Third Person Pov:

The guns sounded, alarms were going crazy, the enemy was at their final allied planet, and they were losing it quick. For 74 years, the Independent Federation had been at war with the Sovereignty of Hallicas, and it looked like they were down for the count. Once the Federation realized they weren't going to make it without a new development, they made a new type of ship, a dreadnought that stumped all the current ones they made, at least 5.6km long, the Dauntless class was the strongest there was, though there was only two that could be made before they lost the worlds that supplied them the necessary materials to make new ones.

The IFS Javelin was one of the Dauntless class dreadnoughts, and alongside her sister ship, IFS Spearhead, and aboard the Javelin was the fortunate crew, captained by Commander Adrian, and they were under heavy fire. The enemy had deployed everything, and the Spearhead had the Vice Admiral commanding them, so they'd make it hurt, paying for every bit of damage done.

"This is Vice Admiral Louis to all allied fleet ships, the enemy is attempting to target the IFS Spearhead, use this moment to close upon the enemy, Javelin, You stay your position."

"This is IFS Javelin, we'll hold here, but we're taking heavy fire as well."

"The more they target us, the more damage our forces cause." The battle lasted another five hours before the bridge crew of Javelin saw something that broke their resolve.

The IFS Spearhead was about to be destroyed.

He ran to the communications console "Vice Admiral, abandon your ship, she's done for!"

"Negative, the captain goes down with his ship, and even if I abandoned, where would I run to? I doubt you'll escape before you even suggest retreating with me and my crew." The Vice Admiral was surprisingly calm.

"Vice admiral sir, I bel-" He didn't get to continue before he watched in muted horror as the Spearhead's core finally blew, blowing the ship in half, and he saw that immediately after that his allies were getting torn apart. He had to choose, Stay and inflict useless casualties and damage, or high tail it out of there, and the option was obvious. He gave the order for all his allies that could reach him to get inside, they weren't dying for a cause that was doomed. As soon as everyone was situated, he had the ship turn away from the enemy and hit it, a blind jump that would either doom them anyways, or be their last hope of survival.

Star Fox was drifting in space, waiting for anything interesting to happen, at least when the Lylat Wars were going on, they had something to do. They had gone 2 months without any major action. Thankfully, they received a message from the CDF, saying that something big had shown up just outside their system, and it wasn't a match for any sort of planet's forces, they wasted no time in getting there, though it'd take about 30 minutes to arrive.

Adrian's Pov:

"Attention crew, this is Commander Adrian. Vice Admiral Louis is KIA, and we have done a blind jump into unknown territory, at least that's what our nav table is saying. We're going to try to find a planet to set up a base on, with that, I need the commanders of the following units: Specter, Jester, and Mimic. That is all" I shut the comms and looked out into the endless stars "Now, just where the hell are we?" I then looked to the nav table, the nearest planet was about an hour away if we didn't jump to it, which would give proper time for a briefing and for the troops to gear up.

"Sir, new contact detected on long range, showing up as unknown, approaching rather slowly though."

"Size?"

"About 900 meters in length."

"That would be... Frigate size? Cruiser maybe?"

"It's unknown, but the size is comparable to a frigate, so I'd be willing to put money on it that we were detected, and this is just a scout."

"100 Sigils like last time Kane?"

"Damn right sir."

"You're gonna owe me like last time, anyways, let's head for the nearest planet, you know what to do."

"Yes sir." As they got underway, the unit commanders showed up "You requested us Commander?"

"Yes, I hope you're ready for a semi-unofficial briefing."

"We're all ears"

"Grand, now, as you heard, we made a blind jump, though we went farther than expected, farther than anyone we know actually, so we have an opprotunity to try to restart the Federation. Problem is that we don't know what to expect on the world you see out there, we need you three to get your squads ready to deploy, CAS will be available as soon as we get a relay set up, any concerns?"

"You said 'farther than anyone we know', is it possible there's some tribals out here?"

"Well, we detected a frigate class inbound to us, though it's coming from an unknown area, so we're definitely not the first here, but this'll by interesting if they're SoH, in which case, we were fucked from the start."

