It's dark. Can't breathe. Don't panic, they'll find me. He'll find me.
Lucy feels the tears filling her eyes and the darkness inside tells her "no they won't, this is it, you'll die in this barrel".
"Nooooo"!!!!! She screams as the barrel begins to shake and she hears someone call her name.
"Lucy"!
Lucy slowly opens her eyes realizes she's tangled up in the sheets in her bed, a disheveled Jackson and Sterling looking concerned at her bedside.
"Lucy, it's okay. It's just a nightmare" Jackson tries to calm her. He doesn't touch her, but in a calm low voice he keeps telling her it'll be okay.
She holds her head in her hands "I'm sorry I keep doing this to you guys, I promise I'm okay, it only comes back when I sleep".
She looks at the tangled mess of bedsheets, the giant bear Nolan gave her lies in a heap on the floor.
Sterling bends to pick the bear up "Don't worry about us" he starts "we just want you to be okay, you've done amazing and no one expects this to just go away all at once".
Jackson helps her straighten her bedding and tucks her back in "Do you want me to stay with you"?
"Oh my gosh no, thanks you guys I'm gonna be okay, you can still get a few hours of sleep"
Sterling takes her hand and holds it between his own "Let us know if you need anything"
He gives her hand a squeeze, shares a look with Jackson and heads back to their room.
"You sure you're okay? I don't mind staying a while" Jackson sits down next to her.
"Thanks, I'll see you in the morning though, go get some shut eye, I'm sorry again"
"Okay, I'm right here if you need me" Jackson gets up and walks out of her room "Night" and he leaves her door open. He wants to be able to hear if she starts having another nightmare.
Lucy snuggles under her covers, the bear next to her, and tries to relax.
She reaches for her phone, pulling up an app with soothing sounds. She settles on the sound of rain hitting a tin roof, and lies back.
It's been months since her rescue from Caleb's barrel, yet it still haunts her dreams.
Will she ever be truly rid of the scars it's left her with? She runs her fingers across the tattoo still marring her chest. No longer scabbed she can feel the slightly raised skin.
She wished she could think of it as her TO suggested, the first day of the rest of her life, not the day she nearly died.
Lucy tries to fall back asleep. If she can fall asleep now she could get 3 full hours before she needs to get ready for her shift. She doesn't sleep, instead the time slips away as her brain just won't shut down. By the time she looks at her phone again another hour has flown by. Okay so 2 full hours now. She used to have no trouble sleeping, but now she's lucky if she gets 4 hours a night.
By the time it's down to 45 minutes before she needs to get up she decides sleep isn't happening and she will just head in early, get a workout before shift instead of after.
