Chapter Ten

I check on the men in the room several times during the girls' naps. I notice they are getting drunker and drunker looking. They brought beer and other alcohol into the room while they waited for the funeral home. Why is it taking so long?

The girls wake up and I change Eleanor's diaper and make Elise go potty.

I need to come up with different names for them.

Finally, the house phone rings, and the funeral home is here. Two hours later.

I open the front gate for them and they come in. I watch them come into the house and to take Marcus.

One of the undertakers expresses concerns with the sight of the men in the room.

"What is going on here? Why are they as drunk as they are?" The head of the funeral home asks.

"Marcus wanted food and spirits if possible after he died for the family. Since he died in his bed at home, they were able to do it. We figured that you would have been here sooner or the men would not have been given free access to the whiskey."

The woman looks concerned. As she should.

"My daughter wants to see her Nonno. I can't let her see him now."

A nod is given and they take the body of my former father-in-law.

After they leave, I check the men in the room. Their breathing is slowing.

Good.

I asked all the employees to go home.

I send Benjamin a text message.

I think now is a good time…. Kate

We are here waiting. You send the staff home yet? Benjamin

Yeah. I wanted nobody to see me leaving. Marcus is gone. Kate

I saw. I will see you soon. Meet me at the door. I have a car seat and a stroller to help. As well as some clothes in case they have trackers. I already checked everything else for trackers. It will just be me. Benjamin

I left a key among the Heather plants in the front and the alarm is not set... See you soon. Kate

Found it, See ya soon. Benjamin.

I look at the room around me and realize that this is the last time I will be here. I spent the last few minutes trying to remember the good times I spent here.

I almost regret the fact that several people are dying today.

Almost.

Thankful that I left a key outside and the alarms off; makes it easier. I change into more comfortable clothes and go to the bathroom. Next on my list is changing Eleanor and putting a pullup on Elise.

I open the door to my room and see the only man I have wanted to see for the last four years.

Muscular man with dimples on his cheeks with a smile that makes my heart melt. His hair currently buzzed short and contacts make his green eyes blue.

He walks in the door and locks it.

"Where are they? How is my littlest angel?"

I smile as I show him where the girls are playing. Eleanor in a little swing and Elise playing with one of her dolls.

The smile on Benjamin's face leaves me breathless. If I died right now, it would be fine. Knowing that the man was finally going to spend time with his daughters, made me the happiest woman on earth.

"God, they are beautiful. We are so lucky to have them. I love you, Bells."

I laugh and kiss his lips. "I love you too, Emm." Then I kiss him again.

The love pouring out of us through this kiss is amazing.

I am home.

We finally stop the kiss and I hold him close for a few minutes. Kissing his cheek, I look at him and ask, "Want to meet your daughter?"

Tears form in his eyes, and we walk hand in hand towards the girls.

"Elise, this is your Daddy. Daddy, this is Elise and Eleanor. Well, until we think of different names."

"Hello, my Princesses. Daddy is sorry he was away for so long. I love you both so much."

I had told Elise that her father was coming someday soon. I showed her pictures of him and I am glad I did now because she jumped into his arms and it was a beautiful sight.

"Honestly, I was thinking Elizabeth for Elise. Maybe spelled with an -s instead of a -z."

I think about it and I like it.

"I like it. She still keeps her name, but we get her a safer name. Now, Eleanor?" I ask.

"I was thinking something with an I or B. What about you?"

Honestly, I had not given it much thought. "I was thinking either Emilia or Bellaria."

A smile lands on his face. "Bellaria is it. Beautiful name for a beautiful girl. Shall we get the rest of your things and get ready to leave?"

I nod when a knock is heard at the door, followed by a handle jiggle.

"Kate? It's Angela. I am here to check on you."

Fucking shit. I sent that bitch home.

"I am changing. What are you doing here so late, Angela? I sent you home saying I would see you tomorrow." I asked as Emmett gets his phone out and texts his coworkers there is someone here. I motion for him to be quiet.

"Well, I got some lab results that need to be discussed. About little Eleanor." Emmett is recording and has a coworker looking for any lab results and he is finding nothing.

"What results? I never asked for lab results."

"No, but my Carlisle and Jasper did to make sure they knew if they were the father or not."

Carlisle? Wonderful. I guess Alistair was seeing Angela after all.

"Your name is not Angela is it?" I asked her to stall.

A loud and sinister laugh rings through the air, making Bellaria cry.

"Oh, see! I knew you would need me. Open up! NOW!"

I grab Bellaria and attach her to my breast. I walk to the door once she attaches. For a moment, I debate whether I want to open the door with her in my arms.

Emmett takes Elisabeth and takes her to the side room, then comes to get Bellaria. I hand her to him and they go along with her car seat. I put the stroller in the room with them and tell Elisabeth to shhh.

I got my gun out and made sure the safety was off.

"What can I do for you, Angela?" I asked her. I notice another woman next to Angela. Smiling an evil smile.

"Name is Mary Alice Brandon. I was supposed to marry Jasper until you killed your first husband, Peter. Once you were a widow, Jasper had to do the right thing and marry you. I started seeing Alistair and funny enough, he was saying that he was seeing you too. As was Garrett. But Garrett said he was married to you. Both men said you had their children. So, I made sure to get their DNA. Do you know I have the real results?"

I did not let her get to me. I saw Emmett motion not to open the door and keep stalling.

So I stalled and didn't answer the door.

"Mary Alice, you say? Are you sure you aren't Cynthia Powers? And Angela, isn't your name Esme Platt?"

I hear a gasp from the other end of the door.

"Where did you get that name from? I am Mary Alice Brandon. Better known as Alice."

"It is nice to meet you, Alice and Esme," I say with false pleasantness.

"I knew you were going to bring this family down. I knew it before you came here."

I laughed at that comment. "When did you know I was coming here?"

This should be good.

Another laugh comes from my lips. "A year ago? You realize that I have been here since they promised me to Peter. I was around ten."

Someone on the other end of the door gasps.

"You have been here that long? I never saw you! I have been in this family since I was born! I will kill you bitch! And your bastard children!"

The sounds of banging on the door were loud and annoying.

Alice was screaming threats and trying to get into the room. More shouts and screams of unfairness and threats. Esme seemed to be crying, something about her Carlisle being gone.

I almost think Alice is a witch.

I hear what must be officers coming to arrest Alice and Esme, which brings Emmett to come out into the room and open the door.

I was never happier than I was at this time.

"We are free, my sweet. We are free!" Emmett says as he holds me close to him. "We can now be a proper family. Where do you want to go? My sweet Bells."

"Home, Emmett. Home," is all I say.
