Chapter Six
I walk to my father's room.
Alistair is sitting with my father and stands when I come into the room. He was happy at first but seemed tense when I entered the room.
"What's wrong? Are Kate and the baby okay?"
I look at him and anger fills me.
"I walked in here and expected word on my father. Not questions about my soon-to-be ex-wife. How is he?"
"Soon-to-be ex-wife? Why? What happened?" He looks concerned.
Now that I think about it, he has always been fond of her and of Elise.
Maybe a little too fond.
"Are you sleeping with Kate? If I do a DNA test, will it prove that bitch of a daughter is yours and not mine?" I seethe.
While I wait for an answer, I hear my father stir and try to speak. I walk over to him and sit next to him.
"I am sorry, Father. Kate failed you again. She bore another daughter. We need to have her removed from this family and home. I am allowing her a few days to leave."
The look in my father's eyes is angry.
"Alistair… nephew… bring me my daughter… and both my granddaughters. After you help me sit up, please."
Alistair nods.
"Also, I need Jenks here."
"Of course, Uncle Marcus. Let me help you up and I will get everyone here."
He assists my father in getting him to a sitting position before walking away.
I watch him take his phone out and make a phone call. He is quiet, but I think he is on the phone with either Stephen or Jenks.
A few minutes later, Stephen brings Elise into the room. Elise comes into the room with smiles and one of her toys. Stephen says something quietly to her and she nods.
Jenks is right behind them, with a notary. They stand in the background and wait to be brought into the fold.
"Nonno. Nonno! Lis love you!" Elise goes to my father and gives him a big hug. Father laughs and gives her a huge hug.
"My Princess, Elise. How much… I love… you…" Father says in between growls. Kate gives something called bear hugs and they are big hugs with you growling at each other. It's stupid, really.
"GROWL! BEAR HUG!" Elise giggles.
A few minutes later, the door opens and Doctor Snow comes in. Following him, Angela is carrying a baby that is no longer my problem. Following them, Kate is being carried by Garrett. Alistair coming right behind him.
"Let me put you in the chair next to Uncle Marcus."
I go over to the chair and sit in it. "This chair is for family. Which, Kate is not."
Everyone looks at me in horror.
"Stephen, plea…" Father starts.
"I will grab another chair. You good for a minute, Garrett?" Garrett nods at Stephen and Stephen leaves and comes back with a chair and some pillows for his daughter. Garrett sits her down on the pillows and stands next to her. This upsets me immensely. But I need to get Elise out of Father's bed.
Alistair comes and stands next to me. I do not like it one bit.
"Elise, get off the bed. Mister Whitlock needs his rest." I tell her. I look over at my cousin and Garrett and anger runs through me. "So, you are really close to Kate, I see. This really makes me think that you and her are more than you appear. Father, I want this marriage annulled, my adoption of Elise erased, and to take my place as heir of the family." I stand in my place next to my father before bowing slightly and kneeling next to him.
"Are you sure that is what you want, son?" My father asks.
"Of course. It is my right as your son to continue this family!" I shout.
"You will respect me, boy. I am the boss and your father!" He looks me in the eye; then turns away. "Kate, can I meet my newest grandchild? Elise, ready to meet your new sibling?"
"Yes! Nonno! Love you," she says as she hugs Father tight.
"My Princess, love you too." Father says, and it pisses me off.
Kate is crying but nods. "Angela? Hand Nonno Marcus my daughter, please. Nonno Stephen, please take pictures."
"Of course." Stephen gets his phone out and starts taking pictures.
Idiot!
Angela nods. "I will stand next to you in case you need anything, sir."
He agrees.
"Thank you. We will compensate you well. You have served my family well, child."
Angela smiles at Father's statement. "Anything for you, Nonno Marcus."
"You need to respect Mister Whitlock! You don't call him that!" I scream.
Alistair comes and stands next to me.
"Does this child have a name?" Father asks.
