Please."
Midoriya nodded, shifting down Todoroki's frame, tugging up the hem of his sweater and kissing at his fluttering stomach, nosing at his navel before tugging at the waistband of his sweats, revealing his flushed cock, resting against the curve of his stomach and dripping from the tip.
So unlike Bakugou's body. So different than the sweetness he had tasted the nights before.
He wrapped his lips around Todoroki's cock, taking him to the hilt, bobbing and moaning at the feeling of his cockhead bumping the back of his throat, his mate gasping and whining softly beneath him.
In the back of his mind, he could hear Bakugou's moans, his desperate cries for release. He could still remember the taste of his cock as he laved along the underside and teased his weeping slit before dipping back between his quivering thighs to lap at his lips, burying his face against his crux.
"Izuku, please…"
Midoriya sucked a bit harder as his mate's voice brought him back to the moment, gradually working Todoroki up just the way he knew the beta liked, reaching down to cup his ass and squeeze gently, his cock twitching. He needed to be buried inside him. He needed to give himself to Todoroki completely, to replace his wandering thoughts of Bakugou with his mate's needy, breathless moans.
He helped Todoroki out of his clothes, tossing them off of the bed, grateful that he was in clean clothes and had washed thoroughly before leaving Bakugou. Grateful that Todoroki wasn't an omega, grateful that his mate's presentation wasn't as sensitive, thankful that he couldn't smell the lingering traces of heat still staining Midoriya's warm skin.
Midoriya could smell it. He could easily taste it in the air, groaning and panting softly as Todoroki wrapped his hands around Midoriya's shaft and started stroking him slowly, his fingers curling tightly around his impressive girth.
He kicked off his sweats and stripped off his undershirt, returning to his mate completely naked, twining their limbs together, dipping down to kiss him sweetly. Bakugou's voice echoed in the back of his mind, calling out for him to breed him, begging him to sire his pups. His cock twitched in Todoroki's grasp, precum slicking his shaft, his knot already starting to form.
"Baby…" Todoroki whispered, grinning and biting his lip as he blushed, searching Midoriya's eyes, "Will you eat me open?"
"Yeah." Midoriya whispered gruffly, his voice more hoarse than he had expected it to be. It sent a shiver through Todoroki, the beta rolling over and pushing himself up onto his knees, clinging to the pillow beneath him as Midoriya spread his cheeks apart. "Fuck, Sho…"
"I love you." Todoroki whispered, closing his eyes, gasping and moaning as Midoriya's tongue lapped at his entrance, slowly pushing past his sphincter. "Ah! Baby, that feels so good…"
Midoriya growled softly, closing his eyes, pressing his tongue in deeper. He filled his nose with Todoroki's scent, reaching down and stroking his own cock slowly, feeling himself twitching, eager to be inside of his mate. He tried not to think about the way Todoroki arched against him as he pressed inside, the way he distinctly remembered Bakugou arching back against him the exact same way as he was stuffed to the hilt. His mind was filled with thoughts of the omega, the way his sweat made his sweet scent all the more tantalizing, the way he keened when Midoriya's knot locked them in place, the way he begged so sweetly as he was fucked.
Dimly he was aware of Todoroki crying out for him, nuzzling into his mate's shoulder instinctively and kissing at his nape, grunting and moaning out deeply as he felt his knot start to lock them in place. "Shouto, Shouto I love you…"
"Ah! Ah! I love you too!"
Midoriya clenched his eyes shut, his orgasm thundering through him, his knot nestled inside of Todoroki and pressing against his prostate, the beta mewling and clawing at the sheets as he finally came.
"Izuku…"
Even in his feverish state, Bakugou had never once told him he loved him. Not once, out of everything else he had said. Midoriya grit his teeth, arching his brow, resting his forehead against Todoroki's shoulder as the beta clenched around him. He couldn't help the pang of sadness and guilt twisting at his heart, tightening his chest, making it hard to breathe.
Todoroki loved him. Todoroki knew him better than anyone else. He wanted to spend the rest of his life with Todoroki at his side. He didn't know what he would do without him.
There was a part of him that wanted that with Bakugou too.
He kissed at Todoroki's shoulder gently, listening to his mate purr, closing his eyes and trying not to think about the expressions Bakugou made as me climaxed around his knot, as Midoriya filled him with spurs over and over again.
He wanted to be with Bakugou. He wanted to be trapped inside him. He wanted to breed him again.
He wanted Bakugou to have his pups.
"Fuck, Izuku…" Todoroki moaned sweetly as he started thrusting again, arching back against Midoriya and whining sharply at the tug of his knot, the Alpha grunting softly and releasing inside him again, shivering pleasantly. "Already? Your rut must be heavy this time…"
Midoriya nodded, blinking slowly, trailing his lips against Todoroki's shoulder as one of his hands drifted down his side, settling low over his stomach. He pet across Todoroki's skin, just under his navel, his fingertips twitching over where Bakugou's bump had been.
What the fuck is wrong with me?
-x-x-x-
Eventually Kirishima coaxed Bakugou back into bed, bringing him juice and crackers, the tired omega nibbling them gingerly while curled up in the nest Midoriya had made him before. He seemed distant, more distant than he usually was with Kirishima, and the beta watched him worriedly, doting on him, bringing him more snacks and curling up beside him once he was certain Bakugou had eaten enough. Kirishima was quiet as he rested beside him, reaching out to comb his fingers gently through his mate's unruly hair, nuzzling him and kissing his cheeks and forehead whenever Bakugou wasn't hiding from him, keeping his face out of sight. He had a hard time meeting Kirishima's eyes even when he wasn't hiding against one of his pillows, and it twisted something within the beta's chest. Bakugou was clearly guilt ridden, he blamed himself solely for what had happened, and no matter how much Kirishima reassured him, nothing he could do or say seemed to ease Bakugou's distress. The only thing that seemed to help was sleep.
