As you probably know by now, this is a COMPLETE FILLER (I know, I know, but seriously I have SO MUCH HOMEWORK I had to make this one a filler) This is going to be about our dear Annabeth.
Annabeth thinks back to the time when she was a seven-year-old and when she met Frez and Diane. You guys probably didn't want or like it, but it's WHAT YOU GET. DEAL WITH IT.
Starting NOW!
Annabeth's POV
Fear.
The only emotion existing.
I should have stayed. Why didn't I?
Spiders. That's why. But something more... no. It's the spiders. Has to be.
Spiders. Spiders. Spiders.
SPIDERS.
SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS. SPIDERS.
Can't... stand... it... much longer.
My head hurts.
What's happening? That sound?
Quick, get a hammer. Hide... there.
Hope the monsters go past.
That's how I met Luke and Thalia.
"Hi... Luke." I muttered. It was getting harder and harder to look into his eyes.
"'Sup, Annabeth?" He asked, looking away. I knew he couldn't stare into my eyes the whole time, but still, it felt like he did it on purpose.
"Wanna go to the... lava wall together?" I asked nervously.
"Um, sorry, I promised Misona I'd train with her."
I bite my lip. That's how it always was these days.
Can I go too?
Sorry, Misona said nobody else.
Hey, when are we going to go swim in the lake?
Oops, Misona asked me to come with her to the strawberry fields. Next time?
How about horse riding?
I promised Misona that we would canoe together.
I stabbed my finger in my palm. I was so jealous of Misona.
Misona was super pretty, with pretty long dark hair, not like my blonde hair, and she's super silly and fun to be around. Unlike me.
I was worried I was 'too serious' for Luke's trickster ways. Misona definitely was more his type.
She had pale skin and dark eyes, sort of a blue-brown. She has a cheerful, upbeat way of talking that makes you like her. Even like like her.
Luke's POV
I wrung my hands, watching Annabeth. I wished Misona was here. Even though she was Asian, she was fun to be around.
She was Japanese, specifically, and her mom was Eris. But she was really nice, in this jokey yet sincere way. Every day, I felt myself falling, falling. Falling in love.
But Annabeth...
Annabeth didn't mind. Right?
Yet she would be so hurt that someone was more important to me than her.
I couldn't. Yet had to.
"Um." I blurted. "Before you ask, I'm going out with Misona." I flinched. That sounded so HARSH. Like I was tired of her asking me if I wanted to hang out.
And the 'going out' part? It sounded like we were going out as in dating when I meant that we were going for a walk. Then again, what might a walk bring...
I thought of Misona grinning at me, laughing in her bright way, the way that lit up the world and set my heart on flames...
I thought of my hand finding hers.
I thought of how soft her lips would be, how right they would feel, pressing against mine.
How her sweet smell would overcome me.
I sighed dreamily, thinking of her rosy smell.
It was so fresh and sweet, new and bold, unlike Annabeth, cautious and wary.
Not that I didn't like Annabeth. I did!
But now, in my teenager stage, I wanted- no, needed,- someone carefree, someone who was a people person, not someone who hid in stats.
But I couldn't very well leave Annabeth alone.
I did like her, might have even loved her if not for Misona.
If I hadn't known there was such a thing as pure happiness, without the trying-to-pay-attention to someone, just the natural fitting together.
Maybe later, if I grow more serious, more stern, maybe, I'll love her.
But not now.
Not now, when I've realized I should tell her I love her on this walk.
Not now, when I see that Misona's offer to 'go out' was her way of saying she loved me.
Not now, when all I can think of is how our children will look.
How much of a good mother she'll be.
How I'll be a better father than Hermes was ever.
How she would cook for me, then burn it, and then she'd throw up her hands and say something about suing the cereal.
But Annabeth?
She would burn it, then look back at the recipe, measure it all out in fractions and decimals, and we would end up without a dinner.
She would stay cooped up in her room, instead of running out in the fields as Misona would.
Misona would teach our kids about Japanese history, frown when she reached a guy she didn't like, then encourage the kids to draw a mustache on him.
Then she would tell them the guy-she-didn't-like is now called Sir Mustache.
Then she'd kiss them good night, looking at me with that knowing glint in her eye, then we would get in bed, our bed, and my arms would wrap around hers, and she would whisper 'sweet dreams' and curl up against me, and...
I could only imagine.
But then I take a look at Annabeth, the stricken, horrified look on her face.
The betrayal.
We'll be your family. Promise.
My words ring in my ears.
But Misona!
I love her, there's no doubt about that, but I can't hurt Annabeth, I would have loved her, maybe, possibly, probably, in another time, another place, another life.
"Sorry." I said, before tearing off to the Hermes cabin.
Annabeth's POV
Before you ask, I'm going out with Misona.
How? How could he? Say sorry and run off? 'Go out' with Misona? Say 'before you ask', as if my requests were annoying him?
I stare after his retreating shape for a long while, keep staring even after he shuts the door to the Hermes cabin without looking back, when Misona knocks at the door.
Someone taps on my shoulder.