"That's definitely strange, but if that's the answer, I won't question it."

"Alright then, anyone else?" The silence that followed answered my question "Well alright, gear up to drop, 1 hour." The three left to get their teams ready, we all had no idea what was gonna happen.

Third Person Pov:

"Dropping out of sub space in one minute" ROB said as Fox was checking his gear one more time just in case.

"Fox, come on, you checked it 10 times already, you're set." Falco was sure his friend's worry was for nothing. If it was neutral or friendly, make contact and see what was going on, if it was hostile, blow it out of the sky, same shit, different day essentially, especially during the Lylat Wars, though they sat in silence while they waited, and what they saw was a sight to behold, the biggest ship they'd ever seen loomed in front of them.

"Holy shit... ROB, how big is that?"

"Please wait... 5.7km in length, 3.8km in width, 4.3km in height."

"Jesus, we're not equipped to take that beast on!" Slippy was extremely on edge about getting near it.

"I know, to be honest, I do-" They were cut off by ROB "Incoming message from the ship, we are not unnoticed."

"Play it" they all waited for the message to play, and what they heard was shocking.

"This is Commander Adrian of the IFS Javelin, unknown contact, we do not seek hostilities, for we just escaped from our faction's demise. If you get this, tune to frequency 872.67, open channel." Without hesitation, they tuned to the frequency provided, and began "This is Fox McCloud, captain of the Great Fox, leader of the mercenary group Star Fox. We detected your arrival, and moved to investigate." It was a few seconds before the response came.

"Captain McCloud, I am glad to make your acquaintance, though I wish to know why you're ship is coming back as unknown. If a visual representation is necessary, I can come aboard, or vice versa."

"If you'd like, I think it's best you come aboard."

"Wilco, standby, I'll be there soon enough." It took about 8 minutes before an aircraft departed from what they now knew as the IFS Javelin. It backed into their hangar, where Fox waited for the Commander to show himself, though what he saw would change the course of history forever.

Adrian's Pov:

I was admittedly curious to see why they were unable to identify mercenaries, just in case, I brought two members of Hunter Squad. They didn't officially exist, but they were the deadliest and the scariest, sometimes scaring me by their efficiency, but I knew that they'd be ready in case this was a trap. I stood ready as the door dropped, and when it did, I stood silent for a moment, recoiling quite visibly, and so did the rest of the team, even the mercs themselves. It was through sheer will that I somehow broke the ice "I... do believe this is why we couldn't identify each other. I am Commander Adrian of the Independent Federation Ship Javelin, I... don't really know how to properly do this introduction with such cards on the table." The fox seemed to regain his composure.

"I'm Fox McCloud, we've had introductions, but to know what's at play now... I-I'm just as startled as you are, but pleasure to meet you I suppose." He stuck his hand out, which Adrian approached and shook with a firm grasp before backing away a little "Likewise. This wasn't exactly what any of us expected."

"Oh that's mutual, I'll admit, I was afraid to approach such a giant ship."

"That's the idea of a dreadnought, or to a prime target in big battles."

"Anyways, I doubt you came out here on your own volition."

"No, we were contracted by the CDF to investigate something big, your ship."

"CDF? Your local militaries employ mercenaries?"

"Yes, isn't that common?"

"Not where I'm from. I would like to meet this force though."

"Follow us then." We went to the bridge without a moments hesitation, and to see the ship from such an angle, I was more than impressed, I could see why the mercs were hesitant to approach. I must have looked at my vessel for more than a few minutes. Perhaps I could customize my ship now, seeing as the regulations were a thing of the past, perhaps I could even create my own mercenary faction, for when the most dangerous are needed. I'd have to get a crew vote later, but for now, it seemed I was about to meet the new military. "Well? How much longer?"

"He should have picked up by now, something's wrong." As if on cue, ROB spoke.

"Enemy craft detected, identified as Star Wolf."

"You're kidding me right?" It's then I got an idea, I'd simply pretend he was aboard his ship, so he moved to the comms unit "This is Commander Adrian to new contacts, identify yourself." There was a deafening silence before someone responded.

