Left for good

A guest asked for a oneshot of Emma actually leaving with Henry at the end of season 1 and seeing them a few months later.

He still wasn't talking to her. She had tried everything. At first she had taken him to Boston, seeing as that's where she had last lived, but he hated it there. She then moved to New York, knowing Henry had a fascination with the state. He didn't like it there either. So Emma tried once more and uprooted them both to Trenton. New Jersey was close to New York so the Big Apple was still accessible for the odd day out, but it was smaller. He still seemed miserable. It had been three months since they'd left Storybrooke. Emma had hoped he would be happier by now and see she had done what was best for him.

"Come on kid." She pleaded during another silent evening. "It's not all bad. Do you want to move again? We can go anywhere you want. Philadelphia, Los Angeles, heck, we can move to Hollywood if you really want. We can even move to Las Vegas if you promise not to gamble. Name it kid." Emma told him. Henry looked up at her with big sad eyes.

"Anywhere?" He asked. Emma nodded. Maybe she was getting somewhere. "Ok then. Storybrooke, Maine." He replied. Emma sighed.

"Anywhere but there." She clarified. "Henry, your other mom was dangerous. You said yourself. She was the Evil Queen, remember?"

"You never believed any of that." Henry snapped. Emma bent down and placed her hands on Henry's shoulders.

"What's important here, is that we both agree she was a nasty person. You're safer with me." Emma told him. "I'm doing what's best for you here Henry. You said you wanted to live with me." She reminded him. Henry shook his head.

"Not like this." He told her. "You think my mom won't have called the police just because they can't get into Storybrooke? She'll have people looking for us. Looking for me. You're gonna end up in jail and I won't be able to see you at all. Please, let's just go back. At least there she's all we have to worry about and if we break the curse we won't have to worry about her anymore." Henry begged.

"Henry, we can't go back there. Your mom would never let us see each other again." Emma pointed out.

"Neither will the police." Henry added. Emma ran her fingers through her hair. This was an impossible situation, and it didn't look like it was going to get any easier any time soon.
