Body shaming
Elizabeth asked for a oneshot of people body shaming Snow (passive aggressively) after having 3 kids and it's hurting her feelings. Emma sees this and comes to her mom's rescue and defends her. This leads to a sweet mother/daughter moment later at home.
Emma loved summer. She always had. She remembered fondly a long, hot, summer in a group home in Santa Fe. It was one of the few decent group homes she stayed at. They took all the kids through to a water park in Albuquerque and Emma had the time of her life. After that, summer always became her favourite season. Even if she was with a rubbish family every summer after that, at least it was warm and dry enough most of the time for her to be out of the house comfortably. Yeah, in Emma's opinion, summer rocked.
Even up here in the north in Storybrooke, Emma managed to get herself a bit of a tan. She had agreed to spend the day with her mom and her two younger siblings at the park. Sure, the slides weren't waterslides or flumes and there were no lazy rivers, but water guns and water balloons were just as good. Snow sat back on a bench with her mom catching some rays whilst Neal and Rosie ran around enjoying the sun.
"Snow? Snow White?" Snow and Emma looked up and over the fence to see two women, slightly younger than Snow, looking down at them. Emma didn't recognise them at all, but her mom seemed to.
"Katie, Amber, hi." She said brightly, although Emma was sure she saw her mom grimace. Snow turned to Emma. "Emma, these are Katie and Amber, they are daughters of Lords from my kingdom. We grew up together." Emma smiled politely, but could feel her mom's tension. "We're just here so the two little monsters could get some sun." Snow explained. "Are you just passing through?" Snow asked hopefully. She had never liked this pair.
"Yes, we were just taking a brief stroll through the park…well dear me Snow, you certainly do have a lot of confidence." Amber said with a horrific smile. Snow looked confused, but Emma now felt her anger rising; she knew what Amber was referring to. Her mom was wearing a nice summer dress. Obviously, having had three children, her body didn't look the same as it did when she was younger. Why should it? She had made three humans!
"My mom has every right to be confident. She is a strong, beautiful, woman." Emma said with a dangerous undertone. Amber and Katie didn't even bat an eyelid.
"Well thank you Emma." Snow said, still confused. Was she missing something?
"Yes, she certainly is Emma. Not bad at all…for someone who has had three children." Katie added. Now Snow understood. Her arms folded uncomfortably over her stomach and her cheeks began to blush bright pink. Emma's cheeks tinted red with rage. How dare they!
"My mother is beautiful regardless of her having three children, and we couldn't ask for a better mom. Is that why you've both stopped to talk to her? Are you wanting advice on motherhood and keeping a beautiful figure afterwards seeing as you're both expecting? When are the babies due? The Cheshire cat grins faded off Amber and Katie's smug faces.
"Neither of us are expecting." Amber hissed. Emma feigned embarrassment.
"Oh…I see. My bad. Well…maybe we'll be seeing you both around?" Emma said with an angelic smile. Amber and Katie stormed off, clearly unamused. When they were gone, Snow turned her head and smiled at her eldest, now understanding fully what was going on.
"You're cheeky, Emma Swan." She said, clearly not displeased. Emma grinned back and shrugged.
"Maybe just a little."
Later that evening, Neal and Rosie were tucked up in bed, tired from running around in the sun. Charming was out on a guy's night out with Thomas and other friends, so it was just Emma and Snow awake. They were curled up together on the couch. A mug of hot cocoa each as they watched some trashy TV.
"Thank you for defending me earlier, Emma." Snow suddenly said during an ad break. Emma turned and looked at her mom.
"There's nothing to thank me over. They were being cows, and you are the best mom we could ask for." Emma said firmly. Snow smiled, reaching out and cupping one of her daughter's cheeks.
"I wouldn't change my figure for the world, you know." Snow said. "Each stretch mark, each wobbly bit, each bit of cellulite. It's all a reminder that for nine months I carried each of you. Each of my babies. It's the best kind of tattoos, in my opinion. No, I don't regret my figure at all. It was all worth it for you three." Snow said fondly. She meant it all. Who cared what those two spoiled witches thought about her figure? She would not be body shamed by them. She didn't care what they thought. Not when she got to come home to her three amazing kids. Yeah, they were totally worth being less skinny than she used to be.