A day passed without any change. Bakugou could barely keep any food down, crawling out of bed only to throw up what little he had eaten or curl up in the bottom of the shower, letting the water rain down on him until it ran cold, Kirishima gradually helping him dry off before coaxing him back into bed.
He hadn't called Todoroki the night before like he had said he would. He needed some time to work things out with Bakugou, to evaluate his feelings and his mate's mental state. He still wasn't sure what to do about what had transpired between him and Midoriya.
He hadn't spoken to Bakugou about his belly bump.
He hadn't gone to the pharmacy, too concerned about Bakugou to leave him alone.
When Bakugou was resting, Kirishima slipped out of the bedroom and padded down the hall, dialing Todoroki's number and pressing the phone to his ear, waiting for the other beta to pick up. It rang for a while, and just when Kirishima was certain the call was about to reach his voicemail, he heard the line pick up, and a voice answered.
It wasn't who he had been expecting.
"Kirishima?" Midoriya called gingerly. "Hey, Shouto is in the shower. Is everything okay?"
Kirishima arched his brow, his chest fluttering, trying not to feel defensive as he spoke to the concerned Alpha. "Umm...yeah, I mean...Katsuki's sleeping for now." He was quiet for a long moment, then he admitted hesitantly, "Something's wrong with him. He's not eating, and he keeps getting sick. I'm worried about him. I don't know what to do…"
Midoriya paused for a few moments before asking, "Have you called the doctor?"
"No." Kirishima admitted softly, dipping his ears back a bit. "I didn't want to make him any more upset. He…" He sighed restlessly, his leg bouncing as he reclined back against the wall. "He keeps crying. I've never seen him like this. He won't even meet my eyes."
Midoriya let out a soft, deep breath, his voice torn as he spoke. "Kirishima. I am so sorry."
Kirishima bit his lip, closing his eyes, arching his brow and debating for a few long moments before he finally spoke. "Would you be willing to come over? Even if it's just for a little while? Please?"
Midoriya made a sound as if he had started to speak, then thought better of it. He was quiet for a while, then responded softly, "I'm sorry. I don't feel comfortable leaving Shouto again."
Kirishima nodded, hanging his head a bit as he murmured, "No, I understand. I'm sorry. Thank you, for doing what you could. We'll figure something out."
Midoriya pulled the phone away from his ear, his voice muffled as he said something quietly, then after a bit of shuffling Todoroki's voice sounded against his ear. "Eiji? Bakugou's sick?"
"Yeah." He reached up, rubbing at his nape, tilting one of his ears to the side a bit. "Listen, I'm sorry to bother you. This isn't your problem. I'll just...I'll call the doctor. Everything will be fine. Thank you, Sho. I'm sorry again."
"Eiji, wait." Todoroki pulled the phone away again, and Kirishima could hear him speaking back and forth with Midoriya. The Alpha sounded uncertain, hesitant to say the least. Kirishima dipped his ears back a bit. He didn't want to make Midoriya uncomfortable, asking him to come over again while Bakugou was still in heat. Kirishima chided himself inwardly. Midoriya had his own concerns to deal with, he was still experiencing his rut. Surely he would be better off at home alone with Todoroki. Kirishima never should have called them again, not after what had just happened the nights before.
This was a huge mess.
He never should have reached out to Midoriya in the first place.
Everything that had transpired was a direct result of his actions.
This was all his fault.
"Eiji?" Todoroki called again, Kirishima inhaling softly and refocusing on the beta's voice.
"Sorry, Todo. What did you say?"
"Is it alright if I come over too?"
He blinked in surprise, then answered quickly, "Yeah! Yeah, of course it is! You're more than welcome here." Kirishima let out a little sigh of relief, smiling faintly as Todoroki said a brief goodbye. They would be over within the hour, and they had offered to bring groceries along with them so Todoroki could cook. Kirishima had been friends with Todoroki and Midoriya for years, despite Bakugou being distant. They wanted to be there for him in any way they could.
He slipped his phone into his pocket, carding his fingers through his hair again, stepping back towards the bedroom and peeking inside, blinking when he realized Bakugou had slipped out of bed and was on the floor. He was digging through a duffel bag, one Kirishima vaguely recognized as Midoriya's. He must have left it behind before returning home to Todoroki the day before.
Bakugou dug through the bag for a moment longer before pulling a hoodie out of the messily bundled clothes, lifting it to his face and nuzzling into the soft, worn fabric tentatively, his ears quivering a little as he closed his eyes and inhaled Midoriya's scent.
Kirishima's chest twisted tightly, and he backed away from the door, pressing a hand over his mouth and closing his eyes, pushing down the whimper caught in his throat.
He understood now. He understood what Bakugou needed.
Despite whatever Bakugou might say, or how much he pushed Midoriya away, he needed his Alpha close.
He needed to be surrounded by Midoriya's warmth and scent.
There was nothing he as a beta could do for his mate during his heat, besides offer Bakugou companionship and emotional support, and Bakugou needed more than that.
He needed to be with the sire of his pups.