"Who are you to demand anything of me?" I looked at the radar, four small blips, fighters probably. He smiled smugly.

"From what I see, you don't exactly have a giant ship like I do, so I will ask once more before I shoot you down, who are you?" The way he said it was sure to start conflict if he wasn't right.

"Wolf, that's all you're getting."

I didn't like this, so I turned to my guards "You two, hide in the hangar, if possible, capture them." The guards nodded and immediately got to work, while I returned to communicating. "Ok Wolf, what're your intentions?"

"Taking out Star Fox, so stay out of this!"

"Well, as long as you don't attack us, fine, though I would watch your tone with me." With that, I cut the comms and using local frequency, I alerted Hunter team "They're coming for this ship, prepare to ambush them."

"Wilco, we'll get them one way or another."

Hunter Lead's Pov:

"Wilco, we'll get them one way or another." I motioned to my squadmate to get behind some crates, near what we assumed was the light switch, I already had a plan. Once the four alien vessels landed and the pilots got out, they began investigating our transport, the pilot was put in cover already, so there was no worry. As they entered it, I signaled to Hunter 2 to cut the lights, and once he did, it was open season for the poor bastards that were unaware of the enemy mere feet from them. The minute the lights cut, I tossed a gas grenade to knock them out, since they were blind, it wasn't long before two of them were out, though the wolf and the panther seemed to be more resilient. They'd just do this the old fashioned way, it was time to get mean.

Utilizing NVG's, we approached slowly, though the wolf seemed to have spotted them, seeing as he drew his... I assumed it was gun, until a red laser bolt smashed into my shoulder, though it hit the armor only, but still, now I was pissed. I ditched all attempts at stealth and tackled that son of a bitch, thankfully, my team mate got the other one before he could react to me. From there, we kept them subdued until the gas finally got them. I finally radioed in "This is Hunter Lead, four targets neutralized, all still breathing."

"Good work Hunter, our new friends here know what to do."

"Hold them off, gas was deployed, so we need to vent it first." There was no response, but soon, the gas was sucked out of the hangar, and they considered these guys captured.

Fox's Pov:

I have seen my fair share of combat, but when I walked down with the crew to the hangar, what I saw was astonishing. The guards had taken them down with only one of them having been shot, even then, it seemed that he was perfectly fine, like it never happened. One was checking to see if Wolf was still alive, while the other was checking for something on their ships "Wow, you guys are on the same level as some of the best"

"We were trained for brutal efficiency, no matter what." it was then the one on their ships called out "Found a jammer."

"So that's why we couldn't get to Pepper, well, I'll go try again I guess." I left to make my way back to the bridge, stopping once to tell my crew to throw Star Wolf in the brig, and once contact was established, I was relieved.

"Fox, I began to worry something happened to you, what's the report?"

"Unknown is friendly, the Commander is here with me."

"Commander?"

Adrian finally spoke up "That'd be me, I'm Commander Adrian." There was a silence as the general saw what Adrian was, though he quickly recovered.

"What are you?"

"I'm something called a human. I realize how alien I am to you, so I can understand any precautions, such as the mercenaries here."

"I wish to meet you in person, would that be possible?"

"I just need coordinates." With that, I butted it. "I have them already, you just need to follow me in su-"

"Fox, with due respect, Javelin has a jumpdrive that can outpace yours, three times faster exactly from what my bridge crew reported."

"And yet, you waited?"

"This is a frigate compared to us, we weren't worried."

"Ok, fair enough."

"We have hangars that can house this thing comfortably. Besides, my ship's essentially a flying city, if everyone was civilian that is."

"Are you suggesting we dock and you use the coordinates to arrive faster?"

"You caught on quickly, the choice is yours."

"If you think we'll get there faster, fine. ROB, get us on there"

"Will do." Adrian saluted the general and contacted his crew, letting them know the situation, and I was left to think, mostly about what this would cause in the future.

Adrian's Pov:

I watched as we docked aboard my ship, after which, Fox gave me the coordinates to what he called Corneria, as we walked to the command deck, he seemed in awe of how big our hangars were, and the amount of troops we had, some of whom were stowing their gear, and others that were preforming drills, like he hadn't seen it since he was young, and not at such a scale.