"Meet your granddaughter, Eleanor Pearl. I wanted to honor Peter in her name as close as I could. I hope you like it…"
I am disgusted. "That name will not do! She was supposed to be Abigail!" I walk towards Father and try to take the baby from him.
Alistair comes towards me and grabs me, sitting me on the chair. I tried to get up as Garrett came into view, looking like he was ready to fight.
"Angela, can you take the girls and have Mrs. Munios take care of them, please?" Kate asks her.
Angela takes the girls and comes back a few minutes later.
"Kay, I am here if you need me. I won't leave your side." Garrett says with a shoulder squeeze.
I try to get up and head towards my wife. "Kate is MY wife! You get your filthy hands off her!" I shout at Garrett. I did not make it far because Alistair grabbed me again and shoved me into the chair.
"Jasper! SIT DOWN!" Stephen yells. "I am sorry, Marcus, I can't just stand here and let your son possibly hurt my daughter or either of my granddaughters."
"And you are okay with a man who is not your daughter's husband touching her? A low-level piece of shit?"
Kate gasps in horror. "You mean my childhood best friend? A man that has seen more tragedy in his life by the time he was four than most do in their lifetime? A man that I have known since I was two days old? A man that lived in my home since I was two? Elise's age. Father, is there an issue with my relationship with Rett?" Kate asked Stephen.
"Rett is a good man. He has always loved and protected you like a sister." He turns and speaks to the rest of the room. "Since she was born. When his parents died, when he was three and she was two, there was no doubt he was going to be her brother. I gave him the option of being my heir, but he did not want to take that away from Be—beautiful Kate and her future children. He chooses to be her bodyguard and yours. Not that he needs to work. His family made sure he was set for life. So, don't say anything about Garrett Andrews. Unless you really want the full truth. Shut your mouth," Stephen says with a threat in his voice.
"I am the heir of the Whitlock Mafia family. You have no right to speak to me that way! My marriage to your daughter, Katrina, is no more and your children are bastards! Leave now!" I scout.
"Jasper!" Alistair shouts. "Enough."
Alistair breathes heavily and looks at Stephen and Kate.
"Katrina, I would be honored to take over assisting you with the care of these girls. So they are still Whitlocks."
We hear a gasp; I see Angela looking like her heart is breaking.
"Thank you, Alistair. It is not your responsibility to make sure my children are not bastards. They will be Izzi's and as Izzi's we will take care of them," Kate replied. "Mister Marcus Whitlock, I am sorry if I have not been a good enough daughter-in-law. I wanted nothing more than to make you and your sons happy. Please forgive me. My daughters, Father, and our men will leave by tomorrow night, as it is nearly nine p.m."
This made Father mad. Red-faced and crazed.
"You and the girls will not go! Jasper, you are no longer in charge of my family! Alistair, you are now my heir and Elise Grace Whitlock and Eleanor Pearl Whitlock are my grandchildren. They will be treated as such." Father's voice strains. "Jenks, did you hear that?"
"Yes, sir. I got that and will make five copies. One for you, one for Mister Jasper, one for Mister Alistair, one for Ms. Kate, and lastly one for Mister Stephen. If you sign this here, I will have it notarized now," Jenks says.
After working with the notary for a few minutes, Jenks handed Marcus several pages. "Here are the five copies. Is there anything else, Mister Whitlock?"
"Just that Jasper needs to leave by tomorrow and this house goes to Kate and the girls once I die."
I am pissed. This is supposed to be my house! Especially if my father is dying!
"NO! You are leaving the house to me! The family to me!" I get up and run towards my father.
Alistair had moved away from me when the girls left and sat between me and Kate.
But Kate was not in the chair anymore, and Garrett and Stephen weren't in the room either. Only Jenks, his notary, and Alistair were in the room, but Jenks and the notary are leaving.
I am not sure what happened next, but one minute I am sitting in my chair and the next I am over Father and someone grabs me, pulling me into another room.
"Someone call for help! Uncle Marcus needs 911!" A voice calls out.
A scream fills the room, I think it is Kate.
And I don't remember anything after that.
