Mommy's the word
RaisingStar asked for a oneshot of Emma leaving a young Eira with Snow a lot whilst she and Killian are working. This leads to Eira calling Snow mommy in front of Emma. So Emma tries to distance Eira from Snow but doesn't tell Snow because she's embarrassed.
Snow just didn't understand. She looked after Eira every weekday whilst Emma and Killian were working. She loved the time she got to spend with the tot. Now suddenly Emma had taken a fortnight off work and hadn't so much as been round to visit? Had Snow done something to upset her? Emma had sounded fine with her on the phone, she just seemed to be avoiding them. Well, Snow wasn't having it. Emma was not rebuilding those damn walls. If the mountain will not come to Muhammed, then Muhammed must go to the mountain. Or, Snow must go to Emma's house.
So that afternoon, Snow drove round to Emma's house with some cupcakes for a surprise visit. She knocked on the door and Emma answered. Snow did not like the slightly horrified look on her daughter's face when she saw it was her. Snow pretended not to notice and smiled, holding out the sweet treats.
"I was missing my two favourite girls, so I thought I'd pop by." Snow explained. Emma seemed to be quite flustered.
"That's really kind mom, but the thing is now isn't really a good time…"
"Mommy!" Snow held a little voice call. Snow expected Eira to run up to her mommy, probably wanting something, so she was more than surprised when Eira moved past her mom and to her. She held her little arms up. "Mommy!" She cried out, grinning. Emma quickly picked the two year old up.
"Eira baby, remember? I'm mommy. Only one mommy. This is mimi." Emma said, pointing at Snow. Emma turned towards her mom, her face bright red.
"I am so sorry about this. I think she just got confused because she spent the days with you. I thought if I took a couple of weeks off I could sort it before you found out…" Now Snow realised.
"This is why you've been avoiding me." She said. She took Emma's silence as confirmation. Snow smiled at her daughter. "You silly goose. Eira's just a little girl. She'll probably say she wants to marry her daddy at some point. She doesn't understand all these different words and what they mean. She probably thinks mommy just means a girl who she loves. She'll get there Em. There's no need to be so embarrassed. Do you not remember your brother went around for weeks calling everyone babe after hearing Red say it? Talk about mortified." Emma laughed, the memory floating to the surface. She opened the door.
"You're right. I'm being stupid. In you come." Eira clapped her hands merrily.
"Mommy!"
"Mimi sweetheart." Snow said gently, kissing Eira's head.
"Mimi!" Eira chirped. Emma smiled gratefully. Her mom was right, she would get this eventually.