It's... an Athena girl.
Not that tall, not that short, just average, but there's a fire burning in her eyes.
Frizzy black hair.
I haven't seen her around much. She's pretty new, but she had lots of friends already, more than me, because most people are either scared of me, or I don't want to open up.
Luke is the only guy who I trusted... and now he doesn't.
He's probably with Misona now. There's not enough time between us to regain our friendship, move on to more than just that. I mean, HELLO?
Luke is pretty much seventeen!
"Um, why are you crying?" She asks bluntly, in a hey, you're crying, cool, what can I do? way.
It's so nice to have someone talking to me like that, without the fear or awkwardness in between, that I open up. I plop down, in the middle of the cabin lanes, and start bawling.
"Luke... he's... going... out... with... MISONA!" I wail.
"Kay, calm down, girl! Deep breath. Who's Misona anyway?" She asks.
I whoosh out a breath, regaining control. I'm hiccupping and gasping for breath, but I answer, "Daughter of Eris. Dad's Japanese. Kinda like you. Your dad's Spanish, right?"
(SPOILER: If I offend anyone who's from either country, Spanish or Japanese, I sincerely apologize.)
"Yeah. Why?" Instantly, she's on edge.
"Ha... No, it's just- I have family problems, and you... you have a nice dad, as far as I know, yet... you seem so familiar to this kind of family awkwardness- as soon as I mentioned family, you- you went alert."
"Well, yeah!" She relaxes again. "C'mon, let's go to the lake."
I get up and follow her, wiping my eyes.
. . .
Luke's POV
"So, Lukey Dukey.. hey! I should start calling you Okey Dokey Lukey!" Misona laughs.
"Yeah, you should! And I'll call you Dona Misona."
"DON'T YOU DARE!"
"Dona Misona~~"
"GAH! MY EARS!"
I laugh and extend my hand. "Amigos?" She shakes it. "Un, tomodachi, anata wa baka!" She teases, and I tackle her with a cry of "I TOLD YOU NOT TO USE A LANGUAGE I CAN'T SPEAKKKK! YOU COULD BE INSULTING ME FOR ALL I KNOW!"
"I am! I called you a baka- a doofus." She grins.
"My gods-" I pin her down, and then she challenges, "Bet you can't stay like that for a minute."
I stick my tongue out and lean close. "Bet I can."
She sticks her tongue out too, and then we're laughing, but then I feel my fingers starting to slip on her slick skin. I can't stay on this position for any longer.
I grunt, and she laughs, with her tongue still lolling in the air, and it looks like she's gurgling or something.
That's when Annabeth charged in.
Annabeth's POV
"Misona's a child of Eris, so she sleeps in the Hermes cabin- minor goddess, right? So SHE SLEEPS IN THE SAME ROOM AS LUKE! Also, she's like a super rebel- always spunky yet cool and chill and happy. Just what Luke likes! Cool, chill, happy, all of the above!? And she can make a strife storm- anything inside it changes and warps."
"She can also create fights, knows about wars, cause arguments and envy and all that, but the reason for the envy- that has to already be there, she can't make it- all without knowing it. Powerful- also what Luke likes!"
Frez smiled. "So she might have created jealousy between you?"
"Oh yeah! That's true..."
"Look, she probably loves Luke and all, and you probably do too, since the 'reason for the envy' is real. Besides, they like you! She made that feeling without knowing it. Go find them and join them and talk to them, smooth it over."
"Thanks, Frez. You're so easy to talk to... like with all my problems with Luke. Well, I'll go find them and say that I want to join them, because they like me! They don't not like me. You're right- we should talk it out." I said.
"No prob." She grinned at me.
So I marched to the strawberry fields, where I thought they were- judging on the laughing and all.
But then I heard loud gurgles and grunts- a monster for sure. I charged in with my knife drawn, but... there was nothing.
However, Luke and Misona were there, rolling around together, their tongue's overlapping...
I screamed and ran away.
Luke's POV
We both stared after Annabeth for a while, and Misona got up to go after her, but I put a hand on her shoulder.
"She needs some time."
"Yeah... yeah, you're right."
And so that's what happened.
Annabeth's POV
After some time crying with Frez calming me, I caught my breath.
Diane came running in, and she grabbed Frez's arm. "C'mon, c'mon, girl! Luke got a quest! C'MON!"
Of course. Frez would go with her best friend.
"Nah, I'll stay." She said, facing up to Diane's frown. "You can, too, if you want."
"No thanks." She spat the words out.
"LUKE GOT A QUEST?" The words were out of my mouth before I knew it.
Okay, that's it for now! Hope you liked, and so this is what happens next:
Luke sneaks Misona into the quest (nobody knows) and then she gets killed by the dragon (because Luke's quest was to get a golden apple with the dragon guarding it) and everybody thinks she was killed by a monster while helping a new camper get to safety.
Luke comes back heatr-broken, and he leans on Annabeth for support, slowly growing fonder and fonder of her.
Then that's when the Percy Jackson series happens.
Frez has gone out to the real world when Percy comes in.
Ciao! As always, review please!