"You carry yourself like a soldier, like you've seen a war."

"I did, and I also turned the tide of it."

"Spec Ops infiltration?"

"Lots of dogfighting."

"Didn't take you for a pilot, ace?"

"You know it."

"Well depending on how long this takes, we could possibly sync up the flight sim room to accept your fighters, so it's your skills against whoever you challenge, or if you wanna up the stakes, squadron against squadron."

"You have an onboard flight sim?" To say he was surprised is an understatement.

"We have a bar, a firing range, kill house, hell, one of our corporals decided to make a radio station to keep morale up, so we have basically anything you can think of."

"Damn, color me impressed."

"Should've seen the rookies when they board, they're always in awe, especially at the size of this behemoth of a ship."

"I can see why." We finally arrived at the command deck, and the crew was quick to go at attention, showing no signs of surprise at the fact I was being followed by a bipedal sentient Fox, and was in a holding conversation with him.

"At ease people, Kane, I owe you 100 Sigils, and I need these coords put in, we're jumping to meet someone."

"Who exactly, and you keep the Sigils, I didn't expect other sentient life today, or in my entire life."

"Well ok, and we're meeting a different military."

"Well in that case, I'll get on it." Fox seemed a little confused, and he voiced it.

"You have a laid back crew for a commander."

"I never was a by-the-books person, letting people be themselves and pairing them with people they work good alongside makes my crew one of the best among what was the Independent Federation's navy and military."

"That's unique, most CDF are strict, so I have a feeling you wouldn't exactly get along with them."

"All I'd have to do is show them how effective this ship's crew is, and in extent, the ship itself."

"Most people I know hate braggers."

"Is it bragging if it's been tested and proven true?"

"That's what makes it bragging."

"True, but at least I can always back it."

"Maybe."

"What, don't believe me? If not, we can compete in the kill house."

"Know what? You're on." I had to give him credit, he was confident, and without a moment to waste, they set down to the kill house.

"Want a practice run or 2 Fox? Just know the outfits that have my color are not to be shot, neither are civilians, those will deduct your scoring. To make it easier, I remember a phrase my DI's always said. Aim for brown, avoid green and civs. That's the basic, but there's more to it if you look hard enough."

"Well I'd appreciate that, but if you mean there are hidden enemies, you already know where they are."

"Indeed, but unless I witness you hitting those, I'll avoid hitting them."

"Alright, I'll take 2 practice runs."

"Right then, I'll watch your score, ready?" Fox readied his blaster, and gave a thumbs up, then the gate opened.

"Go, go! Clear your sectors!"

Skipping for now due to IRL save loss, I will gladly come back and restore this later though.

Adrian's Pov:

Fox taking on Reaper 15? I chuckled at the thought. 15 was our best pilot here, hell, rumor claims he's the best we ever had in the war. It was then I realized how much I was shaking, and now that I think about it, I can see why. I immediately went to the bar onboard, hoping some King's Rum can take some of the edge off. After getting myself the drink, the ship's DJ and newsman came on.

"It's time again, this time, with local news for those that haven't heard, and galactic for all to hear. Locally, we have encountered a new species, and we're currently travelling to their home to meet them officially, so try to make a good first impression, this is obviously a developing story, so I'll be keeping tabs on that. Galactic, we have one new story. Earth, home of humanity, has reported another victory, setting a new record breaking streak of 8 wins in a row. Earth won over Harbinger 18 to 13 in the Grand Zero-G Blitzplay finals. Some Earth representatives are confident that they will continue this streak, while others say that they're unsure if they could go higher than they already have. That's all for now, so I'll let the music sound once again." I have to admit, it's surprisingly nice to finally sit back, beer in hand, not having to worry about formalities, paperwork, or the next battle. If these... people? Yea, people, will allow it, my men can finally get their boots on the ground, perhaps even set a good example for humanity.

A/N

That's the beginning, I had a surprising amounts of issues making this, so I do hope you enjoy, or something.

ColdofWinter1, out.
